My 9 yr old daughter began cello lessons with Quinn about 2 weeks before lockdown started. I was worried that online lessons wouldn't work out, but Quinn has been amazing. She's great at explaining everything so that my daughter understands, and she pushes just enough to keep her interested without being overwhelmed. She also answers questions promptly by email when any problems arise. I can't recommend her highly enough!

"I've had other instrumental teachers before (piano, trombone, cello, and voice (voice is another story)) and Michael is probably the best instructor I've ever had. Even when I don't have the time or ability to practice as much as I should he just encourages and makes me feel good about the work I did do. He explains things very clearly, really knows what he's talking about (which for the cello is really important and not as common as you'd think), and just makes our lessons enjoyable. I'm only a beginner but I already have so much more confidence in what I understand about the instrument in my hands. It's kind of awesome."

"Anna is a wonderful teacher. She allows me as a parent (and encourages) to attend lessons so i can be her proxy during the week to reinforce lessons taught; this helps with continuous week to week progress. She demands a lot of my child in terms of warm-ups drills, site reading, rhythm, intonation, and sound. She is rigorous in terms of proper technique, training, and demands playing "beautifully" (with emotion). When things get too tough she takes a step back and gets back to the basics, focusing on advancing through a piece note by note, measure by measure. The end result is fantastic and often get featured in concert performances several times a year. My child has grown tremendously since starting with Ms. Anna; he had a previous teacher and picked up a lot of bad habits that we had to engineer out. He now is playing at a high level as a 10 year old having been with Ms. Anna for ~2 years. He has grown through each piece, taking his time. There is no pressure to move onto new pieces until each piece has been mastered. His maturity, self-confidence and work ethic have all grown because of cello. It has been a tremendous pleasure to learn from Ms. Anna, not to mention see her perform in the San Diego symphony. She is a true professional who understands how to work with kids but also pull the best out of them!"
