Violin is a complex art, one that takes many years to develop, but can be one of the most rewarding experiences in your life. Despite its challenges, love for the violin and music should never take a back seat in a lesson, That is what I will focus on. Nevertheless, there are methods and techniques crucial to violin playing that I will also keep at the forefront. At the end of the day, students have their own unique voice that I will try to nurture while at the same time teach them the fundamental tools to achieve it. Whether just starting out or already playing for many years, I will strive to do what is best for the student. Students can expect to build a solid foundation of technique, intonation, and other skills through my unique methods for learning efficiently which I have developed through the course of over 15 years of teaching violin. Whether they are in beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels, I provide a well-rounded teaching approach that would help them gain confidence in their musical and learning abilities as well as motivate them to practice and progress! ! Please NOTE: At this time, beginning students may only be accepted for online lessons with me if they had at least 1 solid month of weekly lessons.

Ms. Yu is currently a Teaching Assistant in the University of Massachusetts, where she is responsible for all undergraduates who take violin performance as a second major. With increasing time on her hands for side efforts, Jiuri has recently found that teaching young children gives her great joy, especially dealing when with the complexities of personalities as they arise and the challenge of motivating and molding young minds. When Jiuri is not teaching or performing music, she loves traveling, seeing all the different and interesting cultures, museums and learning about the history of places. Jiuri is an avid reader.

I have taught from 4 years old to 60.

I have been playing violin since kindergarten, and I have experiences in teaching beginner students at SUNY Albany campus and I absolutely loved it! Music Performance was one of my majors of my undergraduate degrees, and I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to perform a solo piece, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in my senior year. I am currently enrolled in a Master's program for Intercultural Communication & English language education. Teaching has been one of my long-lasting passions and I am more than happy to work with various levels of violin learners. Hope to hear from you soon!!

I have been teaching beginners and intermediate students for two years. My goal with beginning students is, through games and simple repertoire, to develop a solid technical foundation and an understanding of how to produce a good sound on the instrument. Anyone can play violin or viola!
With intermediate students, my goal is to continue to develop musical maturity, and build a platform beneath them so that if they want to pursue professional career, they can shoot for the moon.
