I've been teaching guitar for 30 years. My students have gone on to play professionally, have their songs on iTunes and teach at the college level. Once I get an idea of what type of guitar you are interested in, and what style, I can develop a plan for you. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
Welcome to my TL's profile!
If you're looking at this site, you're already on your way to becoming an AWESOME musician! Whether this is your first attempt at music lessons or you've been playing for a while and trying to improve your skills, I'm EXCITED about working with you. I am a professional music educator and performer that has a passion for music and teaching. I will gear each lesson to fit your musical interests and playing level, while I encourage and motivate. My goal is to use proven teaching methods and a supportive learning environment to help you realize your musical potential, as well as having FUN while doing it.
Here's some background about myself, to help you decide if I'm a good fit as your new instructor.
I come from a family of musicians. Began guitar lessons at age five as the Beatles were in
vading the American music scene. I grew up in New Jersey, performing in rock bands until becoming interested in classical guitar. With New York City only a short bus ride away, I spent as much time as possible in the city, studying guitar with Russian born Classical Guitarist, Dr. Alexander Bellow, and Jazz Legend "Bucky" Pizzarelli. During this time, I attended recitals of such notables as Andre Segovia, Julian Bream and John Williams. Being immersed in this musical scene inspired me to make music my life.
Earned a degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, where I studied under the direction of guitar pedagogue, Richard Provost. While at Hartt and shortly after, I performed in numerous Master Classes for internationally acclaimed artists such as Manuel Barrueco, Christopher Parkening, Oscar Ghiglia, Michael Lorimer, and Carlos Barbosa-Lima.
I have taught guitar at the college level for over twenty years teaching on the music faculties of University of Central Florida, Rollins College, Stetson University, Bethune Cookman College, Florida Southern College, and St. Leo College. I taught private guitar lessons, class guitar, and guitar ensemble
I have appeared hundreds times at Disney and Sea World as well as other venues around Central Florida. My experience includes performing solo and in small groups. I have also performed with rock groups, stage bands, folk groups, classical ensembles, jazz combos, Broadway shows, operas, as well as solo recitals, and concerto appearances.
Throughout the years I have had many unique experiences while performing. One of my favorites being the opportunity to play the MASH theme song for Alan Alda as well as other stars in attendance at a cast party for the TV show, Win, Lose or Draw at EPCOT Center.
Although I enjoy performing, I considers teaching music to be highly gratifying. The importance of giving students a good foundation with the proper technique and performance skills cannot be underestimated. When a student can play a song from beginning to end with style and confidence you know you've given them a gift that will offer them enjoyment for the rest of their lives.

I would highly recommend Eric at House of Music for guitar lessons. I am after a certain style of guitar music using finger picking to play for my special needs son. I have learned that not all teachers are familiar with this style. Thankfully, Eric is great at it. He is also teaching me how to read music and not just play the chords or tab which is something I had overlooked. I am thankful he has been able to work with me and my unique set of circumstances and help me reach my goals.

Eric Lesko taught my son Brian guitar 18 years ago when Brian was a teenager. My son got to a point that he didn't want to practice and we were thinking about giving up the lessons. However, Eric got Brian playing whatever kind of music my son was interested in and he continued taking for a few years thereafter, completely enjoying it. When I decided to take up the guitar around eight years ago, Eric was the first and only instructor I thought of. Besides being very capable musically, he is willing to move in any direction that you want in order to keep you interested and helping you achieve your goals. He always has suggestions on ways to approach a particular piece in order to make playing fun and not frustrating. He is also well-versed in the use of technology to make playing a continuum as you gain skills, making a huge difference in being able to get more out of practice. Finally, he is conveniently located in a new facility in downtown Oviedo and he is very flexible with lesson days and times. Eric's greatest asset is that he wants the student to enjoy playing as much as he does!
Guitar is my principle instrument. There is nothing I can't teach you when it comes to this instrument.
In addition to being a Berklee College of Music Graduate, I have a Masters in Music Education, and currently completing my Doctorate in Music Education from Boston University, I have been playing for over 30 years.
Lessons are written and tailored to you. I use music, printouts, and instructional material to make sure you progress as you should.
I have spots available every day of the week, so I'm confident that we can find something that works for both of us.
I know that learning to play any style of music whether it be Jazz, Blues, Soul, Motown, Funk, or Rock is a challenge, but with help from an experienced educator, your instrument becomes a rewarding lifelong enjoyment.
Please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to speak with you regarding any questions you may have.
Frankie helped me with my clarinet tone within the first 15 minutes of the first lesson, and gave me many more helpful playing tips throughout the hour. He was really interested in what my goals were. Looking forward to many more lessons with Frankie.

