Pamlea is an excellent instructor who wastes no time getting right into the technique required for proper singing. She has a vast array of tricks and tips which help you familiarize yourself with the muscles and movements required for the artform, and I would highly encourage any folk interested in learning to sing to seriously consider Pamela as an instructor.

I have been studying Double Bass for around 11 years now, and have had numerous teachers who I have liked and disliked, so I know what has helped me the most throughout my career thus far. In our lessons, I hope that I can pass on everything I have learned to you as well. I am open for my students to try new things on the Double Bass because that is how one can really truly grow as a musician. I look forward to seeing how you progress on this beautiful instrument.

About Payton

I started playing the Double Bass when I was in 4th grade, simply because it was the biggest instrument the school had to offer. On my career so far, I have had plenty of teachers that have taught me how to excel at my instrument of course, but they have also taught me the correct way to teach stude

"I studied under Jordan when he was a TA at SDSU. He was laid back, easy to get along with, and always helpful when I had questions for him.
Since then, I've had the pleasure of performing in SDSU ensembles with Jordan. I mean it when I say it: Jordan is not only one of the best music teachers in San Diego, but he is also one of the best trombone players I've ever had the pleasure of knowing."

"My son takes beginning band with Nick. This group of very young players is learning how to hear a piece of music, break it down, play it together, and make it their own. Along the way, Mr. Nick teaches them theory, technique, and joy in playing music. Nick has the patience of a saint. His expertise is in guitar and banjo, but he knows his way around the whole band, and can teach rhythm and technique on a wide range of instruments. I highly recommend. Note, we’ve done lessons both on line and in person. Both were good."

Have your questions and goals ready to tell him, and he will give you exactly what you need to sound better. He is very intuitive and understanding, and he will use every minute of your time efficiently with practical exercises that work. He was also very responsible, dependable, easy to reach and punctual. "Buzz is an excellent teacher and brings real world music experience into his instruction. As a touring musician, producer, song writer, and arranger, Buzz has an understanding of practical application. When I perform, I am always looking for ways to play smarter, and Buzz always helps with that. Buzz will break down music theory in a way that makes sense and that I can apply to my own playing on gigs and in rehearsal sessions. Buzz is a tremendous teacher for beginners (I have watched him give lessons to young students and he is excellent) , but if you are an experienced player and are just looking to get better, working with Buzz will get you there. I promise you'll play better after one lesson."

"Bill is a thoughtful teacher, an amazing musician, and a really caring guy

I would highly recommend Bill! He is such a great player and teacher! He has helped enormously with my saxophone playing, clarinet playing, and improvising.

Since my saxophone playing is already fairly advanced. In our lessons on saxophone focus heavily on advanced jazz improvisation topics, like standard tunes, and transcription. He is so knowledgeable on these advanced topics but is really great at showing me the basics so that I can learn at my own level and pace.

On clarinet Bill and I work on more classical studies and instrument technique to get my clarinet playing more on track.

Bill is such a patient and motivating teacher. It is clear that he cares deeply about MY SUCCESS in music. He has helped me feel good about my musical progress and inspired me to work harder!

He has even given me lots of great music business advice, and helped me think about what I want out of music in my life.

Bill is so easy to get along with and is really careful to explain things in a way that I can understand them.

Its been really awesome getting to know and work with him!"

"I have taken lessons from Dr. Serna for bass viol for three years. First in my home, then on-line due to Corona virus restrictions. I appreciate Dr. Serna's extensive education, which presents during our lesson in a variety of ways. First, in his knowledge of repertoire for the instrument. He is undaunted by any piece in inquire about. Second, he discusses music theory when teaching a piece of music, which strengthens my understanding. Third, he has played multiple instruments, including classical guitar. As I also played classical guitar, this has provided some creative and enjoyable synergy. He also pulls from his double bass technique to assist with teaching the bass viol. Fourth, he is keenly observant and notices subtle position faults, etc., even over Zoom calls! Amazing! Finally, he is patient and takes the long view in teaching the student. He is able to notice what is good/improving even when I am struggling with something. His lessons are light-hearted and positive."
