With my expansive experience as a violinist in various genres/settings and my three years of teaching experience, I provide my students with a well-rounded and unique take on learning the violin. While I often start with classical music to get the students familiar with note reading, fundamental playing techniques, and basic music theory, I do take the time to get to know the students and their musical interests - thus tailoring my curriculum and repertoire choices towards the students' interests and goals. A specialty of mine is arranging pieces and songs from various genres for the violin based on the student's preferences and level of playing.
As a board-certified music therapist with a passion for mental health and well-being, another goal of mine is helping students develop a sense of self-compassion and patience as they learn their instrument and run into many bumps and blocks throughout their musical journey. Through verbal processing and active listening, I provide my ...

Lessons are tailored to fit each individual student's ability and goals. I believe in challenging students while maintaining a supportive and encouraging environment. Lessons will cover music theory, technique, and solo pieces. The goal is to develop in each student the specific skills needed to play a string instrument as well as to nurture an understanding and love for music.
Lessons take place at my apartment in Southeast Denver, near Hampden and I-25. Students are expected to prepare for and participate annual studio recitals.
About Kostadin
I was raised in a musical family in my home country of Bulgaria, where I attended a highly competitive full-time performing arts school from age 6. I was trained in the Russian school of violin playing and have found this to be a very successful method for my younger students in the United States.

I have played violin for over 30 years and in my professional career I have been on tour in a Peruvian folk band, played electric violin in a rock band, and been in orchestras and string quartets as a classical violinist and violist for weddings and special events. My specialty is working with beginners to develop both a strong technical foundation and a love of the instrument and the diverse and surprising genres the violin offers. I love working with small children. I advise to wait until the child has developed a sense of rhythm and pitch in singing, and displays a desire to focus and practice on their own. A great indicator is if they can sit down and pay attention to a book. My youngest violin student was 3 and my oldest 64! Can't wait to work together.

Ashlyn is a very talented violin instructor! I have taken 6 months of violin lessons with her. She is very patient, willing and able to adapt her teaching methods to my learning speed and needs. She is very good at communicating whenever lessons could not take place (which was almost never) and understanding when I couldn't make any of my lessons. As a 25 year-old trying to learn the violin for the first time, she was very encouraging and helped me begin learning what has recently become my favorite instrument. After each lesson I am pumped and can't wait to learn a little more! One of the hardest things for me was being consistent with practicing at home, but Ashlyn was understanding and always pushed me to make the time to learn the notes, the rhythm, posture, etc. and to progress in each aspect of playing the violin. I would suggest anyone to choose Ashlyn as an instructor! From what I understand, she has experience teaching young children, adolescents and young adults. Her undeniable talent, patience, flexibility in teaching methods, and her charming sense of humor are all reasons why I'm eager to learn this wonderful instrument and why I'm sure anyone would feel delighted and pleased to have Ashlyn as their violin teacher! Not to mention...you actually learn to play!!!"

We have had Betsy teach our three kids for years. She is well trained, has an excellent fund of musical knowledge, and is technically superior. But best of all she tailors her teaching based on each child's skills, interest, and energy. She keeps the kids engaged, even with their different skill sets and learning capabilities. We have had several tutors in the past, and the kids can play piano, cello, and violin. But out of all the music teachers, Betsy's ability to keep each child involved and interested has kept them playing violin even though its not the instrument they play at school.
I can't give a higher recommendation than I can give for Betsy."
