Praised for her "rich dramatics" (The Boston Globe), soprano Pamela S. has earned a reputation for bringing passion, intelligence and style to every performance. Through an international singing career that has included everything from Baroque opera to working with some of some of today's most prominent composers, Pamela has performed with Yamaha Young Concert Artist Series, the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme at Aldeburgh Music Festival, Operafestival di Roma, Yale School of Music's New Music, New Haven, Helix New Music Ensemble at Le Poisson Rouge, the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, Left Bank Concert Society, Beth Morrison Projects, Opera at Florham, American Opera Projects, and many others. In recent years, she appeared on a PBS documentary singing the music of Pulitzer Prize winning composer David Lang, and created the role of
Julia Dehning in the world premier of the opera The Making of Americans at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. She received her Master's degree in vocal performance from The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University, where, upon graduation, she was awarded The Phyllis Bryn-Julson Prize for Commitment to and Performance of 20th and 21st Century Music.
Ms. S. currently serves on the Board of Directors of MATA, an organization dedicated to supporting young composers from around the world. She is also co-founder, along with award winning superstar composers Lisa Bielawa and Aaron Jay Kernis, of Your Music Bus, and is the founder and director of Stone Mason Projects, a boutique production company specializing in endeavors related to new music for voice. She is in high demand as a voice teacher for competitive students and professional singers, and lectures on the social significance of music history topics related to contemporary repertoire.
Pamela has been teaching music and voice for more than ten years. Currently, she teaches voice and music theory at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts Extension Division for their Young Artist Program, and is on the voice faculty of the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ. Prior to these positions, she was an adjunct lecturer at City College of New York, CUNY where she taught music theory, musicianship, and composition. Additionally, she spent two years as the chair of the voice department at The College of Saint Elizabeth, where she has taught private vocal instruction, as well as lecture courses in music history, music theory, vocal pedagogy, and ear training.
Pamela's students have performed with Paper Mill Playhouse, Continuo Arts Foundation, Assisi Performing Arts Festival in Italy, Carnegie Hall, Opera at Florham, the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, In Mid Air Productions, and many other companies around the East Coast and abroad. Her students have placed in vocal competitions including Mid Atlantic Music Festival, Golden Key, National League of Performing Arts festival, and many others. In addition to her work as a teacher of music, Pamela has worked as a Teacher's Assistant at Columbia University's Department of Astronomy, for the class Theories of the Universe: From Babylon to the Big Bang.
Pamela also maintains a private studio of voice students, and is available to give lessons from her home in Newtown, PA. In the past, Pamela worked for Rider University as a private tutor for students in music theory, music history, and French. Pamela was active in the vocal pedagogy program at The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University through which she taught voice lessons while earning her master's degree in vocal performance. Pamela has held substitute positions teaching voice and piano at Spotlight Music in Flemington, New Jersey and was on the roster of teachers at Bravissimo Music, a branch of Ivy Bound Test Prep.

I have had a vocal coach before meeting Pam, but she absolutely took it to another level. Pamela does a good job with teaching the mechanics of singing, as she pin points which muscles the body is using and how to use them properly when singing. She has a variety of warm ups and stretches to get your voice and body prepared to perform and is very good and pushing you to become your best. If you are a serious singer and would like to take the knowledge of your craft a step further, I would definitely recommend.

My name is John. I am a graduate of Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA where I received a Bachelors of Music Performance on the guitar. I have moved back to South Jersey, and am looking for students. My areas of expertise lie in metal/rock/progressive playing, songwriting and arranging. I also feel at home in the classical realm as far as orchestration and arranging go. I can teach various techniques on the guitar (including the fore mentioned styles) along with funk, blues, jazz, alternate picking, sweep picking, legato playing, hybrid picking, harmonizing, chord melody, odd meter, theory, and ear training as well as all things beginner. I am also proficient as a vocalist, drummer/percussionist, bassist, and can find my way around a piano.
*** Lesson Details *** The lesson is what you make of it. Every student (and every teache
r) is different. I can be very easy-going and laid back, or I can be extremely stern and strict. It all depends on the personality of the student, how seriously he/she takes music, and how much/how fast he/she is willing to learn. Some students prefer to take things slow and let material sink in (which I recommend), while others like to go through material fast and "jump around". The choice is yours, and I will do my best to adapt. I do, however believe one should never move forward until a strong foundation is built upon the current topic of education. First you crawl, then walk, then jog, THEN run. i will use Musicians Institute curriculum as reference material along with any other books I have which pertain to the knowledge you seek.

