About Lynn
Whether you are 5, 25, or perhaps 85 years old when you make the decision to enter the world of music, you will be changing your life for the positive.

Your relationship with music & your chosen instrument is unique &
will be lifelong.  I look forward to sharing your
excitement as we pursue the path to comfort, confidence & the
eventual, inevitable joy you will achieve with your new friend.

*** Lesson Details ***
In a calm, easy going atmosphere you can expect to laugh a bit, as it is called 'playing music', as well as become focused & disciplined to succeed.

You will learn to have an understanding of how to read & play a minimum of 3 songs each month, & will be picking up enough music theory as it applies to your instrument each week to feel confident & inspired to continue on as far as you desire.

We will learn how to
'play well with others' in informal as well as more structured gatherings every few months, with no pressure, only compassion & encouragement.

For those wishing to join in the fun of playing bluegrass music, we will start out with technique exercises, scales, basic melodies & accompaniment patterns to prepare you to learn this unique & exciting style of American music. There are many gatherings in the area called 'Pickin' Parties' that I want to get you ready to participate in as soon as is humanly possible.

If you are one of those brave souls undertaking the lovely but challenging fretless instrument, the violin, my main focus is to get you started with the all the necessary basic techniques - holding the instrument & bow correctly, getting the best possible tone & pitch using efficiency & accuracy, mixed with a great deal of ear training & heart.

Specific songs you'd like to learn? Your reward for accomplishing what I deem necessary on whichever instrument you've chosen will be for us to then listen to & analyze your desired piece, & I will then write it out in either tablature or standard notation.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lesson studio contains music stand, tuner, metronome, & there is easy parking in the well-lit front lot.

*** Travel Equipment ***

I've been playing and performing for over twenty years and can teach you to play like a pro as well. Whether it's blues, folk or rock and roll I can help you to develop your skills and move towards your musical goals.

About Mark
Mark L.
I was born in California but raised in the sleepy town of Beaverton, Oregon, enmeshed in massive groves of pine and poplar trees and long, cool rainy days. I entered into the world of creativity and music when I was just thirteen by composing poetry and song lyrics, and began dabbling with my sister's used classical guitar when I was 15. From there, I taught myself simple songs by composers like Neil Young, America and Crosby Stills and Nash and developed an interest in rock and blues. I began taking lessons in guitar and voice and was completely dedicated to the guitar never missing a day of practice for over 6 years.
I began performing in my teens playing at parties, small clubs and coffee shops. I specialized in songs with strong vocal parts and worked diligently at perfecting my singing voice and my ability to accompany m
yself smoothly and precisely. I started getting more involved with harder rocking bands such as Pearl Jam and the Foo Fighters and prided myself with the ability to match the vocal parts in both accuracy and intensity. I raised the level of professionalism up on my own writing skills as well and publishing a lyrical device in a poetry publication known as “In Dappled Sunlight.” I also enjoying some radio airplay for one of my songs and was fortunate enough to open for the illustrious Paul Kantner and Jefferson Starship in an acoustic set in Denver, Co.
Although my formal education was in Psychology and Counseling, I continued taking lessons in guitar and voice while simultaneously refining my sound and my skills. I also began teaching during this time working with students from 5 to sixty-five and focusing on acoustic guitar skills as well as vocal training and most of all, finding enjoyment in music. To me, teaching is an integral part of music as I truly believe that the gift of music is wasted unless its shared with others. Seeing a student realize his or her musical dreams is one of the greatest joys that I have experienced as a musician and I'm dedicated to the teaching process for life. I'm also dedicated to performing and to this day I have done over 1000 shows, playing the coziest of street corner pubs to big festivals with thousands of people present. I feel that this performance experience in combination with over 20 great years of teaching has made me the highly qualified instructor that I am today.
Although there are many singer/songwriters, I feel I am unique in that I strive to incorporate power and passion into the simplest of musical pieces and have learned how to teach this process to others. I feel that finding the passion in music, whether it be rhythm or lead guitar or voice, can make the difference between being a mediocre musician and a great one regardless of your skill level. I feel I have the insight and patience as well to work with anyone who has the desire and dedication to become a great musician.
I now live in the beautiful town of Fort Collins, Colorado where I both perform and teach with regularity and also operate my counseling practice where I specialize in helping children and adults work through anxiety and depression. I hope to work with each of you in the near future and help you to achieve the lofty musical goals that you have set out for yourself. Mark

*** Lesson Details ***
Simply stated, students can expect what they're willing to contribute to the learning process. At least half of learning is done before or after the lesson during the student's practice time so the time in between lessons is extremely important. Although I am a laid back instructor, I also have high expectations of the student and will define those in the first lesson. The curriculum is based on years of teaching experience and will be tailor-made to your current age, development and experience level. The word "dedication" is an important one here as well because if you're dedicated, then you 'll become a life-time learner and musician rather than a part time participant. So, after 3-6 months you may learn almost nothing or you will become a proficient player, it's all up to you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
loft 400 sq feet open, airy multiple instruments seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring instruments although I would hope they also have some of their own as well.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in manifesting powerful dynamics in voice and performance, specifically in blues, rock, alternative and folk music. I also incorporate some of the Alexander technique into some of my teaching (no, I am not certified in Alexander but have participated in some of the classes).