He clearly loves to play music and is very thoughtful about how he shares this knowledge in his lessons. He never fails to encourage me as a guitar player and reinforces a 'can do' attitude. His positive and calm demeanor also make for a fantastic instructor. Thank you, Dan.

First lesson was a great experience for my kids. They are practicing on their own!!! I could tell they couldn't wait for their next lesson. Thank you Dan!!!
For beginners we will begin by learning the simple/core chords that are most frequently found in popular songs. Upon learning the chords we will move onto transitioning between chords and learn some basic tunes and simple strumming patterns. After that we will begin with more advanced chords which will allow you the chance to play a much larger variety of songs. Once those chords have been mastered students will begin to learn more advanced strumming patterns and transitions between chords, along with how to read sheet music and tablature.
Hello everybody, my name is Michael and I have been playing both the guitar and piano since I was four years old. I am a full-time music instructor, and I also perform frequently on the weekend. My main musical interests include americana and country music, but I have spent time learning several other types of music as well. My favorite style to teach is the blues. I am looking to teach beginner to intermediate students and help them learn/perfect the basic and intermediate skills of guitar and piano.
Enjoyed the first lesson a lot! We spent time going over basic open chords, different ways to finger them and then we worked on transitioning between them. Michael was very patient and encouraging. We also touched on some basic music theory... really ooking forward to the upcoming lessons!

Michael is very relatable & knowledgeable. Brody who is 8 looks forward to Michsels lessons & he is learning a love for music through Michael!!

Very nice guy and knowledgeable. Easy to get along with and really works to make it a fun and enjoyable experience.
If you're looking to quickly learn the basics of guitar, I can help you with that. We begin by learning open chords, then move on to bar chords, and strumming patterns. Again, my lessons cater to each individual student's goals and taste in music.
Hi, there! My name is Jennifer and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2014 and have loved helping my students play by ear, learn to read music, and improvise pop songs. I went to Temple University in Philadelphia and earned a degree in music production. I'm a stress free and easy going person and my teaching style is catered to the student's interests, long term goals, and personality. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
My teaching experience began while working as the music teacher at a day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities called SpArc Services in Philadelphia. I taught private piano, voice and guitar students through a studio called Philly Music Lessons for 2+ years. I also was the music teacher for the Lansdowne Presbyterian Pre-School in Pennsylvania.
I teach my students out of my comfortable home/studio in Van Nuys, but can teach online and travel to you. The regular styles I teach are: Pop, rock, RnB, improvisational piano, classical voice/piano.
Very good natured, and easy to take instruction from.
More suited to electric guitar enthusiasts, than acoustic players. I would recommend Jennifer.

jENNIFER WAS VERY PATIENT WITH OUR 13 YO GRANDSON WHO IS IN HE AUTISTIC SPECTRUM. HE TOOK 5 LESSONS AS A TRIAL. WE HOPE HE IS NOW INTERESTED IN MUSIC AND MAY CONTINUE WITH LESSONS THIS SUMMER WHEN HE IS OUT OF SCHOOL

