My previous teaching experiences include violin private lesson instruction and chamber music/ensemble coach at Yale University and New England Conservatory Preparatory School. I have been a teaching artist at Porterville Summer Strings for two summer seasons, giving individual instructions and coaching violin sectionals.
I am a graduate of Yale School of Music and New England Conservatory. My teaching focus primarily on good foundation of technique and relaxed posture/physical set up, while inspiring musicality and developing personal expression. Now, it has been one month, and I enjoy his classes. His analogies and examples are an apt way of understanding the techniques of playing the violin. Though Dr. Dimitry is an advanced violinist, he is very patient with absolute beginners. To sum up, I would highly recommend him to people who are very serious and determined to learn and practice the violin.

As an instrumentalist and composer, I have the privilege of an active and successful career in Music, performing across the country with world-class artists, as well as writing music for some of the most sought after international performers.
I believe Music is, most importantly, a tool for communication. As a teacher, I strive to show students how to use this tool on their path towards clearer, more confident self-expression, and in so doing, further myself along the same path.

He is also a brilliant composer, and is an excellent composition teacher as well! Although my lessons were mostly focused on violin, he provided much useful advice for improving my compositions for orchestra and symphonic band as well.
I highly recommend Kris as an instructor for music students of any proficiency level!

I have never played a violin before, and she is walking me through the process with patience, clear instructions, different interesting and fun ways of explaining concepts, which make lessons flow easily. By the time the lesson ends, I can hardly notice that an hour has passed by.
It is a joy to have her as a teacher. I have had a few questions off schedule, and she has never failed to answer them promptly.
I look forward to every lesson I have with her to keep learning to play this beautiful and amazing instrument."

attempts to follow his instruction,..my only regret is i didn't find him sooner.I highly recommend him,...you will not be dissapointed"

We have enjoyed having Maureen as our familyâs music teacher. My son started taking flute lessons with Maureen in 2009 and advanced through the levels very quickly. He plays flute in YOSAC (Youth Orchestra of Southern Alameda County). He also plays saxophone and tried out and was selected for the Alameda County Honor Band. Maureen worked with him on jazz theory and improvisation and he plays in the jazz band at school. With Maureen, he worked through all six levels of Master Theory and is ready for the college level AP Music Theory at 14 years old. He also completed the MTAC (Music Teachersâ Association of California) Composerâs Today workbooks and used http://www.noteflight.com to write his own music and participate in composition contests. My daughter has been taking piano and violin lessons with Maureen and has been doing a great job. She is playing classical music on violin in school and in YOSAC (Youth Orchestra of Southern Alameda County). On piano she is learning to play the blues and jazz, as well as learning theory and composition. Both of my children have been able to successfully participate in the LaHonda Summer Music Camp. We have had a great experience with Maureen throughout the past 5 years and have enjoyed seeing her each week."

All musical instruments require attention and maintenance. When it comes to the violin, however, it is easy to forget that the bow needs as much care as the instrument itself. After all, the way you treat your violin bows will affect the way the violin sounds. If too much resin builds up on the hairs, for example, the sound will come out wrong. While it may not be as costly to repair or replace violin bows, why waste money when it’s easy to keep your violin bows in good working condition? …