About Matthew
Matthew grew up in Austin, TX attending the Waldorf School and playing music of various styles on saxophone and guitar. For his musical education, he took 8 years of private lessons starting at age 12.

His first teacher was Billy Green aka Wil Greenstreet who currently plays a residency atop the Empire State Building. Green taught guitar and saxophone lessons to Kelly back to back and unleashed a powerful passion for music within. When Green moved to NY, Kelly was refered to Scott McIntosh, a world-traveled saxophonist and arranger from Quebec. For Kelly that was when it got real..

After 5 years of jazz theory and saxophone lessons with McIntosh, Matthew was invited to join a funk band in High School and the band's SXSW showcase at the old Alligator Grill was the beginning of his musical career.

Over the past 12 years Kelly h
as gone on to play with a long list of different ensembles across many state lines.

At age 19 he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and once there studied under virtuoso saxophonist Joshua Smith and master guitarist Andy Tran.

Kelly found a residency with a local San Jose group and did six months with The Craig Robinson Blues Band while he was gaining music students and slowly transitioning into a full-time music life. He also played with Lowfat an established Bay Area original dance band, was hired by the Darell Patrick Jazz Ensemble for private events and recorded for The Jake Makey Band before moving to Colorado in search of a higher chance of musical success paired with a lower cost of living.

In Fort Collins, CO Matthew sat in as a guest artist regularly with local jazz pianist Mark Sloniker at his residency at Jay's Bistro. Busking paid very well and helped keep the bills paid. Then Kelly could pursue playing 2 instruments in an original jam band The Hot Coal.

While in Fort Collins Kelly gave 6 months of guitar lessons to 2016 Scene Magazine coveree Elise Wunder to help her accomplish her performance goals. Today she travels the world playing her amazing original music.

In 2011 Matthew felt the need to return home. Knowing Austin is the real place to share the music and being from here, he rode his bicycle back here and eventually found the musical projects that he plays in today.

Just had my first lesson with Matt and had to come home and immediately write about it. Matt is a fantastic teacher with loads of music knowledge. He truly has a soul for music and can easily break down complicated musical teachings to a beginner level. He is extremely talented and personable and I cannot wait for my next lesson. I have not felt this excited about playing in along time and a lot of this excitement is due to how much learned in my first session with Matt and how much more I have to look forward to. Matt is a true musician in every since of the word and I highly recommend him to anyone that wants more than just to learn how to play notes but learn to play soulful, beautiful music of any genre.

I recommend Matt to be your music teacher.
He's nice, chill, fun, easy to talk to, flexible...

I learned so much from his lessons because he can come down to beginners level.
The way he explains things are simple and easy to understand even I didn't have any music background.

I really enjoyed lessons from him. If my time works out, I would love to come back to his class again!

I have been a music teacher for 17+ years and an instructor for an online platform for guitar instruction--which collaborates with Full Sail, Berkeley, and Musician's Institute, as well as artists such as the famous Brent Mason, Joe Satriani band members, Bumblefoot (Rolling Stones) and others.

About Dave
I own a local music/art/production institution which hosts lessons for many instruments and artistic pursuits. Personally, I've been teaching for over 17 years, and I teach beginner to advanced students in instruments like guitar, bass, piano/keys, voice, and drums, and depending on your needs, our studio offers a variety of professional teachers that teach all woodwind, brass, and stringed instruments.

I also am an online teacher for a the world's biggest web platform for guitar instruction, and teach lessons alongside those in Berklee alumni, Musician's Institute, as well with many very famous artists that are now in the music business.

Though I've had the fortune to work with some of the best in studios, as a songwriter, and player, and in education, both professional and informal, I love to teach entry level players up through
the intermediate levels the most. I enjoy watching people discover things for the first time, and in my teaching I really do my best to craft my lessons to the needs of the students. My primary aim in teaching is that I would cultivate in my students a love for music and learning. With these two things in place, a student can go on to be and learn anything.