John is the most patient teacher I have ever had. He gave me praise for the smallest accomplishments I made. He is extremely knowledgeable in guitar and I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons. I would highly recommend him as a teacher.
I have been singing for as long as I can remember. It is my very favorite activity. I have transformed my love of singing into a career.
I have been teaching music lessons for over 25 years. When you study with me you will have the advantage of that experience. I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages. Throughout my teaching career I have taught students with varied backgrounds and diverse needs. If you are a person who was told not to sing by your music teacher, don't give up! I have taught many children and adults to match pitches and improve their singing voices.
I earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Moravian College and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Temple University. While at Temple, I studied standard vocal repertoire and Early Music. I have also completed graduate course
s in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at West Chester University.
I served on the faculty of Suburban Music School for 17 years where I taught voice, piano and recorder lessons. I also directed the Children’s Choir and the Women’s Choir. I was formerly on the faculty of Delaware County Community College where I taught courses in the Music Department; and of Temple Music Prep where I instituted, developed and maintained a vocal program at Temple University’s Ambler Campus.
In addition to teaching I was employed for eleven years as a chorister at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Greenville, DE where I have had the opportunity to sing for such notable conductors as John Rutter, Sir David Wilcox, Sir Philip Ledger, Stephen Cleobury, and James O’Donnell. Previous choral work has included singing for Dr. Ifor Jones and for Michael Korn. I perform in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the Philadelphia area and in Cape May, NJ and with a Celtic group called Celtic Women and Friends.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice Lessons
When you study voice with me, you will start with the basics - posture, breathing and tone production. If you have studied before, we will review these areas and brush up on anything that needs work. The next step is to learn some vocal exercises to warm up and develop your voice. When the exercises are going well, we will begin to work on songs. You will need to learn some classical songs because they help to develop your voice, but we will also work on the kind of music you like best. In addition to songs, we will work on solfege (do, re, mi, etc.) which helps to train your ear and to improve your sightreading ability. If you don't know how to read music I will teach you that. If you read music but have some gaps in your knowledge, we will fill those in.
I teach what is called bel canto (beautiful singing). It is a healthy vocal technique that will help you avoid vocal problems. When you learn to sing with this technique, you can sing any style of music you want. After a few months of study, you should be able to tell that your voice is growing stronger, that you have better breath control, and that your range is increasing.
Although I have high expectations of my students, I am relaxed and friendly. If you love to laugh, we will enjoy that together!
When you study piano with me you will enjoy playing a variety of songs from your lesson book. As you advance, we may add a repertoire book which increases the number and variety of songs you play. There are many excellent piano methods. I use different methods for different students, depending on their needs.
Lessons will include posture and proper hand position, warm-ups, songs and music theory. Music theory is the study of notation and how music is put together. You will have a workbook with exercises for this study. If there is a particular style of music you would like to play, we will look for music at your level to add to your lesson. After a few months of study, you should know how to read basic notation and be able to play a number of songs. You will also have increased your knowledge of musical notation and harmony.
I expect my students to practice in preparation for their lesson every week. I am relaxed and friendly, so that should help to put you at your ease.

My granddaughter Kayla really enjoyed her first singing lesson. She was a bit nervous at first, but Barbara made her feel relaxed. Kayla felt that Barbara was patient with her and answered her many questions. Kayla is looking forward to next week and thing she can learn to help her sing better.