Jennifer is best teacher ever!
Very patient with our seven year old, fun and easy lessons,
kid is always very happy to go to class!
I love teaching people how to play songs they enjoy! I'm not too focused on music theory, but am more interested on giving you the tools to play your favorite songs! Playing guitar doesn't have to be difficult or boring. Whether you want to play the Beatles on an acoustic guitar, learn your favorite Metallica riffs or even learn the basics to play at church...I'm your teacher!
Hi! Music is my passion and, apart from my family, is my world! I play guitar, bass and sing. I have been playing since I was 12 years old and been teaching others since I was 15. I have recorded five albums with bands of my own and several albums as a studio musician. I have also played in most of the major cities in Texas where I am from. I currently play at my local church and have a few new projects coming up. I even play weddings. I love many types of music, but enjoy metal and oldies/classic rock the most. My favorite band is Metallica, but I also love the Beatles.
I am a self-taught musician and teach like one...with simplicity and fun. My teaching motto is simple...I want to get you playing something you recognize and enjoy quickly! Even though I have picked up some music theory over time, I find nothing beats the satisfaction
of learning how to play something you know and love!
Whether you want to play an acoustic guitar by the camp fire, play your favorite heavy metal riff, play in church or just play your favorite song, I can lend a helping hand. I can tailor your lessons to your preference. Just send me a message to see if I am the teacher for you! Rock on!
Warning: I only teach acoustic/nylon guitar. Electric players need not apply, thanks.
With beginners, I specialize in making the intro process fun and moving forward.
For intermediate players, I focus on: - a unique online course only available to my private students that greatly assists in learning theory to make it practical and useful for guitar players - fingerstlye techniques - unique techniques with percussion, effects/looping, playing with pencils and fans and things
I've been making music since I started piano lessons at 6 years old. I love teaching and have been doing so privately and in classroom settings throughout my career.
My wife and are empty nesters of three children but no grandchildren yet... .
Musically, I started with classical piano and progressed to jazz and pop music as a teenager. In junior high, playing trumpet in band progressed to playing bass in jazz ensemble. Finally, acoustic guitar satisfied my need for something to play songs with that was more portable than a keyboard.
Initially, my desire to be a studio session musician resulted in pursuing a wide variety of musical skills, instruments, and segments of the music world. From arranging and composing for orchestra and rap albums, to audio engineering/consulting and music typesetting, my experience became very di
verse. Loving so many styles of music, I played professionally such diverse things as salsa piano, folk guitar, jazz bass, and funk drumming. I also love teaching and have developed curricula for several schools as well as guest-taught at numerous universities and conferences.
career highlights: -international touring with multiple artists and bands, 45 countries -record producer with 100+ projects and developed producer curriculum for audio trade school -conference speaker and guest university instructor all over the world teaching music and creativity -skill on multiple instruments and styles as well as extensive experience in the world of audio and teaching music theory
teaching highlights: I traveled quite a bit as a guest teacher/speaker, so an exhaustive list is not practical. Some highlights include:
-Oral Roberts University - Tulsa (8 years in multiple roles) -Southeastern University - Florida -MediaTech Institute - Texas -LPI Hernhutt - Germany (3 months) -Created to Worship - England (2 years) -and of course, numerous conferences, clinics, workshops all over the place
I've been asked numerous times "how many instruments do you play?" Well, I can get around on most anything. However, I don't play anything bowed (like violin or cello) nor the steel guitar. The instruments I teach are those I have the most background and have played professionally with.
Please contact me if you have any questions, I would love to talk with you!
My 6 years old son wanted to take piano lessons and it was always my dream to learn to play on piano as well. I am happy we found Austin. He has skills and patience to work with kids, which is impressive. Austin motivates and encourages them, so they enjoy playing. I am enjoying learning piano as well and my dream is coming true!!!

Austin has been an amazing guitar instructor!!! I find Austin to be many things some of which range from extremely knowledgeable, talented musician, patient, understanding and an excellent communicator of the information he is relaying to get you to another level. Thank you.

Very good mentor and teacher, feels less like a teacher and more like a friend
I love guitar! You will learn to strum and sing, fingerpick, write songs, play your favorite songs, solo, and improvise. As you progress you'll learn songs by your favorite artists and maybe you'll enjoy some of my favorite guitarists.
Hi, I'm Matt and I teach guitar for all ages and abilities. I know what it's like, trying to learn on your own with Youtube videos and online lessons, and it can be not only tough, but boring. My goal is to make music lessons as fun and engaging as possible while designing each lesson specifically to each student's musical tastes and needs.
The best part of our lessons is always the coffee shop jam we hold twice a year to let students play out in public.
Prices below are for lessons at my Bushwick music studio. I teach out of my home studio in Bushwick and in the West Village area.
I have been teaching music for twelve years. I earned my B.A. in Music from Belmont University and I'm currently working towards a M.M. in Songwriting at NYU. I co-founded Nashville Rock band The Delta Saints, have performed guitar in the musical Wic
ked on broadway, and have written and performed with artists like Steuart Smith of The Eagles and Tony-nominated Jeremy Pope. I produce, perform, teach, and write music based out of my home studio with my wife in Brooklyn, NY.
Matt was the first guitar instructor I've had that has actually taught me enough to perform! I came into his instruction learning only a couple songs by heart, and in a few months I was able to pick up on common chord progressions in popular songs and learn them so quickly. My goal was to be able to play open mic nights at my local college bar, and Matt showed me the tricks to sing and play guitar at the same time. His studio is so welcoming, lots of natural light, and easy to play a guitar in. It was nice that his wife was around sometimes during the class (made me feel more comfortable). Awesome teacher!

