About Judy
I started taking music lessons at the age of 9. It began playing in the church and then I taught lessons in my home at the age of 16. I went on to attend and graduate from Christian Heritage College (now called San Diego Christian College) with a Bachelors Degree in Music and Business. I am now the Director of the Music Department at San Diego Young Artists Music Academy. I direct two youth and children choirs, a male chorus and a great adult choir. I also sing with the Voices of Prayze who travel with Jason Mraz from time to time. As a singer, pianist and as a teacher, I specialize in Gospel piano & vocal technique and repertoire. One of the hallmarks of a good teacher is his/her ability to make students feel confident that they can learn. Judy did that for me today—in my very first lesson. I’m looking forward to this new journey. Thank you, Judy!

Very lucky and blessed to have found Judy. She's a gem for students hungry to learn Black gospel piano. Had 1st lesson today. Assessed my playing and sight reading ability, and we went straight to business on learning chord / music theory, and my strong desire to play church piano. She also showed me how to "gospelize" a few songs, for starting out. Not only did I feel comfortable and @ ease with her, but she teaches music theory in layman terms. Looking forward to more future lessons with Judy! Go to her if you truly want to learn gospel piano!

Music is a universal language with many complex parts. Knowing how to read music is an important skill as well as knowing chords and how music is put together properly. If you want to learn to read basic music, write music or you are already a pro, it is important to have ear training and musical knowledge to really get your message across.

About Laurelanne
I graduated from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA with a BA in Music Education, voice principal. During my years in public schools I taught a variety of age ranges and subjects including kindergarten general music, beginning band, high school chorus, and remedial middle school English and language arts. I have professional Yoga training and enjoy incorporating aspects of that when tutoring adult, middle school, high school, and elementary students. I also uses Yoga, brain respiration and other healing techniques in my lessons as needed.

I was a member of The William Baker Festival Singers and Summer Singers since 2003 before becoming Media Relation Coordinator in 2006 and Assistant to the Music Director in 2008 and left the group in July of 2009 to pursue other musical ventures.

Every student has a potential
for greatness no matter what their strengths and weaknesses are. No matter your age or ability level I will help you set your goals and reach them. All students should want to learn. I expect my students to be prepared and have an open mind. Learning to sing is a process. I focus on building technique and a strong musical foundation and customize my lessons for every student and individual needs. I use breathing techniques and exercises that are challenging and work toward quick and accurate results. I implement a variety of exercises to improve pitch, intonation, placement, strength, and endurance. My main goal in teaching is to encourage each student to get to know their vocal strengths and weaknesses while using all their skills to their advantage producing their best sound consistently.

We all grow and learn together and improve every time we try. I expect my students to do the best they can, practice regularly, be on time and have patience. I am excited about music and know it is also important to have fun and enjoy the process. So lets make some goals and get started!

Laurelanne is one of the best vocalists, coaches and teachers I've ever met. Not only is she encouraging, personal and educational, she's challenging, engaging and patient. I have been taking lessons for a couple of months and I've already seen leaps in my extending of range and fixing my pitch. She knows exactly what she's doing as a teacher and coach and she'll bring your confidence out. I honestly can't say enough great things about her and her way of getting her students farther than they thought they could go. You're the best, Laurelanne and I plan on being one of your long time students!

Her relaxed style is welcomed and her wide range of technique and expertise is appreciated. She motivates me to continue on my path to not just ding, but be a singer. Through a combination of actual musical examples and a carefully structured system I will teach you everything it takes to fully understand the fretboard. If you don't apply what you learn it's useless!

About Don
The focus here at my guitar school is on teaching you to play guitar through the music you enjoy listening to. If you enjoy what you are playing then you will be inspired. If you are inspired you will practice and if you practice you WILL get results!

There are plenty of other guitar teachers out there so why would you want to learn from me? The simplest reason I can give is because I really care. I will do whatever it takes to insure you fully understand and can play everything I teach you. I'll be there with you every step of the way!

~ We use a structured guitar method focused on taking you from the very beginning stages of learning to play guitar onwards to whatever skill level you desire to reach

~ You'll learn to play guitar by picking songs that YOU want to learn whether that be songs by Taylor Swift, Beatles, Green Day, M
etallica, Zeppelin etc...

~ We'll jam on these songs along with full band backing tracks. You'll be the guitar player in the band! Next, we'll record your performances and create cool videos with them.

~I'm there for you whenever you need help! Just go to your student classroom, view any of the video lessons and if you still have questions go to the chat room and ask away. I'm here to help!

From the moment I had my phone interview with Paul, I knew he was the right instructor for my son. We met for a trial lesson and sure enough he was exactly what we were looking for. My 12 yr. old has just excelerated in his music reading skills that I could not teach him on my own having started him on the keyboard myself since he was seven but was not successful. Paul is not afraid to stretch him and communicate to him in a way that he pleasantly receives along with weaving music history teaching continuously throughout the lesson. Right out of the gate his technique was addressed and the foundation was set up front and my son has an obvious, beautiful, step above, touch. Very grateful!

Music Theory, is the building blocks of understanding music. Depending on where the student is at with their understanding of the subject, I will focus on different aspects of the subject. Beginners will be taught how to read music, with skills such as note recognition. Intermediate students will start looking at chords, and analyzing the melodies and harmonies of music. Advanced students will be focusing on higher level analysis of chordal structures as well as composing. All students will be required to bring staff paper, and a pencil to lessons. Homework will be given, but it will not be an overwhelming amount at any time. The goal is to get my students to understand, and become comfortable with music theory, to optimize their musical experience regardless of their instrument, or composing styles.

About Eric
Hi! I'm Eric, a Saxophonist, Composer, Singer, and Teacher that was born and raised in Southern California. I've been playing the saxophone for over ten years now, writing music for as long as I can remember, and singing since I was in elementary school. I play for a variety of groups in Los Angeles, and sometimes perform in L.A. and surrounding areas at venues such as the LightHouse, Saint Rocke, Avalon, The Mint, and the Baked Potato.

I keep my lessons fun, efficient, and applicable. I give students assignments to work on, not only so they don't forget what we talk about, but also so they can also expand upon the concepts given in lessons, (which familiarizes them more with the information). I look forward to helping you unlock your potential!

My music theory lessons are focused on the student. I will work with you to make sure that you are getting the knowledge and developing the skills that you need to accomplish your goals. This keeps me on my toes as a teacher, and allows my students to take advantage of a flexible and understanding instructor.

I can teach you how to read music notation, build chords, harmonize a melody, write an interesting chord progression and smoothly connect those chords. I can teach you how to hear intervals and chord progressions using ear training, as well as teach you how to understand and use them in different musical contexts.

I can teach anyone from very beginners to college music majors who need help with their homework. I can teach you how to read your first notes, analyze Beethoven, create a twelve tone matrix, compose like Debussy and more.

My main instrument is trumpet, but in recent years my passion for music has driven me to learn many instruments such as piano, accordion, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, and others.

Over the years I have developed a deep love for music theory. I have written and performed several of my own original compositions, as well as large analysis projects of composers such as Beethoven, Schubert, and Debussy.

Each individual learns music theory at a different pace. Some grasp the finer points with ease, while others may take their time getting to know the ins and outs of this complicated subject matter.

This is something that Seth understands well. As one who struggled immensely with many of the more difficult concepts I came across, Seth continually demonstrated a deep understanding of a broad spectrum of concepts as well as patience in regard to the speed at which I was able to progress.

I have had few music teachers who are as willing to accommodate as Seth.
