I studied music theory at the Rhode Island School of Modern Music, at the Mannes Conservatory of Music in Manhattan, and at the Reuben Conservatory, in Jerusalem, Israel.
My background in theory is primarily in jazz, which uses some slightly different terminology than classical theory, but mostly applies to all styles, especially as pertains to beginning theory.

About Linda
*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec
tronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.
Banjo: I teach bluegrass, country, and some blues and rock music. I can also teach a bit of old-timey frailing/clawhammer style.

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

Michelle is great! She is very professional and patient, but a couple things that truly make her stand out.

One, she is always willing to record an accompaniment for the song of your choice so that you can easily work on your own. Sometimes she even does a couple versions. Better still, when I was really struggling she tailor made exercises for me so that I could improve.

Two, she explains things very well. For example, I struggled with visualizing how the physical parts of my voice interact with each other and what physically happens when I sing. Her explanation combined with the diagrams from her singing books allowed me to finally make the connection.

You can’t go wrong with Michelle!

Multiple theory classes ranging from the baroque period until the 21st century with Atonal music.

About Christopher
Hello! Hola! Benvenuto! My name is Christopher S. and I am a classical guitarist, composer, polyglot, and experienced language and music teacher.

I am a recent graduate with a Masters of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. There I studied with the world-renowned guitarist Eliot Fisk who is a direct student of the legendary guitarist Andres Segovia.

Currently I work part time teaching 12 students guitar at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia. I also I teach ukulele, Spanish, Italian, and English to a variety of students online. At the same time I am pursuing a Doctoral degree from the university to strengthen my skills as a guitarist and expand my knowledge as a teacher for higher education. I have also just completed my debut album titled, "Anima - The Music of Spain and Italy for the Gu
itar."

This album is a tribute and memorial to an amazing journey I had traveling and living in Europe for 3 years.

After I graduated from my undergraduate degree, I realized that in order to better my skills as a musician and become the guitar teacher I wanted to be I had to travel abroad. I moved to Seville, Spain where for three years I studied the art of classical and flamenco guitar.

I studied with a international known Spanish guitarist named Francisco Bernier at the Conservatory in Seville. During this time I was also teaching English as a second language to high school and middle school students. From traveling and spending so much time in Europe, I also developed and studied my love of languages and I became fluent in Spanish and Italian.

The experienced was an experience of a lifetime and I made many friends working and living abroad that to this day, I still keep in contact with.

If you are interested in having lessons with me, please contact me and we can begin learning the art of making beautiful music or learning the beautiful languages of the Mediterranean! "Hasta pronto!" "A presto!" and "Speak to you soon!"

Test prep, composition, improvisation...

About Kevin
School is important, but MUSIC is importanter. Learning to practice and love it is one of the most useful skills anybody can ask for in any field. I wholeheartedly believe that anyone that puts in honest practice and exploration will find a way around an instrument. For the last 20 years I have been teaching privately, in the public, private and charter schools, and have been writing and playing professionally. Some of my best students have pursued music as a career and some are engineers or housewives or something else, but playing music is something they all hold close to their hearts.

I had the pleasure of being Mr. Muncy's student during my high school years. I started as a beginner in my sophomore year having never taken a music lesson. I took this course simply to fulfill an arts requirement, but his infectious passion for music and teaching inspired in me a deeper interest in the subject. His patience, unique teaching style, and ability to communicate complicated musical concepts equipped me with the capability to pursue music more seriously. After graduating from his music program, I joined the symphony band at my university, held various steady professional gigs and formed my own groups for performing at charity events. Three years of lessons with Mr. Muncy, and some dedication on my end, allowed me to surpass my own expectations in music. I continue to play while pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant and feel privileged to have Mr. Muncy as a mentor. His lessons not only allowed me to pursue my passion for music, but have taught me life skills that have also molded me as a clinician. If you are looking to take music lessons, I highly recommend Mr. Kevin Muncy.

Kevin was an excellent teacher when I had him many moons ago - I can only imagine that he has improved since then. I was a beginner, learning the bass. That isn't Kevin's primary instrument, but he was knowledgeable enough to help me lay much of the foundation for the all that I know in bass playing today. He helped inform my music history knowledge, appreciation and pointed me to some great artists, books (esp. Free Play), and people to learn from. Perhaps more importantly, he really helped stimulate my growth and development within music and within life itself. I credit a good part of who I am and my success today to the tutelage and teaching of Kevin.

Hi! I’m Stephanie. I’m a NYC-based classical composer of chamber and orchestra music, and I teach private theory and composition lessons. I'm charismatic, engaging, and inspire my students to high standards of achievement. I've been teaching privately for five years and in that time I've brought theory and composition programs to festivals and music schools in three countries. Since 2012 I've helped over 100 composers between the ages of 10 and 33 write their first pieces, helped just as many young people become proficient in the world of music theory, and

About Stephanie
Hello! I am a New York City-based composer who endeavors to write music that brings whimsical worlds to life, that is meaningful to audience and performer alike, and that refreshes and strengthens the creative spirit. I've used my knowledge of theory and music analysis to create a world-wide career as a composer! My violin sonata Amerigo has been performed in nearly all 50 states as part of my 50 State Sonata Project, and my melodic music has been praised as “arrestingly poetic” (BMOP) and “wide ranging, imaginative” (Portland Press Herald).

My 2016/2017 concert season included the premieres of my cello concerto Tekton, my bassoon concerto Rituum, commissions by New York City’s Moirae Ensemble, members of the Reno Philharmonic, Mars Hill University’s Alan Theisen, Beijing’s Sun He, Kingma System flutist Rachel Hacker, and a co-commiss
ion involving violinists from 35 countries. I am the 2017-2019 Composer in Residence for the Eureka Ensemble in Boston.

A two-time winner of the Chicago College of Performing Arts Vector Project, my orchestral music has been performed by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the Eureka Ensemble, the JVL Festival Orchestra in Ontario, the Cremona Academy Festival Orchestra in Italy, the Chicago College of Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra, the Grammy-winning Pioneer Symphony Orchestra in Ann Arbor, and the New England Conservatory Orchestra in Boston. My string orchestra works are published by TRN Music and my chamber and orchestral music is published by Femoire. I am a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago and the New England Conservatory in Boston.

I am a frequent lecturer at universities and high schools, often speaking on the subjects of creativity, entrepreneurship, and how to create a career after music school. An advocate of the innate creativity in young people, I have brought composition and theory programs to schools and music festivals in three countries. I have helped my students get into music composition programs at great universities and conservatories, and I maintain a studio of international composition and theory students. When not composing, I secretly enjoys screaming trumpet music, openly enjoy John William Waterhouse paintings, and will never pass up an iced coffee.
