Intro to chords, tablature and simple strumming patterns, singing while playing, basic music theory and reading charts, lead sheets, tablature and more.
About Cosima
For students who are just beginning their vocal journey or are busy performers who want to improve healthy technique and sing with more confidence; or perhaps a worship leader or backup singer is struggling with vocal strain, my goal is to help them find vocal freedom and maintain an amazing, healthy voice that will confidently meet their expectations, year after year, in every situation, every time.
As an active performing vocalist, musician, songwriter, and Christian worship artist and band lea
The first steps to mastering vocal freedom are the building blocks for vocal success. Whether the student is a child or an adult, with little or no training, it is my goal to make singing an enjoyable and freeing experience.
Singing with complete vocal freedom and confidence can seem very elusive. Surprisingly, it's not as elusive as one might think! Vocal freedom is within reach and most students experience a measure of it within the few first lessons, some even gaining a full octave in their range in their first lessons. Using a systematic method incorporating the study of good vocal technique and working on songs the student loves to sing makes learning more fun and gives the student a greater appreciation of music as a whole while encouraging a passion for music that lasts a lifetime. I encourage and teach sight reading, and theory basics especially for those students who are considering music as a profession.
*** Lesson Details ***
Each student learns with material that will be divided into step-by-step doable lessons so they can be sure to learn the best techniques and material along the way. Sheet music and lesson books are provided at a minimal additional cost.
*** Studio Equipment ***
My home-studio is bright and open and set up with an upright piano, full length mirror, music stand, iPad with appropriate applications, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and computer for recording and playback. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons or wait for their children in the adjacent room. I also may provide a follow-up email which includes any recordings and lesson notes from the current lesson.
As the student progresses I also provide a PA system to teach mic technique and build performance confidence.
I ask that students come prepared with the following items to their lessons.
~ Bottled water
~ A ring binder with paper for notes and a zippered pouch to keep tools and handouts.
~ A flash drive for recording transfers or they can use their phone or other recording device to record their lessons.
~
*** Specialties ***
I honestly love my students and love teaching! It's such a privilege to be a part of their musical journey. I specialize in church worship vocals, choir, a capella, show tunes and musical theater. I teach free, healthy vocal technique which enables each student to explore and focus on different styles of singing. I also love teaching young voices especially teens who want to have a good time learning to sing.
NOTE ~ My teaching style is more structured therefore some young children may not be ready to take lessons with me.

I bought my own Ukulele a few years ago and was surprised how much I actually liked it and enjoyed playing. The sound and tones are beautiful on a good instrument and you can play many types of music on it. I have transcriptions for standard tunes, Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, Train, Monkees, Jasom Mraz, Eagles, and yes... Over the Rainbow.
About Peter
I teach all styles and all ages but my specialty is in electric rock music and applied music theory as in guitar soloing and improvisation as well as song crafting. I can teach a student any song requested by looking it up on you tube if you don't have it and immediately transcribe it for you! I also have an extensive library of songs already charted and copied to hand out.
Also, since all teachers are not equal, what separates me from others who give lessons is that I have done extensive training in Teaching and Study Skills. My lessons are very understandable and properly arranged to learn in an organized fashion. So my students progress very well, really learn music and enjoy the lessons

Taking up Ukulele was a great way to look at music from a new perspective. I love teaching ukulele to younger kids who cannot make chords on a guitar quite yet as well as adults who are serious musicians that have been playing for years. I welcome everyone from the novice to the hobbyist and do my best work with student requests.
About Jason
Jason has been playing guitar for over 15 years and teaching music since 1996. Although trained in standard teaching methods, he has developed his own method of teaching to positively enhance the students strength, dexterity, ear-training, memorization and techniques. His goal as a teacher is specifically designed to help you achieve your goals as an artist and a musician.
This year Jason was also the Music Director at the National Guitar Workshop Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp where students ages 7-15 came out to form bands, record original material and master their craft. He also taught beginning to advanced guitar/ vocals/ performance and songwri
Jason has host student showcases/charity benefits where his students were able to get on stage and show off their new talent and perform with other musicians. It wasn't mandatory though, if you were just looking to come out and support there was no pressure other than to come out and have fun.
Jason has been transcribing for guitar and bass since the age of 18 and since then has become a master of the craft including both 5 line staff and tablature, hand-crafted exercises and deconstructions to better enhance the students learning. Artists and genres that Jason has experience with range from Classic Rock, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson, Pierce the Veil, Paramore, All Time Low, Demi Lava to, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, The White Stripes, Green Day, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons, Bruno Mars, Rob Zombie, John 5, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Van Morrison, the Beatles, AC/DC, ZZ-Top, Bullet For My Valentine, All That Remains, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Sublime, Aerosmith, At the Drive In, Type O Negative, the Black Keys, the Pixies, the Toadies, Black Sabbath, Jason Mraz, Lady GaGa, John Mayer and Journey.
Jason attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage where his degree is in Music and Business. He is constantly continuing his education with music theory courses as well as private guitar instruction. He attends guitar workshops and seminars by artists such as John5 and Kerry King who are known as some of the worlds finest guitar players. He reviews every day from a wide range of over 1000 sources working to become a better musician and instructor.
Another nice feature that you might enjoy from one on one sessions with Jason is learning the ability to craft and record your own songs using state of the art technology that caters to your own unique personality. There are no limits!
Jason teaches all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced as well as artists that are signed to labels.
Local news outlet Fox 5 did a segment with one of his students who overcame issues with ADD and depression as a result of taking guitar lessons.
His students advance quickly, some have released albums, been in Guitar World Magazine as well as its online companion and won awards for their music websites.
*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are scheduled to best fit to the student's schedule when possible.
Students receive complimentary audio lessons and transcriptions of songs upon their first or second session. Jason is a very patient instructor and understands that students learn at a different pace, after all everyone is an individual.

