Ukulele is the perfect instrument for young students learning their first instrument. It's incredibly easy to get off the ground and start making music right away. For that reason, it's one of my favorite instruments to teach, and it's the instrument I recommend to first-time music students, even if they eventually want to switch to other instruments.

Thanks Ben!
He is patient, kind, and highly knowledgeable. I clearly see the upward trajectory in my kids' musical capabilities. One of my kids can be difficult to deal with, especially when he is tired, but Ben would mold his approach to the lesson on the spot to keep my kid engaged (e.g., instead of continuing the lesson on the actual piano, he'd switch to a fun music-oriented game).

The ukulele is the #1 instrument I recommend for beginners, though I also use it on professional recordings. It's a versatile instrument that provided an excellent gateway to connecting with other musicians.
When I teach ukuklele, I of course focus on the fundamentals of technique that make it easy to play well, but I also work from the goals of the students and help them develop a plan to connect to to other people or an experience.
About Jonathan
I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Once you see the world and work with some unexpected challenges, you learn

I've been teaching ukulele for 5 years and love seeing my students discover their own musicality and style through ukulele! I specialize in teaching school-age kids, teens, adult beginners, and secondary instrument learners.
As a ukulele beginner, you’ll learn to keep your strumming steady while changing between 2-5 basic chords within a few lessons. You will find in just a few lessons that the songs you know and love are actually accessible and playable! With continued practice, you’ll start to create your own songs using the chords you know, and you will learn more complex chords, transposing, and reading melodies on the staff.
I'll make your lessons meaningful to you, by creating many of my own visual aids to meet your level and interests. We will blend your favorite modern genres with “classic” and “classical” tunes, and explore composition and songwriting along the way! I strive to always give you just enough detailed, technical instruction for the day, while leaving the ...

Julian has been teaching my 9 year old for about 1 year now. My son has learned a lot from Julian and continues to grow under his direction. Julian is very patient with him but also lets him know what he expects. Julian has substantive knowledge about music but also knows how to let your child have fun and be a child! I wholly recommend him for any music lessons for kids."

I am so happy that I have found Jesse as the ukulele teacher of my 7 years old son. You can tell that he lives for music and it's not just a job for him teaching students. He is determined but patient with the kid and really has educational skills."

Thanks to its refreshing island sound, the ukulele is becoming an increasingly popular instrument. However, if you don't know how to tune a ukulele properly, its sweet tropical notes can start to go sour fast! Luckily there are several easy methods of tuning that you can use to ensure your ukulele always sounds top notch! In standard tuning, a ukulele's strings are tuned to the following notes: G on the fourth string from the bottom, C on the third, E on the second, and A on the first or …
