I've been playing and performing on Guitar for about ten years. I play a multitude of different styles and genres, including rock, country, r&b, jazz, blues, metal, funk, motown, along with many others.
My teaching approach is relatively simple; I work to empower you to approach and play your own instrument through rhythm, moderate music theory, as well as fretboard theory and picking/plucking styles. I also like to do practical application studies, i.e., using songs you're interested in learning to apply new techniques.
Most importantly, we progress at your pace and yours alone. If there's something very specific you'd like to accomplish, we can most certainly do that, or if you want to improve upon your general approach and method, that is also something I am available for.
About Tyler
Hi, I'm Tyler! Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, I am the son of a band director. That being said, I have literally been involved in music since I was an infant! I played trombone, bass trombone, and bass guitar all the way through high school, and went to New Mexico State University where I

The reason I always believed in private lessons is because no matter how few or how many you take, the learning process gets expedited immensely.
I definitely would recommend this teacher for learning a brass instrument.

Transcend the instrument and be able to play with anything. Learn your favorite tunes by ear and on the guitar. That is what I focus on. From beginning rudiments all the way through completely breaking down and conceptualizing the fretboard.
I've been playing for 20 years and have studied jazz at Peabody Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. However, I have played in bluegrass, rock, funk, hip hop and klezmer bands, as well.
I try to create an individual approach for each student because every person learns uniquely. I work with people on skills that apply to music at large, as well as the guitar 🎸. My goal is to help a student learn how to learn on their own, and provide the tools to do so.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

From his profile here I could tell that Juan was not only a skilled musician, but a keen and pensive instructor. After a single session Juan was able to properly asses my abilities and my shortcomings and tailor-designed an approach that matches my personal and musical nature. He uses my strong affinity for technique and uses that to discourage my hesitancy toward theory. He has a comfortable and approachable presence where mistakes and flaws are encouraged as learning footstools. With humble discipline he pushes me to -want- to be better.
With Juan I am absolutely confident in not merely becoming an apt guitarist, but a genuine musician."

I'm a beginner and Jeff has great patience with me. He let me catch up lessons at my speed and makes sure I'm playing well.
I'm also learning to read music from him.
He is very encouraging and patiently clears any doubts I have while playing. He points out mistakes and makes sure I clear it before going to the next lesson. I look forward to my lessons with him every week as it makes me happy and more confident while I play guitar."

Gio has a great way of thinking outside the box and teaching my daughter each week. He uses creative methods to engage her and help her relate to the material and provides easy instructions for practicing during the week. He is patient and easy going which allows for her not to feel overwhelmed as she's just learning the guitar. I'm very happy with how he's teaching her!"

Have you ever been frustrated with the key of a song, and wanted to change it instantly without having to transpose everything and learn new chords? Well, now you can! Learning how to use a capo can be a lifesaver, especially if you enjoy singing along or if you frequently work with vocalists. For an easy, hands-on way to see how a capo works, try playing a normal C chord. Place your capo on the first fret. Then play the same position you just played - you'll notice it's now half-step higher …
