Hi, my name is Gabriel and I teach guitar mandolin, and ukulele!
I teach all levels from beginner to advanced. Styles ranging from fingerpicking, Travis picking (folk Americana classical) chicken pickin (country), flat picking (bluegrass) economy picking(fusion jazz) , alternative , sweep picking and most styles of guitar.

I’ve been playing music for 20 years, and have been performing for 7. I’ve studied music theory at sierra college for 2 years. I also play with the band Brotherly Mud who are hailed as the best up and coming Americana band of the Northern California region. I find my students needs and work with them! Whether it be theory, songwriting, technique or improvising.
My guitar and mandolin influences range from
-David Grisman
-Billy Strings
-Doc Watson
-John Fahey
-Jerry Garcia
-John scofield
-Hendrix
-Tosin Abasi
-Marty Friedman
-Allan Holdsworth (worst guitar player from another galaxy)
-Yngwie Malmsteen (aka Phrygian dominant)
-Guthrie Govan
-Mateus Asato

About Gabriel

Most beginners I’ve encountered have no idea what they want to play or even why. my suggestion is before coming to your teacher pinpoint the what and the why. Why did you want to learn guitar? Was it a song, or a really cool sounding riff? Did you see someone play live and feel like “I could do th

I'm a believer that almost anyone can learn to play music well, and guitar is no exception. It's something which seems difficult at first, but has a series of specific steps (like any instrument) which take the mystery out of it, and get you playing in no time! I love seeing students improve on this instrument and seeing how much fun they have once they begin to play songs they love.

About Colin

I'm a life-long musician with a passion for the art and a love of teaching it. In 2012, I graduated from Sacramento State with a Bachelors in Music. Through my schooling and personal study, I have become a well-rounded musician able to teach many instruments effectively. Making music with others

Colin has been a fantastic teacher for my 12-year old son, who is learning his first instrument. Colin is kind, friendly, personable, and easy-going. He keeps the lessons fresh and fun. My son has made a very nice connection with Colin and really enjoys his lessons.
Jennifer
It's pretty terrifying to try a new instrument, especially one like the trumpet--which is so loud and obvious if you're wrong! Colin was supportive and warm and encouraging, and kept me at ease and willing to keep trying. He seems knowledgeable in alot of areas of music too, which is an added bonus. Highly recommend!

Colin is personable, encouraging and warm. I enjoyed my first lesson with him and expect to have a good experience in the future.

I want students to excel the fastest they can on guitar. Though I know it is important to let students learn at their own pace, I will never cease to challenge them through difficult pieces or exercises. I will develop plans and keep track of progress so that students and I can stay organized and ensure the learning is fluent. I will direct lessons based on what the student wants to learn most and what genres of music they are interested in. I also change the structure of lessons based on how the student learns. The basics I want students to learn from my lessons are basic chords, fretboard knowledge and music theory, finger-picking styles, pick and strumming techniques, left-hand techniques, and most importantly I want to teach students how to listen. I will train students ears through ear training exercises and songs. I firmly believe the better the student’s ears can get, the better the musician they can be. Besides just teaching songs, I want students to understand the theory, ...

William is my first guitar teacher. As daunting as it can be to learn an instrument, he created a comfortable experience for me. He's incredibly talented and his love for music truly shows (which is inspiring). I initially started with the desire to learn jazz and William opened my eyes to explore other genres that integrate with jazz. Im excited to continue to learn and grow with music. I highly recommend anyone at any level to take lessons with William.

Thank you, William!

Still getting the hang of online lessons and don’t have much to compare it to but my son seems to enjoy it almost as much as live lessons.
Alec L.
My son loved his first class. Learned more in one day than he did in a month with his old teacher
Thank you William!

I am an experienced guitar teacher of 10+ years. I specialize in Classical guitar, teaching finger style techiniques in the style of Christopher Parkening. I also teach Folk guitar including reading tab and chords. I encourage my students to learn to read their notes. Most of my students learn more than one style and have gone on to perform for their school's talent shows and public recitals.

"I've been learning with Eric for a year now and my playing has progressed ten-fold. Have been able to pick up jazz concepts which I never thought I would, as well as apply practical theory and scales to my playing which has opened up the fretboard.

The best part, though, has been writing my own songs and breaking them down with Eric to add/remove things that work or don't work. Now starting to record some ideas and workshop them further -- something I never thought I'd be doing! Can't recommend Eric highly enough. He's flexible, highly experienced and teaches in a relaxed environment."

"Simply put, Ahmad is an amazing guitarist and an excellent teacher. He demonstrates, he guides, he gets to know his students and what they are looking for in a guitar lesson, and then he delivers 100 fold. I've been studying with Ahmad on and off for about eight months. He devotes beyond the lesson time and provides at home continued study materials and jam tracks. My lead playing has greatly improved and I am learning chord positions I never knew existed. Not only is he helping me get to the next level in my guitar playing, he's made a number of introductions for me. He is very patient, with a kind heart and immense talent, which he shares freely with his students. You or your child will certainly get your money's worth, and have a great time while learning. I highly recommend Ahmad."

"I have two sons that have been taking lessons with Jordan for 10 months. He is teaching both my sons, one the guitar and the other piano. I have used one previous instructor from takelessons.com for piano lessons and he was good. However, Jordan does not constantly reschedule lessons and I can see more progress in how fast my son is learning and his enthusiasm to learn. I am happy I switched my son who plays the piano to Jordan, whom was already teaching my other son guitar.

Key Points:
Jordan, is good at assessing a student’s abilities and interests and adjusting his lessons accordingly

He makes the lessons fun and challenging.

He has gone out of his way to learn about my sons and their interests, so when they were introduced to guitar and piano, they were able to learn and play music that they already enjoyed listening to

He is a gifted musician but also highly skilled at teaching. He works well with families and has a flexible schedule.

He is fair but firm with students

The highlight for me was hearing my sons have a jam session together

Jordan has a wonderful ability to relate to people. He has excellent skill and enthusiasm, making my sons WANT to learn.

I would highly recommend him as a teacher."

Spice Up Your Playing with these Essential Guitar Strum Patterns

Many guitarists have a tendency to focus most of their practice time and energy on left-hand fretting technique. Although the left hand is very important, mastering different rhythms and guitar strum patterns with your right hand adds a whole new dimension to your guitar playing. Understanding Guitar Strum Patterns Start by playing a simple chord progression. Ideally, you should be able to play through the chords without looking at the fingers on your left hand. Starting with a simple prog …
