If you are someone who wants to understand the theory behind some of your favorite songs and learn how to write those infectious melodies and harmonies yourself, look no further. I am a pianist and performer of 15 years, and have been teaching Music & Technology students for 4 years now, so I have a direct relationship with music theory and their applications in composition, orchestration, and production. My lessons will be tailored to your goals as a musician and will be comprehensive, and not just focused on music theory. I can help you write, record, mix, and master a song, understanding the intricacies of each step in the process. In addition, by understanding the overall impact of music in culture and society, you will be able to take your art form to the next level, writing great music that will make you proud and impress the world.

4-5 months in, I can confidently say that I'm loving him as my keyboard instructor! He personally encouraged me to practice using the music that I love, while blending it with his teaching to exactly point out on how one needs to approach these things. He's been really flexible in terms of scheduling during this time and that has also allowed me to come to class when I'm at 100%.
I don't know if my keyboard abilities are next level compared to when I started (it has improved), but I'm certainly enjoying this process!

I can help you to better understand music theory through explanations that make sense to you. Everything you want to know will be introduced to you at your own pace even if you don't have a clear idea of what theory concepts you'd like to know. I have taken quite a few theory classes including the more advanced subjects like form and analysis and counterpoint, even some composition and arrangement independent studies. Theory can seem esoteric to some and I myself even thought so at first, but through practice and experience I have learned to appreciate it. Let's learn in a way that works for you!

One of the most common weaknesses for amateur musicians is a lack of music theory knowledge. Many people assume that learning theory is difficult (it isn’t) that it has no practical purpose (it does), or even that it will actively make them worse at making music (quite the opposite). That way, a performer with a naturally lower singing voice (like myself) will be able to more comfortably sing a song that was originally written for someone with a naturally higher voice. Or vice versa. For singers, transposition feels fairly …
