I have been playing guitar for 21 years. I make lesson plans based on each individual, so I don't teach every one the same boring songs or use the same regiment with everyone. I want to teach you what YOU want to learn.

About Jeremie

I'm a self taught guitarist who has been playing for 20 years. I have played professionally in numerous bands and ensembles ranging from jazz to folk to rock, and I've been writing music for the same length of time. I am a dedicated, talented and enthusiastic music instructor. I love sharing my knowledge on the joys of making music with my students. I teach because I want to teach. Not because I have to teach.

The disciplines that I have acquired through my music have helped me in all areas of my life, and I love the idea that I can share some of those lessons with other people.

I love seeing a child's eyes light up the first time they play a song or grasp a concept. I enjoy working with adults whose life long ambition has been to learn to play an instrument, and have finally found the time for their studies.

I love to teach and play guitar. I have BMA composition degree from Philadelphia university, from 1989 I have been teaching, composing and performing in different countries, specially Mexico and US. I worked for 10 years as guitar teacher for conservatory in Chihuahua, Mexico and other private schools and persons in US, from 3 years old kids to adults any age. I play electric guitar as well as nylon classical instrument. Pop english or spanish styles I can teach with proper hands technique and patience, Beatles, Queen, Boston. If you want a more deep knowledge of music notation and classical technique, we can focus on baroque and classical repertoire, Bach, Giuliani and Sor are the best for this purpose. For electric guitar we can take the jazz approach, mode scales, swing and fusion masters, like Ellington, Jobim, Carlton to inspire your learning and lessons.

I can't say enough good things about Earl's instruction. He's extremely knowledgeable and talented and yet responsive, inspiring, and kind. Rather than applying a narrow and rigid approach to teaching, lessons are built around my abilities and interests and he has taught me new ways of looking at music and playing guitar. I feel very fortunate to be one of his students.

I teach all levels of guitar in the areas of rock, blues and jazz, but I really focus more on the musical skills need to play guitar in any style. These include a thorough chord vocabulary, experience playing rhythm guitar, and a complete progressive study of scales and their use in improvisation (lead guitar) starting with pentatonic scales and progressing to major scales, different forms of minor scales and modes. All scales are learned in multiple positions and the student learns to perform with them in any key. In every lesson the student and I play exercises and study materials together to make actual music from the materials being studied.

About Dennis

I have been teaching guitar for 25 years in the Washington DC metro area. I work with students 12 years of age and up, but I am especially experienced at teaching adult students regardless of whether they are beginners or have previous guitar experience. I have performed in acoustic Celtic, new age,

I've been taking weekly online guitar lessons with Dennis for a little over a year now and I have nothing but good things to say. Dennis brings decades of playing and teaching experience to the table and it shows in each lesson.

Dennis is particularly great at tailoring the lesson material to the abilities and experience of the student. I had been self learning guitar for about 2 years before signing up for lessons with Dennis. In our first lesson, he got an idea of my skill and interests and built the lessons off of that. I am personally interested in jazz guitar and Dennis holds a wealth of knowledge in that department as well as many other genres and styles.

Ultimately, the greatest thing about Dennis' teaching method is that he helps you pursue your interests and goals and provides you with the tools and information to do so. You won't be spending any time practicing anything you don't feel is relevant to your interests.

Another note I'd like to add is that I have never felt looked down on or judged by Dennis throughout my year of lessons. I know this is common concern among adult beginners like myself (I am currently in my late 20's). I can assure anyone reading this that Dennis is a true professional and conducts his lessons in a stress-free, peer-to-peer manner.

Dennis has been a wonderful guitar teacher and mentor for me over the last 18 months or so. I am in my mid-50s and was starting essentially as a beginner when I signed up to work with Dennis. Thanks to Dennis' patient and individualized approach, I have made great strides and am pleased with how I have progressed. While he is a very accomplished guitarist, he is also a very experienced teacher. Dennis' teaching approach is not to ask the student to follow a rigid learning plan or replicate the journey he took to mastering the guitar, but rather focuses on tailoring the lessons to the student's abilities, musical interests, time constraints, learning modes, etc. The bottom line is that I enjoy working with Dennis each week and practicing what he has taught me.

The pandemic has obviously thrown a big wrench into the giving of guitar lessons. Before, Dennis was teaching me at his house. We now meet online using the Takelessons platform. Online lessons took some getting used to and are clearly not optimal, but I think Dennis has become more and more adept at making it work as well as possible.

I heartily recommend Dennis as a guitar teacher.
Mike M.
Dennis is easygoing and great to work with.

This has resulted in more spontaneous practice and enthusiasm. My youngest son asked if he could play a Beatles tune for us that he was working on. Ricardo had adapted it so that he could be successful immediately. He was so excited and he sounded great!"

Best Rock Guitar Songs for Beginners to Learn

When you’re first learning to play guitar, it's important to develop the dexterity and coordination of your left and the right hands. To be able to use both hands is our initial goal and this takes a good amount of practice. If you’re going to spend hours practicing, you might as well use that time to learn something that you like to play. After all, it is much more fun to practice songs in a genre that you like, rather than practicing a piece in a style that you don’t like. So, if you …

How Much Time Should I Spend Practicing Guitar?

When you're beginning to learn guitar, you also have to learn how to practice. Follow this expert advice from guitar teacher Mike B. to find the proper amount of practice time you need to achieve your guitar goals...  As a guitar instructor, one of the most common questions I get asked is "how often should I practice?" Students are told various amounts of time that are deemed "proper" to practice each day. Some say a half hour, some say an hour, some say more, some say less. With all of thes …

How to Play Beatles Songs on Guitar

For many people, the Beatles ARE rock and roll. Few - if any - artists have had so profound, so enduring, or so eclectic an impact on the music scene as the Beatles. In only 10 years together, they produced 13 full length albums, including some of the most iconic tracks in the modern canon. Even those with no special attachment to the band can probably name a dozen or more Beatles songs. So, whether you’re looking to join a Beatles tribute band, mix some crowd-pleasing covers into your set …