Matt is such a great teacher! I went into guitar lessons just hoping to be able to learn to play a few songs, but I've been taking lessons for months now. His studio is super cool and it's fun to jam out and learn songs, plus Matt is helping me work on my own songwriting.
"Jesse has done amazing things with our son, age 12. Jesse's relaxed, low-pressure approach has worked really well to keep him interested without any resi
stance. In the process he has become quite an accomplished guitarist! Jesse truly has a gift for teaching."
"Exceptional musician. Skilled and patient teacher.
I have been taking weekly guitar lessons with Nick for nearly four months now and it has been all I
hoped for and more. As a recent retiree and amateur musician one of my goals is to rapidly improve my novice guitar skills. I was looking for a teacher who would push me hard but was willing to work with the particular songs and musical questions that I might bring to him each week. I could not be more pleased. Nick is able to immediately bring his knowledge and experience to any material that I bring to a lesson and he uses it as the basis for a wide range of teaching moments – whether it be technique, harmony, or improvisational approach. What I didn't anticipate was the extent to which his holistic, listening (and singing) based approach to playing an instrument has challenged me. Nick is making me a better musician not just a better guitar player. (And it is very helpful that he types out notes on all that we discuss and sends an email following each lesson.)"
"I am a self-taught guitar player and played in a band for 3 years when I was in high school. I'm originally from Arizona and when I moved to San Jose I w
as looking to get back into playing guitar a bit more now that I was done with college. Except this time, I wanted more formal training. I had homework to do every week, which was awesome because it gave me an excuse to jam out on my guitar more often. Even though I had been playing guitar for years, the lessons were very challenging and I still felt as though I had much more to learn. Also, you immediately feel inspired to practice more once you hear Ahmad shred on his guitar. This guy plays the crap out of that thing! Plus, he has a wide variety of musical background so you get to learn genres you never thought you'd enjoy playing (i.e. Blues). Overall it was an awesome experience and I would definitely recommend Ahmad lessons to all of my friends looking to play guitar."
Dennis is a wonderful teacher. His extensive knowledge of all forms of music comes through in his teaching skills. He is extremely patie
nt and understanding as we work through pieces. I started taking classes as an adult in retirement, with past experience limited to a few chords learned way back in high school. We're now well into number of beautiful classical pieces, I've gained a significant knowledge of music theory, and we've just now starting to tackle the blues !!. I may have eclectic tastes, but Dennis feels very comfortable with it and loves teaching all types of music. I know I'm in the hands of a master musician and teacher."
"Josh is a great teacher!
I'm 47 and could pretty much tell you that I was holding a guitar, but not much more. Josh is very patient, and understanding. H
e doesn't even seem to get bothered by my endless, irrelevant questions. I've been putting off learning for 40 years, after working with Josh, I have no idea why.
The atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed, and while he is willing to take it slow, it is very evident that Josh has the ability to take you to whatever level of play you are looking for."
"Took 5 lessons with Sergio to get me over a playing hump. During each lesson, we worked on a specific area. Toward the end, we went over practice routin
e, recorded it and he supplied source material for reference. This helped me maintain rhythm, improve chord changes, and to generally have a better grasp of theory (it really helps for speedy progress in my opinion).
By any nature, you should always practice on your own as well, but he will guide you to what needs to be done to further your ambition of playing guitar, no matter the age (i'm 35)."
"Heather Lanza teaches my daughter guitar, and we are very pleased! She is very positive and encouraging when she teaches, and I think her friendly and su
pportive personality makes her students feel very comfortable with her."
"Professionalism and excellence, Mr. Lasten lives to teach music.
My son is 10 yrs old and has been taking lessons with Mr. Lasten for almost 9 months now
. To enroll my son in guitar lessons with Mr. Lasten has been one of the best decisions I have made for my son's life; as a minimum, it has enriched his spirit, it has given him art, a new challenge, inspiration, confidence, and companionship for life! Mr. Lasten has guided and taught my son with professionalism, patience, love and dedication, and it reflects on the love my son has for the guitar. Mr. Lasten is an excellent professor and great human being. I highly recommend Mr. Lasten as a music professor. vsc"
"Jesse is patient and kind. He pushes my 9 year old granddaughter a bit and she responds! She's already playing a few songs (recognizable, even) after onl
y about 3-4 lessons. She practices many days (not all) and seems, in her unassuming way, to look forward to showing Jesse how she is doing."
