I began playing the violin at the age of 5 and have participated in the Strings International Music Festival as well as the Eastern U.S. Music Camp. Through high school I was a member of the Delaware County Youth Orchestra and took part in district and regional festivals. At Temple University I studied with Helen Kwalwasser and played in the Temple Symphony Orchestra. I have also recorded non-classically on albums with music groups such as Port Arthur, Chet Williams, and Benjamin Poole.

About Elisabeth
Hi! I am a graduate of Temple University's Boyer College of Music, where I earned a degree in Music Theory. Violin and tuba are my primary instruments. I originally began my studies at Boyer in the Music Education department, and through my time there I have a lot of experience teaching music, especially to kids. I have taught high school marching bands for the past five years, most recently as hornline tech for Ridley High School's marching band in the 2017 season.

I marched contra (tuba) in the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps from 2011-2013. During my time at Temple I participated in the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Diamond Marching Band, Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, and multiple chamber groups. Musical groups with which I am currently involved include Port Arthur, Iris Freeheart, and Polkadelphia, and I have recorded as a studio musi
cian for The Dull Blue Lights (formerly The Snails), No Thank You, Thin Lips, Chet Williams, and others.

I have also been studying German since a very young age and studied abroad in Germany in college. I earned a minor in German and am a member of the national German honor society, Delta Phi Alpha.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Outstanding instructor, professionally gifted, helpful, patient and personable. I was fortunate to have found Elisabeth to teach my 9 year old son how to play the violin. Her teaching style was a perfect match for him and she was able to keep him motivated to play and improve and also achieve his goal of making the junior orchestra for his school.

Students can except immediate improvement within a matter of weeks, especially in the following areas: technique and posture, musicality, breadth of repertoire, confidence in performing, and general interest in your instrument. Many of my current and past students have acquired an insatiable urge to practice at every waking hour, and a mutual feeling of "I can't wait for our lesson!" quickly develops.

About Richard
Hello! My name is Richard, and I'm so glad you stumbled upon my profile. I've been playing piano since I was 6 years old and violin since I was 11, and I've been teaching for about 3 years to date. I'm a young teacher, which means a couple things: 1) I'm very relatable to my students 2) I keep things interesting and enjoyable and --(this one's for the parents) 3) my price is one of the cheapest out there. Albeit young, I've accrued many accolades that should assure you that you're in good hands: National Orchestra Award, two-time All State Orchestra member, WVIA Artist of the Year Finalist, and much more. My mission is founded on the basis of altruism. As a student at the University of Pennsylvania, I'm exposed to many outlets of community service. I'm currently a member of the Penn Music Mentorship Program, Play on Philly, and the Penn C
hamber Orchestra Society. Thus, I'm here to inspire and enhance your lives with music. Together, we can explore this wondrous universe that is music.

I believe that anyone has an innate musical ability. I have over 10 years of teaching experience and the most valuable lesson I have learned is adaptability. Lessons cannot be given in a cookie cutter form, they must be shaped to fit the individual.

About Dakota
I have been playing the violin for 24 years and have been teaching for 12. I received my Bachelor's at Mason Gross School of the Arts and am beginning my Master's in the fall. I am happy to work with students of all ages and levels. I find teaching to be an extremely rewarding experience and hope to extend my love and appreciation for music to my students. I believe that music should be accessible to all people and that everyone has an innate musical ability. My goal is to spread music to as many people as possible whether it be through performing or teaching. Although I use mostly the same books for my lessons, I adapt my teaching style to fit the student. Beginning by cultivating the students’ love and patience for music practice, we work on the foundation that will develop a strong technique. A well-developed technique allows a player
to communicate the emotion that they desire through his or her instrument. Together, we learn the skill of efficiency and develop the tools needed for self-practice.

The Violin Studio of Andrea Levine offers violin lessons for children, teens and adults, from beginners to advanced players. Lessons are conducted one-on-one in my private studio in the Spring Arts District of Philadelphia. I teach traditional, classical violin playing, and students can expect to gain not only a comprehensive understanding of violin technique, but also a thorough grasp of note-reading, musicality, tone production, rhythm, ear-training, theory and practice/learning techniques.

About Andrea
Music and the violin have always resonated strongly with me. After winning various competitions in my childhood years and traveling to China to perform as a teen, nothing seemed more natural than making a lifelong commitment to the violin. I moved to the culturally and musically-rich city of Boston, MA, to study violin performance for my undergraduate degree, and then I went on to complete a master’s degree with honors in Pittsburgh PA.

With 7 years of higher-education training, musical experiences, and the cultural influence of living in two big cities under my belt, I was ready to dive headfirst into a full-time professional career in music performance. Philadelphia, PA was the next stop for me and it didn’t take long to call this beautiful city home. Soon I was on stage—and under the stage in many cases!—with many of Philadelphia’s to
p professional orchestras and performing consistently with pop music artists like Josh Groban.

I have had the honor of working in varied professional settings and with inspiring musical colleagues around the world. These experiences have helped to transform me into a well-rounded musician who thrives on stage, in the pit, and behind a camera, who puts just as much passion into teaching Vivaldi to my students as into performing ACDC’s Back in Black to cheering crowds.

Along with performing and teaching, I also own an award-winning live musical entertainment company called Miss Musique, which provides live music for weddings, parties and other special events. And in my free time I enjoy doing yoga, checking out Philadelphia’s newest restaurants, and playing with my cat Mittens.

I strive to craft lessons which will give my students a wide base of skills on the violin, although we will be foremost concerned with having excellent technique and a great sound. Beyond that, I can teach you note reading, theory, composition/arranging, and improvisation. If you are interested in learning something other than classical violin, I also have extensive experience in bluegrass, old-time, and jazz fiddle, and can help you develop a unique voice on your instrument. Shoot me a message today to see if we'd be a good fit!

About Kyle
I am a professional violinist, violist, guitarist, pianist, and educator. In addition to recording and touring with my own bands, I regularly arrange and record strings for artists and producers in a wide range of styles, from underground rappers to indie rock bands to grammy winning pop producers. I studied classical viola and composition at Temple University's Boyer School of Music, and have also studied at the Montreal Conservatory and IRCAM in Paris. I currently teach about 35 students a week ranging in ability from beginner to advanced, and ranging in age from 4 to 64. My versatility, experience, and formal training ensure a fun and engaging learning experience, catered towards what YOU want to learn (with some suggestion/encouragement from me of course).

I've studied classical viola for 13 years, with some training in bluegrass
and old-time too. I've also received training in jazz and rock guitar, and have been trained in the Taubman Method on piano, allowing me to teach my students to play with confidence and ease, without fear of injury later on.

Students can expect to receive top notch training in technique and theory. All students will also receive training in improvisation in a variety of styles, so that they can not only play and understand other people's music, but create their own too. Students interesting in writing/recording will also have the opportunity to write and record a song with me, and learn all my best tips and tricks along the way!

Some styles I regularly give lessons in: Rock, Classical, Jazz, Pop, Bluegrass, Folk, Country, Punk, Indie Rock, and Blues.
