Students can expect an "original" lesson based on they way they learn. Some students absorb material from reading music or tablature while others respond in an auditory way or "by ear." What ever the style in all cases leaning an instrument should be a fun thing to do. The best.

About Richard

I have studied, performed and taught music for over 30 years. Accordion was my first instrument at age 7 which was a great introduction to the keyboard, melody and harmony. That was followed by guitar and other stringed instruments (Banjo, Ukulele) as well as drums. I studied with great teachers

We are so thankful we found Patrick! Patrick is a very effective teacher who’s able to relate and motivate students. Our daughter was loosing interest in playing piano due to her former teacher’s approach. Now she’s back to practicing because she wants to and is so excited to see Patrick each week. We are very greatful that she’s back to loving piano and continuing to learn.

I love to share the experience of making music with others. Each one of my lessons is tailored to the student's individual needs. After recognizing both strengths and weaknesses, I take care to develop lessons that are inspiring, fun, and engaging to my students. With experience in varying styles of guitar, having studied jazz, classical, and world music at New York University and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and having experience playing and touring internationally with a variety of contemporary groups, I share what I have learned to help the student grow.

About Prawit

Guitarist and Composer based in Brooklyn, New York, with a Masters in Jazz Studies from New York University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Studies from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Wit's understanding and non-dogmatic teaching style made classes high-quality and stress-free. Remote instruction was deeply engaging, which I wasn't expecting as someone who is used to in-person music classes. I definitely learned more than I have in any other guitar class.

I especially appreciated that class felt like a discussion rather than a recital. Instead of following one method or theme, I was encouraged to completely shift our attention at any time if there was anything I was curious about.

Wit presents difficult ideas with enough context that I, having a limited understanding of theory, felt able to keep up and incorporate higher-level concepts into my writing/playing.

Can't recommend Wit's classes enough!

I love the structure he provides, and also the fact that he makes sure to check in as you are progressing. 👏🏼 I highly recommend him as a teacher

Each lesson is designed on the level of the student's ability from beginner to advanced. Rock, R&B, funk, jazz, blues, POP and country music. I like to use song learning as a vehicle to sharpen your skills. Learning skills through songs is more fun for beginners. More advanced students will work on everything from theory, reading, harmony; and how you can use scales and arpeggios in a number of ways over several different styles of music.

He is good!!!
I can play the very basic when I started but still need someone to help me to put everything together. He can diagnosis my level and design the learning plan for me when we first met. Lesson is fun and he always got something new/interesting to for students to work and practice.

Incredible and knowledgeable guitar instructor!

I just realized how important to have a teacher right in front me to guide and correct my fingers when I had my 1st class with Stephen. Just like everybody else, I took the online lessons for few months with other teacher and also learned from Youtube on my own in the last two years. I can play but I knew I was missing something.

He really brought me to the next level.
Katherine
Lesson was fun!!!!

I can play the basic chords before I met him. Stephen can oversee the problems and fix it when in the first lesson. I was like....WoW!!! He is a experienced guitar instructor. Impressed!!!

I've been teaching guitar for over eight years. I've previously been a part of two bands during my formative years and recently have been a session guitar player for four upcoming indie rock, alternative, and R&B/Soul albums.
For children and beginners, I use the Mel Bay publication Children's Guitar Chord Book as well as Hal Leonard's Guitar Method series. I also apply basic music theory that includes learning the Circle of Fifths and basic reading of sheet music.

For intermediate guitar players, I utilize the Gibson's Learn and Master Guitar series to teach Power Chord Formation and Delivery, Fingerpicking, Pentatonic Scales, Reading Tabulature, and tackling some of classic rock and jazz's favorite tunes.

For guitar lessons at my studio, I leverage Guitar Pro to project and display tabs and play-alongs with ease. For in-home lessons, I use the software for select lessons as we begin song selection and play-alongs.

I can't wait to rock out with you as you find your inner ...

I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!

"Steven is a great teacher! He's flexible, and works well with all ages! He's teaching my 3 kids, drums, guitar and bass. He's very receptive and adjusts his lessons according to what my kids are interested in. For example one of my kids was learning notes, but then the other wanted to learn a specific song and he easily adjusted to focus on what each of them wanted to do to. My kids love him!"

"Athena is a great teacher. She really knows how to respond to individual needs and skill level of the student. In just a few lessons, she has already cleared a lot of obstacles for me, like addressing why was having pain in my hands and helping to correct that. Now I cannot wait every day to practice the guitar and I'm playing a song I've always wanted to play and it sounds recognizable after only three days. With more work on my part, I am sure that it will get better, and I know that Athena will keep giving me guidance that I can understand. And, she's fun!"

He had a lot of ideas and suggestions that were really helpful in trying to create a unique composing style. He's a trained musician, and it shows when he helps me with music theory and exposing me to lots of different styles of music."
