About Chris
Hi there! My name is Chris and I've been playing music my entire life and I believe that with the right attitude and environment anyone can achieve musical greatness!

I was born into a musical family and have studied classical piano since I was 4 years old! I am very well versed in music theory and proper technique, with an emphasis on avoiding player's injuries, as well as a great knowledge of classical Pieces for any skill level.

Alas!

As a young teenager I grew rebellious and learned how to play the electric guitar and have since sought teachers outside my family to learn modern styles and 5 other instruments!! I have also worked toward a music degree and have made music the center of my life.

Classical music is not everyone's passion but a good practice routine, attitude and environment is always a good thing to ha
ve as these things are important regardless of your favorite music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are held with a fun and relaxed attitude. Learning music should always be enjoyable and a good attitude and love for music is cultured and encouraged.

Lessons are structured just like a practice session should be. We will begin with a warm-up exercise designed to acquaint you with the proper technique to meet your personal musical goals. the next activities are highly personalized, but is usually something like reading music or a music theory game. These activities are things that are good for you but may not be your favorite part of learning music. They will, however, go a long way toward your better understanding of how your favorite music is structured.

Examples could be learning about 12 bar blues, common strum patterns (for guitar), scales, sight-reading, or music analysis.

We will spend the rest of class learning and practicing an activity of your choice. This is usually a song but can be anything you wish to improve upon. this is usually a long-term goal of yours. *I've always wanted to learn......*

By structuring our lessons the same as how you will practice, and by keeping good notes, it will be easy for you to take on practice at home and achieve all of your musical goals!

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students should have their own guitar/piano/keyboard etc. Guitar/violin students should also have a music stand and tuner to keep at home. I will bring picks, spare tuner, music, and handouts.

*** Specialties ***
I primarily specialize in classical piano in styles such as Muzio Clementi and Frederic Chopin. I also play Bach and various Spanish classical guitar pieces. I have also extensively studied electric guitar in Blues such ZZ Top, Metal such as Metallica, and rock such as Led Zeppelin. I have also studied Irish and Celtic folk music for instruments such as Mandolin and Violin.

Reading Treble staff, chord shapes, improvisation, finger technique, tablature reading and composition.

About Ruben
Over the course of my musical career, I have had the opportunity to learn from many musicians. From University Professors to Street Corner Musicians, I have gathered much knowledge on how to play music. Applying that knowledge to my guitar playing has opened up many doors of opportunity and has made my life very interesting. One of my talents is to take complicated ideas and convey them in easy to understand ideas for my students. I now wish to share all my knowledge and experiences with you to enjoy a life of music.
Students of mine have been able to create their own music to record and perform. Ensembles that I have directed have performed at many local venues. I have also invited students to join me at my performances to help them become more confident in their playing.

I have been teaching guitar professionally since 2001 and p
erforming professionally since 1994.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson is custom made to directly benefit each student. The music the student enjoys listening to, is explored to identify what skills are needed to play that music on their instrument. Exercises are then tailored to give students the finger strength and dexterity to directly attain those needed skills.

Favorite songs are also examined to understand the musical theory concepts that were used to create those songs. Once those concepts are understood there is no stopping the student from creating their own music.

Parents and guardians are more than welcome to be part of the process. Involving parents in their children's education is my pleasure. My studio has a comfortable waiting area where you can wait until the lesson is done. Questions are always appreciated.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Two chairs, music, computer, internet, digital recording equipment, guitar, guitar amps, parents can sit in on lesson, bass, ukulele.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide whatever is necessary. Student should provide their instrument, music stand, and two chairs. Access to electrical outlet not mandatory.

*** Specialties ***

Rock and Roll, Blues, Folk, Pop, they can all be played on the guitar. Let's find out where you want to go with your guitar.

About Steve
Learning to play music should be fun. Learning to play the songs you like and listen to everyday is a good first step in that direction.

As early as I can remember our house was filled with music. My parents had records of the popular music of the time as well as movie soundtrack albums. At eight years old I got my first trumpet and joined the school band. Soon I was taking private lessons. We also had a piano in the house and I often found myself sitting and trying out chords and melodies to fit the songs I would hear. At sixteen I got my first guitar, along with a songbook that promised I could play “hundreds of songs with just three magic chords”.

Moving west I studied music at West Los Angeles College and played trumpet in the school’s concert band. A group of us formed a jazz quintet and started playing gigs in and aroun
d LA. We then expanded the scope of the band by adding a second sax and more exotic percussion as well as incorporating elements of reggae and rock into our original music. This helped us land jobs at clubs like the Troubadour and larger venues like the Shrine Exhibition Hall. We played together professionally for five years.

After at stint at the Dick Grove School of Music I joined an eight piece cover band playing popular dance music. We toured Western Canada for six months, riding in a converted city bus and taking turns driving a large panel truck with our equipment. When I returned I met a talented female singer who also played flute. We formed a pop/rock quintet and played professionally in the LA area for several years.

I’ve continued to take lessons along the way and have taught trumpet, piano and guitar to both young people and adults. I believe my rich musical journey and my experiences both teaching and performing can help you to achieve your musical goals!

*** Lesson Details ***
Listening to music is fun. Playing music is fun. Learning to play a musical instrument should be just as much fun. The first step toward a solid musical education is to find out what type of music the student likes and what particular musician or artist he or she enjoys. From there we can choose material that the student will have fun performing as they learn.

Each session will involve a brief review of previous material covered and a preview of ideas to work on going forward. In between, the student and I will play together and discuss how best we can each improve, and have a little fun along the way!!

