Ukulele is a newer instrument to me, but I have been teaching and performing for over 8 years now. I have played music since age 5 starting with violin and later guitar, which I studied at Berklee College of Music. Uke became a recent passion as I formed an acoustic duo of cello and ukulele (and singing) called DvOd that has performed all over the NW and released a CD. I provide a core curriculum of basic technique and music knowledge, combined with customizing to the student's interest. From Traditional Hawaiian to Eddie Vedder to Jake Shimabukuro, I can help you learn your favorites.
About Eric

First thing I do before first day of class is send out a welcoming greeting via email and call a few days before first lesson. We Briefly discuss and establishing the learning goals for the course based on the visual literacy, technical, and intellectual competencies the students should achieve by the end of a period is ideal for me to design the course or update an existing course for the student's desired outcomes. The syllabus and the schedule are completed along with a comprehensive strategy for what will take place during class. Music lessons include: warm ups, exercises, technical and theory work, solfeggio (sight-singing), ear training, repertoire musical coaching, composition writing, preparation for performances and more.

The sweet tone of the ukulele really comes out when the right chords are played. There is a wide range of moods the uke can produce — from upbeat grooves to sentimental slow jams — which depends heavily on the type of chords that are used. The major, minor, and dominant chords all have distinctive sounds that play a critical role in the songs we know and love. To understand the unique quality of each essential chord type, it’s helpful to practice chord variations that are based on the s …