I can teach all levels and many styles. I make it easy for you to learn at your own pace so you can achieve your goals and have fun playing music.
About Thomas
Tom began teaching in 1994 and still practices today instructing students of all ages on guitar and bass techniques, as well as music theory.
Tom is very laid back and embraces working at the pace that each of his students feels most comfortable. Lessons are about the student’s ambitions. If it is learning their favorite songs or a deep dive into music theory, jazz improvisation or songwriting it can be covered in strides that seem fit to the student. Books can be used for guidance and a custom lesson plan created that will fit specific criteria desired to be achieved by the student. Remember, practice makes perfect. The more you put in, the more you will get out of it!!

I have played the ukulele for several years, and it is still one of my favorite instruments to listen to. It's a wonderful tool for learning basic music concepts and is pretty easy to pick up. I love teaching pop music adaptation and intricate picking techniques on this instrument.
About Jordan
I have a passion for a wide variety of styles of music. For several years, I was the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for multiple independent rock bands, the most notable being an indie psychedelic band called Tod The Fox. I have led worship for many churches including Grace Fellowship UMC, Brazos Pointe Church, The Cornerstone College Ministry at UTA, FUMC Allen, Living Life Church, and Fellowship of the Parks in varying capacities. At UTA, I studied Jazz and Classical guitar under acclaimed guitarists Sam Walker and Billy Robertson. Here,
My teaching style varies from student to student. Music is a wonderfully diverse subject and every student has his own aspirations. I will do my best to cater each lesson to the student's goals and interests. Whether that is classical guitar method, rock, jazz, folk, country, pop or anything in between.
I have an excellent internet connection and microphone set up for online lessons. I also utilize screen-sharing to make the lessons as close to real life as possible.
A few of my favorite artists include: Michael Gungor, Joe Pass, Andrew Bird, Chopin, Led Zeppelin, Glen Hansard, and Radiohead.
*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons will vary significantly from student to student. Not only does every student have different goals in mind, they all learn differently as well. I do my best to customize my lessons for each student's goals and needs. A typical guitar, bass, ukulele, or piano lesson may involve music-reading, chord studies, technical work, scale practice, theory, and of course learning awesome songs!
I consider myself a healthy balance between professional and light-hearted. As much as I want to make efficient use of the lesson-time, my primary goal is for the student to truly understand and enjoy music.
I have worked hard to be a flexible musician and teacher. I am competent in jazz, rock, classical, contemporary, blues, worship, country, and beyond and will be happy to teach any (or all) of these styles to any student.

Beginning: Learn ukulele fundamentals, basics chords, and play your favorite songs!
Intermediate students: Learn your favorite songs and learn how to write your own songs
About Kateri
My approach is compassionate, nurturing, and collaborative. My teaching style is structured but leaves room for fun. I believe that a student new to their instrument will thrive when they:
- have a parent involved in their practice in-between lessons (parents observing the lesson is highly recommended)
- have fun while learning proper technique to avoid harmful habits down the road
- choose songs that are interesting to them while the teacher picks songs that will help them grow
- are given foundational tools and approaches to further lifelong learning as they get older

Playing the Ukulele is the most fun you'll ever have playing music! By learning a few simple chords and the notes on the strings, you'll be strumming around the campfire or ready for middle school music (many schools are replacing the recorder class with Ukuleles)
About Michele
I have been teaching strings, piano, harp and drums since 1999. Many of my students have studied with me for years and developed a lifelong love of music. Some have gone on to be professionals.
I have been tutoring music therapy students as well as teaching music composition for seven years.
As a writer and author, I've written and had published 3 novels and 2 children's books. I teach and tutor writing to high school and college students.
I strive to help students achieve their musical and literary goals however I can, but I do not tolerate laziness or half-hearted attempts. Music can be a tool and thus, summers are dedicated to fun, composition and learning to record.
Lastly, cooking runs in my blood. My family is full of professional chefs. I’ve taken to cooking healthy, affor

When I was growing up, we all learned ukulele in Elementary school - when Uke started making its resurgence these last couple of years, I was quick to jump in and start teaching this super-fun, portable, "easy to get started" instrument! Play songs, accompany yourself singing - be the life of every party!
About Julia
In expanding my teaching practice to include piano and ukulele, I emphasize rhythm and musicality alongside technique and note reading. I always set myself the goal of learning what makes a musician sound "right," and not just "good" in a particular genre. This versatility has made me extremely employable as an artist, and, I think, uniquely qualified to teach. I believe that students will work harder on music that moves them, and I always encourage students

Julia deftly adapted her instruction to accommodate our daughter's interactivity level, and never over-praised, as modern psychology says is the correct way.
Our daughter practices spontaneously on her own, which can be at least partially attributed to Julia's teaching style.