Sandra began her training at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia. She is a two time recipient of the Mario Lanza Award, and holds a B.M. degree in opera from the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. She studied acting at both the Wilma and Walnut Theaters in Philadelphia. In New York, she studied Shakespeare at the HB Studios, and received on-camera training at the Weisst- Barron Commercial School. Sandra is a member of Actor's Equity.
Sandra was engaged for seven years at Theater des Westens in Berlin, Germany, where she performed extensively in Musicals and Operetta. She also toured throughout Germany with the ensemble "Operetten Express". In the U.S., Sandra has toured nationally with "Man of La Mancha" and "Carousel", and has performed leading roles in many regional theaters. She also performed in the Off-Broadway
Musical "Mamaleh". Sandra has performed in over fifty productions of Musicals, Operetta, and Opera. Some of her favorite roles include: Aldonza (Man of La Mancha), Desiree (A Little Night Music), Marguerite (The Scarlet Pimpernel), Antonia (The Tales of Hoffmann), and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi).
Most recently, she has performed the role of Lynn Fontanne in Ten Chimneys at Old Academy Players, and played one of the principal roles in Jacque Brel Is Alive And Well and Living In Paris at The Steel River Playhouse.
As a director, Sandra has staged operas for Center City Opera Theater, the Delaware Valley Opera Company, Boheme Opera New Jersey, and the New York Metro Vocal Arts Ensemble. She is currently singing concerts with the vocal group "Touch of Classics", and can be seen in commercials for Time Warner, Cuisinart, The Skooter Store, and Aspercreme.

We will work on giving you a solid vocal technique so that you can approach any style of music with a good foundation. We will also work on learning to read music, and most importantly work on songs that will bring out the actor in you.

Sandra is a very positive and enthusiastic teacher. She makes sure you are following proper technique and is thorough in telling you which steps to follow. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to try singing lessons or who wishes to improve their technique.
This is a group class for two or more students interested in learning to perform in a band setting. After the group has prepared three or more songs, they are ready to perform at our studios monthly showcase!
Andrew is available to teach lessons at "Light and Sound Studio". This is an acoustically treated/creative environment with 2 full drum kits, and the latest studio technology. (see pictures below)
Andrew is a graduate of Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music in Hollywood, California with a degree in drum/percussion performance.
Andrew spends his time teaching drums, recording drums and playing drums for local artists/bands. I worked with Andrew for over 2 years learning the drums. Fabulous teacher! Andrew taught me technique, timing, different genres of drumming but most importantly inspired me to keep stretching in my playing. His love of music shines through his teaching.
My approach to teaching has a very heavy emphasis on implementing the idea of mindfulness into the students life. I have found that this is not only the quickest way to learn, but also the most motivating way to learn any skill for both my students and myself. A simple awareness of the finite details that go into a craft, while at the same time acting upon them in way that is loose and detached has helped me learn an array of new skills and has profoundly changed my life as well as others for the better.
Very knowledgeable. I liked being educated or informed about the process of my son's lesson before and after.

After 30 years I finally decided to learn how to play drums. Kevin clearly knows what he's doing in any genre of drumming! It seemed like every lesson he had a clear/thorough plan, didn't stress me out by teaching to rapidly, or bore me by going to slowly. A very solid teacher.

Rachel S. is a Lyric Soprano that hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In July, she portrayed the role of Mother in Humperdink’s Hansel and Gretel with the Miami Opera Institute. This fall, she recently worked as a Resident Artist with Utah Opera.
Last spring, she completed her Master’s of Music at Rice University, under the instruction of acclaimed voice teacher, Dr. Stephen King. There, she performed the role of Lady Billows in their 2014 production of Britten’s Albert Herring. Rachel made her operatic debut with Rice University in their fall of 2012 production of Volpone as Celia. With Rice University, she was also featured in their scenes programs as Mimi from La Bohème, Ilia from Idomeneo, Rosalba from Florencia en el Amazonas, and Mrs. Fiorentino from Street Scene.
Rachel has performed extensively with the Aspen Opera Theat
er Center. Last summer, she understudied Sybil Vane in Loehmann’s The Picture of Dorian Grey. In 2013, she performed the role of Suor Osmina in their production of Suor Angelica, and covered the roles of Fortuna and Venere in their production of L’coronazione di Poppea. She also portrayed Pamina, La Contessa, Ilia, Anne Truelove and Laurie Moss in their various scenes programs.
Rachel completed her Bachelor’s of Music at Mannes College in 2012. There, she performed in their Opera Scenes Workshop and their Rise of Modernism Festival, singing Canciones populares Españolas by Manuel de Falla.
She is an amazing instructor and I have already seen my improvement after the first lesson.
