Terrible. Only taught 30 minutes out of 60 minute sessions. On the 3 session I mentioned it and he said he didn’t think my son needed more than that even though we paid for it. Was so disrespectful!!!! Never again!!! Highly unprofessional when asked about why he cut the lessons short. Please don’t leave your kids with this instructor work paying attention. He will get over on you if he thinks you’re not involved.

Alethia is great. She is working with my 7 yr. old daughter as a beginner in violin. She teaches in a way that is fun, appropriate, and respectful. My daughter has already learned so much and looks forward to her lessons with Alethia each week.

Alethia is very knowledgeable about technique and skilled at teaching.

Alethia is a very talented teacher and violinist. She is extremely professional, attentive and accommodating to her students needs/goals. As an older student with no musical background, she has made the violin less intimidating and more accessible by breaking it down and making it less complex and easier to understand. While, I've only been with her a few years, I'm very proud of the progress I've made with her. If you are interested in taking up the violin, I highly recommend her.

"I had my first violin lesson on Sunday with Tarcisio. He is an excellent violin teacher and I highly recommend him. He has a very mild manner and style of teaching which put me at ease and provided a level of comfort in feeling somewhat relaxed and free to play and learn from mistakes, unlike my other teachers who were much more critical. Tarcisio was totally focused on my playing. Within the first 10 minutes of my lesson, I played the first movement of Vivaldi's Concerto in A Minor. Although he said I played very well, I think he was being nice for the first lesson. He then highlighted a few specific technical challenges and how I could overcome them. I especially enjoyed the way he explained, demonstrated and then allowed me to practice techniques to improve my playing. He taught me 3 new things that I never known before, making the lesson very valuable. I also REALLY like Tarcisio's method of teaching. Unlike a lot of academic conservatory teachers, he focuses on the music you are motivated to play and then provides instruction on the style and technical methods of playing a specific musical piece. He provided me with a detailed written homework assignment that was very prescriptive to what I need in order to improve my playing the Vivaldi Concerto in A Minor. His emphasis is not on endless hours of practicing scales, exercises and etudes from the books, he provides tailored assignments to improve style and technique to master playing a real piece of music of MY choice! I've never had this before in a teacher and really appreciate it. I was impressed with Tarcisio after my first lesson and certainly will continue working with him weekly. We have scheduled a specific hour every week for my lessons future lessons. This keeps me motivated to practice regularly with mindful focus and attention to progress quickly. Although everyone is different in who and what they prefer in a teacher, I specifically prefer Tarcisio's coaching style of teaching rather than the more authoritative style of most teachers I've had in the past. Based upon his professional level and skill in playing, I believe the lessons are well worth $65 for 60 minutes as well."

What is Rosin, and How Do I Use It?

Particularly if you've just purchased a new violin bow, it's important to learn how to apply rosin properly before you begin playing your violin.  The rosin makes the hairs on the bow "sticky," allowing them to grip the string and produce a good tone. First, when applying the rosin, ma …
