I am pretty easy going. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease, but we do need to focus and can have fun doing it. :)
I utilize various methods for each instrument, which is determined by the students learning style and ability; needs, so this can change as time goes on (not sticking to one particular publishers materials). I have done (and continue to do) extensive research into materials available for each instrument I teach, and supplement with my own, to utilize the best out there for "YOU" for the best possible progress. While ensuring an extremely well-rounded musical education, so you can progress at the best possible rate. Since each student's potential is different, each will progress differently. This is also determined by your dedication to daily practice (the more you practice, the quicker you will progress & the more accomplished you will become). This is a 'Team Effort'; I give the guidance and tools. You practice, utilize learn these tools, and off we go! The sky is the limit!

Private Cello Teacher

Cello lessons in my studio, at your home, or on-line.

About Jessica

I have 20 years of playing experience along with a Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance. I was the section leader of my university's orchestra as well as a full-scholarship member of the university quartet. As a professional gigging musician, I have played with Il Divo, Mario Winans, La Jolla Symphony, Doctor's Symphony, Porta Caeli Chamber Players, and the quartet La Dolce.

I am a member of MTAC (Music Teacher's Association of California) and can sign my students up for Certificate of Merit. This is a music study program with an annual evaluation and written assessment. Stand-out students will be invited to play at the Branch Recital.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons differ slightly depending on the student. In general, it starts with scales for intonation or working on vibrato, moves on to an etude or exercise, and culminate

s with work on a piece of music. But not every student works well with this method, so I will add in some musical worksheets and ear training games for those that require lessons with more variety.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can come to your home to teach. I will bring all necessary method books and teaching materials.

Jessica has been working with my son for several years. She is an excellent teacher and a joy to work with. Jessica is always understanding and helpful with scheduling or technical issues. And she has helped my son expand his knowledge and appreciation for music, music theory, self discipline and perseverance. She regularly checks in with me to discuss next steps and areas of study. I consider Jessica a partner in my son's education and value the work she does.

Jessica was very patient, explaining the names & parts of the cello, how to hold the bow properly, draw the bow across the strings, and encouraged my 1st sounds. Glad I decided to jump in and try to learn something new as an adult.

My goal as a teacher is to help you reach your musical goals! My lessons consist of scales, duets, and solo repertoire. Each lesson is different depending on the student I am working with, but the core of my teach is based around these 3 areas.

About Victor

My name is Victor and I have been actively teaching cello for the past 7 years. In Ames, IA I had a studio of 8 students, all ranging from different age groups and abilities. I also have experience teaching online lessons, which require a slightly different approach than in person lessons. I recently moved to Minneapolis, MN after pursuing my Masters Degree in cello performance at The Boston Conservatory and running a successful teaching studio of 20-25 students. My goal as a teacher is to help you achieve your musical goals. I try my absolute hardest to create a warm and positive environment for all of my students. I understand that every student is different and I make sure to create individual lesson plans for each of my students. Not only will you grow as a musician and as a cellist, but I believe that learning an instrument gives us

skills that can be beneficial in every aspect of our daily lives. Whether you are new to the cello, picking it back up after some time off, or at a more advanced level, I hope to hear from you! If you have any questions at all, please send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you!

As a 40 year old beginner I was a little nervous about the whole online experience as well as starting a new instrument. Victor makes the online teaching experience seamless. Victor is calm, thoughtful and patient. He always finds a way to explain something in a way that relates to me specifically. To do this someone must be able to listen as well as teach. This is quality I have not found in all of my teachers/instructors/coaches throught the years. Victor is also easily the most flexible of any teacher I have had. He always finds a way to accommodate my schedule and works around any issues that arise. I have really enjoyed my learning experience thus far and look forward to each lesson. I would not hesitate to recommend Victor to anyone looking to learn the cello.

I was a pianist and oboist in my early life, and now in my 40s decided that I'd love to learn to play the cello. Victor is a really wonderful teacher. He's very patient, very calm, and very responsive. Whenever I would message him, he'd respond within a few hours, and often he'd respond right away. He was very flexible when schedules changed. Whenever I would run into problems or issues with a new technique, he would find resources, such as videos, to help describe it more fully. I've had many music teachers over the years and Victor is absolutely one of the best.

Private Cello Teacher

I want to work closely with students to help them develop their own unique pace, methods, and goals that work for them. We’ll work together to not just master their craft, but also find their voice and enjoyment with their instrument.

My goal is to discover what a student wants to learn and their strengths and weaknesses and then cater lessons accordingly.

About Christopher

Flexible teacher combining technical knowledge of classical, jazz, and pop/rock theory, sense of humor, and passion for helping students not just master their craft, but also find their unique voice and enjoyment with their instrument.

No single learning path works for all students, it’s about finding and reinforcing your strengths, and empowering you to solve your own problems. As my old cello teacher used to say, “I’m not teaching you how to play cello, I’m teaching you how to teach yourself how to play cello.” Providing students with the tools and guidance they need to practice and improve: that’s what I strive to do.

I have over 5 years of experience teaching lessons, including teaching seminars on songwriting and music business at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts and Jamestown Community College.

Between 2006 and 2015, I

played over 1,000 shows, both solo and as an auxiliary musician for other touring acts. I performed on over 30 albums and have composed for radio, television, and internet video series. I've been featured in The New York Times, on the CBS Evening News, and on NPR.

"I have been a student of music for many years with piano and violin. This year it was time for a change. Taking on cello with Victor has been the best exp

I would encourage anyone to take cello lessons from Victor as he teaches a unique way with every student. By the end of your first lesson you will love what you learn and practice to get better. It has been super fun and I look forward to learning more!"

"Maria has been my cello teacher for 6 years. She has made learning the cello so much fun and such a great part of me life. She is very positive and swee
t even when I mess up and she helps me feel good about my mistakes. She looks at what I do well and gets me excited about working on the songs. She always helps me stay in perfect pitch and helps me prepare for when songs get harder, by making sure I have good tequnique. She always knows what to work on to make my lesson as successful as possible. After six years of playing with her I am playing this amazing and beautiful music. The Bach Cello concertos and the other songs I play make me feel so happy relaxed and filled with joy. She loves the cello and being a musician. And every time you go to her lesson, you just feel the love she has for the instrament and the music and how she wants to share that feeling with you and help you have the same feeling. Maria is the reason I can play so well and she is also the reason I have continued to play for so long and will continue to play for the rest of my life. I am so happy that I have the most amazing, loveing and fun teacher in the world. I think everyone thinking of playing an instrament should choose cello just so they can take lessons with Maria. My lesson is the highlight of my week.

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

By Jessica Dais

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