Join me and my studio. We'll have a great time, and we'll get you to your goals while we're enjoying the journey of music together!!

I think the most important thing that I have to offer is the ability to motivate and inspire students. I think it is extremely important to teach whatever the student is interested in, that way they stay inspired and will continue to want to learn.

About Karney
I believe the key to the success of the student is that they enjoy what they are doing and gain confidence through the skills they have worked hard to develop.

Several of my students have auditioned for and were accepted as the sole guitar seat in the junior high, high school, and college jazz bands. A few of my younger students received honors in their grade school music programs.

Want to learn how to play your favorite songs on the guitar and learn how they work? I'm the teacher for you! I teach all ages and styles and will tailor the curriculum to your needs and goals. I graduated from the Santa Fe University of Art & Design, and have been teaching for the last four years. Send me a message and let's get rockin'!

About Trevor
Willa says:
"A talented guitarist for multiple styles, and a very patient teacher!"

Ned says:
"Trevor clearly explains guitar techniques in line with students’ ability to implement."

I am a diverse and skilled lead and rhythm guitarist. I play Rock, Jazz, Blues, and Balkan music. I started my journey with Eric Clapton and George Harrison in 2004. I graduated with honors from the Contemporary Music Program at Santa Fe University of Art & Design in 2015.

I played lead guitar in a progressive rock power trio called Get Safe for three years. During my time at school, I was also exposed to Balkan and Middle Eastern music styles, which broadened my understanding of music and my technique. My most current project is one that fuses jazz guitar and electronic dance music, which I've titled SOZN.

Noah is by far the best teacher I've ever come across! Here's my story:

I was accepted into the Berklee College of Music as a Vocal Performance Major. However, my knowledge of theory, arranging, and harmony was nothing close to where it needed to be to succeed in my first semester. I ended my first semester with a 1.9 GPA. For the next semester, I was put on academic probation and was required to meet with a Berklee peer tutor once a week. This is where I met Noah. He was my peer tutor. Within our first session alone, I was immediately relieved that there was SOMEONE out that cared enough to take the time to really teach me everything that I needed to learn about theory, harmony, and arranging. He was extremely patient and kind. Where most students who were in my predicament dreaded to meet with their peer tutors weekly, I looked forward to meeting with Noah. In fact, I called the head of the tutoring department and asked if I could meet with Noah twice a week instead of once a week! Noah didn't hesitate, but instead agreed and we met twice a week! We even met for tutoring sessions when it wasn't required! He literally saved my second semester! I went from completely failing tests two getting A+ on all of my exams! At the end of that semester, I went from a 1.9 GPA to a 3.0 GPA!

Not only is Noah just amazing at everything theory, harmony, and arranging, composing, etc. and an amazing teacher that actually cares about his students, he's also an amazing musician! A multi-instrumentalist at that! I've had the pleasure of seeing him play multiple instruments in multiple styles and genres and he's by far the best musician I've ever come across. I would recommend him to anyone! Really! I'm not just saying this! If there is anyone you should be talking to or learning from in regards to all things music, Noah is the guy to go to!

THANK YOU NOAH!!!

I am incredibly passionate about music and playing the guitar. I have been playing for a little over a decade. I have taught friends, family and neighbors in the past. In beginner lessons I will go over basic chords, strumming, picking, and using guitar tabs. For my intermediate students I will go over scales, advanced chords, music theory, improvisation, and much more. Give my lessons a try and I'm sure you will find I am a fun teacher with knowledge to share at a great price

About Alexander
My name is Alex and I am 24 years old. I recently graduated from college and moved west. I have been playing guitar for 11 years and in the past couple of years started to teach myself piano. I have loved music ever since I can remember. Classic rock is what really got my into guitar as a middle schooler. Due to the influence of my dad's favorite bands as well as the video game Guitar Hero I found interest in the instrument. I started out learning on my own, using the internet, and gained a basic understanding of the instrument. After about a year of "learning" guitar on my own, my parents enrolled me in lessons from a family friend. It was through his incredible teaching that I really became the guitar player I am today. I found that the direct guidance of someone who knows the instrument is crucial to developing as a guitar player. Afte
r years of lessons I decided that I would love to someday teach guitar to others who were excited to learn.

I have taught lessons to family, friends, and a few neighbors in the past couple of years. Both of my parents are school teachers and I have always felt I would enjoy teaching a subject that I am passionate about. Guitar is that subject for me. During my lessons we will spend time on the methods, techniques, and theory of music/guitar as well as learning songs selected by you. I think that learning should be enjoyable, so if you take lessons from me I guarantee it will be a good time.
