The Uke is growing in popularity because of it's ease of playing and how much fun it is to play. A great starter instrument to branch onto guitar later on or a unique instrument to master. I can help you master the Uke and have a lot of fun doing it.

Ukulele is a newer instrument to me, but I have been teaching and performing for over 8 years now. I have played music since age 5 starting with violin and later guitar, which I studied at Berklee College of Music. Uke became a recent passion as I formed an acoustic duo of cello and ukulele (and singing) called DvOd that has performed all over the NW and released a CD. I provide a core curriculum of basic technique and music knowledge, combined with customizing to the student's interest. From Traditional Hawaiian to Eddie Vedder to Jake Shimabukuro, I can help you learn your favorites.

About Eric

Music lessons for all ages and levels on guitar, bass, violin, cello, ukulele, banjo and voice/singing. Private studio in downtown Redmond or online lessons. I have been teaching for over 15 years, performing and recording as a singer/songwriter/guitarist for over 30 years. Berklee College of Music

First thing I do before first day of class is send out a welcoming greeting via email and call a few days before first lesson. We Briefly discuss and establishing the learning goals for the course based on the visual literacy, technical, and intellectual competencies the students should achieve by the end of a period is ideal for me to design the course or update an existing course for the student's desired outcomes. The syllabus and the schedule are completed along with a comprehensive strategy for what will take place during class. Music lessons include: warm ups, exercises, technical and theory work, solfeggio (sight-singing), ear training, repertoire musical coaching, composition writing, preparation for performances and more.

"Jesse has been teaching me ukelele and my husband guitar for the past few months. I had never picked up a ukelele before I started, and at the end of my first lesson he had me playing a song! He works great with absolute beginners (like me) and with those who have been playing but want to hone their skills (like my husband). He comes to our house, is always on time, and is a great teacher. I would recommend Jesse to anyone."

"My daughter began classes with Nick as part of her after school program with a group of elementary school kids who signed up for group Ukulele classes. When quarantine started due to COVID, we all had to switch to remote zoom classes with Nick. Teaching music remotely must be challenging but Nick never made it seem challenging. He was always so patient and age-appropriate with the kids and communicated often with the parents. After the group lessons ended, we decided to continue with 1:1 classes with Nick. He really allowed my daughter to go at her own pace but still challenge her. He does ear training as well and now my daughter can play along with many songs she likes, just by figuring out the notes on her own. Nick's follow up emails after each lesson made sure we are aware of what he worked on and any HW our daughter should work on. Our daughter has progressed so much in just a few months of starting a new instrument! Nick is really a kind and amazing teacher!"

"Matt is an awesome teacher. He quickly assessed my skill level and met me there with new song covers, new strum patterns, and finger picking tutorials. As an intermediate ukulele-ist who's beginning to explore songwriting, I feel very fortunate to have crossed paths with Matt. He encourages me to share my work, and jams along, opening up rhythmic and harmonic possibilities I wouldn't think of on my own. In home recording technology is also a huge perk!
Very fun teacher, highly recommended!"

Complete Guide to Mastering the D, D7, and Dm Ukulele Chords

The sweet tone of the ukulele really comes out when the right chords are played. There is a wide range of moods the uke can produce — from upbeat grooves to sentimental slow jams — which depends heavily on the type of chords that are used. The major, minor, and dominant chords all have distinctive sounds that play a critical role in the songs we know and love. To understand the unique quality of each essential chord type, it’s helpful to practice chord variations that are based on the s …