I will work with a variety of methods and concepts customized to fit each student. My experience has shown me that no two students are alike, but every student will enjoy playing more, and more often, if they like the study material.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have my own instruments but would expect the student to have their own instrument for lessons and practice.

*** Specialties ***
Pop, rock, reggae, R&B, blues.

I have been playing the Guitar since I was in junior high and love being able to play. I enjoy passing on the knowledge I have to my students so they can write and/or perform their own songs, or just to play for their own enjoyment. I teach acoustic guitar, strumming styles, good timing, and fairly advanced finger picking techniques. My students range form 7 years on up.

About Susan
My primary focus is teaching the best and most effective Vocal Techniques to students of all ages and backgrounds. I also teach Acoustic Guitar and finger picking. My teaching includes the Orff and Suzuki methods of music for Children. My primary focus is on teaching singing and I have been teaching beginning to advanced Voice, as well as beginning to intermediate acoustic guitar privately for over 25 years. My students perform in recitals at least twice a year. They also participate in local Broadway productions and Musicals for C.Y.T., Coast Kids, Moonlight Theatre, Escondido Center for The Arts, J Company, and Star Theatre Productions. Students also are involved with Classical, Choral, Gospel, Pop and Rock performing. Along with these venues, students perform for talent shows at their schools, sing in bands, and perform locally at thei
r favorite venues. Many of my students have gone on to sing professionally and I currently teach Artists with ongoing careers.

My motto is learn to sing the "Easy, Natural Way". I teach the very best techniques, so vocalizing is not strained or difficult. My main focus is on teaching good "placement" of the sound, using the best ways to secure breath support and control, as well as good stage presence. Dealing with stage fright is always addressed, whether the singer wants to sing just for themselves, or audition for Musical Theatre productions. Styles range from pop to rock and opera.
I teach students of ALL AGES and work with every style or genre of music. Having spearheaded the Music program at the local YMCA has been a special treat in my teaching career!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I teach using a piano for learning vocal exercises and good techniques. I also have an acoustic Guitar that I use to teach my students how to play and learn good finger picking and strumming techniques. Using a computer is always employed, to pull up songs on YouTube, so students can choose what they would like to work on. Karaoke versions are used as well, for further training purposes.

*** Travel Equipment ***
When I teach at a student's home, I bring my Guitar with me, if they're studying this instrument. It is helpful for a student to have a piano or keyboard for me to teach voice, but I do have a keyboard I can bring if none is available. Having a computer close by is very helpful, to get the most out of the lesson as is possible.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in helping people who have created possible "bad habits" in their singing techniques. "Placement" and breathing, or "support", are of key importance. When good techniques are used, just about anyone can learn to sing beautifully. I also work with all ages, having background with Children, as well as teens, middle age, and elderly vocalists. Singing is universal, so every ethnicity is included in my student roster. If someone wants to learn to play the acoustic Guitar, this is always a plus, to accompany ones-self, or to focus on the instrument on it's own. Singing and playing should be "easy" and this is the approach I take in teaching.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching guitar to all ages and levels! And in a myriad of styles too- Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical, Flamenco, Country, Folk, etc. If you are looking to flourish and grow as a well rounded guitarist then sign up to begin your musical journey...

About David
A fun, friendly, and professional Music Instructor at your service for Voice, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums, & Ukulele! I have a BA degree from Florida Atlantic University in Music Performance for Classical/Flamenco/Jazz/Blues guitar and I've also performed on the Piano/Keyboards for a couple different bands too. Love to play & teach pretty much all styles of music! It is always a pure joy & truly rewarding to see my music students grow and flourish in their musical abilities. I have been enjoying doing this now for 20+ years- all ages & levels. I am also in a multi-dimensional rock project and a recording artist with my band Vision.

I believe it's important to learn the rudiments of music to build a good foundation (scales, chord vocabulary, theory, song-composition, performing techniques), but I also base the lessons on whatever th
e interests and strengths are for the student. For example, if you enjoy jazz more than classical we'll focus more on what you are particularly passionate about. I have also been a part of School of Rock Programs in which we provided performances for the students a la Jack Black. Please contact Takelessons to let the musical journey begin...

Open and individualized lessons will teach each student in a unique fashion to fit them best. Chords, theory and musical reading will be the main focus of these lessons. My individualized approach works well for many students so that they learn what they want, how they want, and see the results that they specifically are looking for.

Students can expect to learn anything from basic chords to advanced theory and improvisational techniques on their instrument.

As a college graduate with an emphasis in guitar i feel that my mastery over the instrument and ability to teach is is second to none in the area. I feel equally confident in my mastery over acoustic guitar and electric guitar although acoustic guitar is my preferred instrument to teach. Learn the Tricks of the trade and get up and going fast!!!

About John
I have 37 years of playing and 12 years of teaching beginning and intermediate drummers by ear, performance & notation. Preforming drums has brought so much enjoyment to my life and has expanded my cognitive and creative mind more than I would have ever realized when I started in 1978. Teaching/sharing my drumming experience is a passion, my students are taught not only how to play drums but also about music structure (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.), how to perform with other musicians and how to dissect a piece of music. Various styles and rhythms are taught and rudiments are covered thoroughly - nothing better than an impressive double stroke roll! I have always been a teacher that I feel can understand each personality and adjust my approach to each lesson as needed and furthermore, I always treat my students with respect, courtesy and
patience which I find makes them more apt to relax, listen, learn, feel the music and have fun!
