Experienced teacher of 5 years, I have taught strings in the schools as well as in my private studio. I specialize in working with beginners and intermediate students grades 5-12, but adults are welcome too! We use a body-oriented approach to help students play the violin with ease and clarity. This approach includes a mix of Alexander Technique, body mapping, Suzuki pedagogy, Karen Tuttle Coordination, and my somatic movement education curriculum. However, we also equally rely on ear training. Whether you're reading notes for the first time or playing by ear, we do ear training. Through this method, you become more comfortable playing the violin, and with dedication, you learn how to become your own teacher. Ready to get started?

I am an experienced violinist and violist and music educator, who loves working with adult beginners. I have been teaching for over 20 years, and performing professionally for over 30 years. Are you an adult who has always wanted to play the violin but was never able to? Were you told you were too old or that it was too late? Maybe you want to revisit the instrument you gave up as a youngster. I can help you get back on track. I can give you the skills and confidence you will need to accomplish your goals. I am also gifted in strengthening the skills of those who have already had some experience playing violin and/or viola, but would like to improve, no matter your age. I can help young students prepare for all state and all county competitions. My lessons are laid back, personable, and enjoyable.

If I were to say 15 years on the violin, that would be a shocking time. I did earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Music where I received most of my education in both violin and piano. In my perspective, the violin is such an intricate instrument and I am blessed to work with students in wanting to learn violin. It’s true where putting the hard work in violin takes you where you need to be. It does require Practice! I am willing to work with the student and help them grow in advancing this instrument. I have played the violin since 7th grade- about 9 years ago. The violin is a very soothing and elegant instrument that can make beautiful sounds and can also wake up someone’s attention. I have played in FiestaVal in Tennessee and I did orchestra for two years in middle school. Currently going to college for vocal performance and orchestral performance. I would like to teach those who are interested all that I know about this great instrument, whether it be a beginner, or a returning violin student.
