I have a degree in music with a teaching certificate. I have been teaching cello privately for 10 years. Depending on the age of the child we will start with either Essential Elements or Suzuki cello book one. They will start with proper positioning and plucking. Once they have 8 notes down, we start bowing. As we progress, we will be doing scales, and etudes.
About Chris
I have been teaching private violin for over 20 years, and private viola/cello for about 10. I have taught in Charles and St. Mary's County Public schools. I am a member of American Strings Teacher's Association, National Association for Music Educators (Maryland Music Educators Association), and t

I believe that every student has his/her own need because we are all unique as human beings, every one of us has their stronger and weaker skills and my job as a teacher is to find the best tool to pass to the given student.
I am strict but fun, whichever amount the student needs more.
I use the Suzuki books because the songs (and later pieces) in are very good, popular, fun, and evenly progressive.
Achievements depend also on the student and the amount of practicing done at home. I as a teacher can only do that much in passing my knowledge and spur the student own. Practicing at home is very, very important.
About Hrant
Hrant's interests range from the solo cello repertoire to chamber music, teaching, and orchestral playing. As a teacher he has been a faculty member at Yale School of Music, 92nd Y, Summertrios Music Festival, and has held master classes at Yale and the William Blount-Slawson Competition. He has re

My style of teaching is to teach each child one step at a time, through method training. Each child/Adult has their own learning curve and I adjust accordingly. Each lesson is fun and yet a learning time. I love teaching and it feeds every day. I always can see more students.
About Arlette
Arlette C. grew up and attended schools in Culver City, California. She attended Los Angeles Valley College where she received an Associate of Arts degree in Music. She then received a partial scholarship and received the Margaret Aue Award for outstanding cellist while attending California State

I have been playing viola for 17 years and teaching violin, viola, and cello for 8 years. I graduated from the University of West Florida in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance - Viola. My viola instructor was Dr. Leonid Yanovskiy, current and former concert master of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
While earning my degree, I also learned how to play violin and cello and am able to teach them up to an intermediate level.
My teaching ideology is that ANYONE can learn an instrument at any age. I have taught students as young as 4 and as old as 65! Many adult students of mine have expressed difficulty and even shame in trying to find a teacher for them who would take them on, simply because they were starting as an adult.
We don't have to train for the symphony (unless you want to!); your goals are my goals and I will help you reach them!

I’m passionate about music education and I am a full time music teacher and active performer throughout the SE Michigan area. In the summers I teach cello and music improvisation at the Cellochanwoods Cello retreat in Vermont.
Lessons are designed and catered around each student and I believe in a well rounded approach in teaching music. While everyone will learn a solid foundation of note reading and playing technique, lessons also pull from sources such as music theory, ear training, music history, etc.
I hold a Masters in Music Performance from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London and a Bachelors in Music Performance from the University of Michigan.
Whether you’re looking to learn a new hobby, or further your musical skills, I’d love to help out. All levels welcome!

I feel like my playing has progress so much further than when I was attempting to teach myself. As a shy adult beginner, Hallie's fantastic attitude makes is easier for me to learn as I don't feel as nervous as I normally would."

Cello thumb position is one of the big leaps of technique for advancing cellists and is one of the skills that sets more advanced students from the intermediate. This new technique opens up the higher ranges of the instrument and allows us to play more advanced solos and etudes. This technique is not something you should rush into though! Make sure to take things slowly at first and master the basic concepts before moving on. When Should You Focus on Your Cello Thumb Position? There have to …
