Luther stays where I’m at and then helps me go the next step. That is useful for consistent gradual progress without the frustrations of moving either too slow or too fast (I am a beginning tenor saxophone player). Nice interpersonal style, patient and easy going, while methodical.

I think Luther is great. He works with my 10-year old son on piano, singing and even trumpet and violin as needed. My son has to work hard to progress, and Luther customizes the lesson plan for him and seems to understand him well. I'm really excited about them working together.

I only got to take lessons from Marc for a couple of months in the summer of 2016 (I had to move away for work), but he is hands down the best music teacher I've ever encountered. It's a year and a half later and I'm still benefitting from his tutelage. From beginner to advanced, you've found the right guy for the job.

My lesson plans are designed to be musical and fun. I want my students to understand the language of the music by studying their favorite bands and understanding the theory behind it. I have a strategy for everyone starting from beginner, intermediate, to advanced. I remember picking up a guitar for the first time and what a struggle it was to play my favorite songs. There is a method for achieving these goals and it is different for everyone. The one thing that will allow you to succeed is having a desire to learn and a passion for music. If you have those two things then I can direct you to the right path to achieve your musical goals!

My 14 year old daughter has loved having Steven as her piano teacher so much so in fact that she also wanted to try voice as well (even with her anxiety!). Her overall confidence and skills in playing have increased tremendously which she is thrilled with. We purchased packages of 5 at a time and we were happy with Steven's instruction in my home in Katy.

Steven is very personable and put my 13 daughter at ease very quickly. She was excited to start piano lessons and was very encouraged after her first lesson — so encouraged in fact that I’m glad we have purchased 5 lessons already! And she has been enjoying the practice as well!

Vic is a great teacher....doesn't hold back! You'll know how the lessons are going. Vic actually taught me basic banjo technique as well and I played drums in a band he mentored for a few years. It turned out to be a terrific experience and he taught me an awful lot about dynamics on drums in spite of that NOT being his instrument. He's a great teacher! And ARTIST. If you have the chance to take lessons from Vic, do it!!

Vic is a multi talented musician. He is able to translate musical skills and techniques to the students learning style and level. He has an easy going, warm yet direct manner. And when you go for a lesson he will have a different guitar every time! Vic is one of the best guitar teachers I’ve had.

Vic makes learning easy and fun. I’ve always felt intimidated to learn the guitar, but he’s very approachable and never makes me feel insecure or uncomfortable. I have learned so much, and I have even played in front of people, which is something I never thought I’d do!

"Puts a fun spin on learning!

My daughter is 10 and has been taking lessons with Brandon for about 3 months now. She has learned a lot and is starting to feel more comfortable with the guitar. She was starting from a total beginner, so Brandon has also been teaching her the basics of music theory.
He is always in a good mood and has fun with the lesson, but also does a good job of keeping the focus on learning. He has a plan for what she needs to learn next, but he allows the student to make the choices and set the direction. He is patient about certain aspects being more difficult to learn.
It think Brandon could teach anyone to play guitar, since he really lets the student set the tone, but his demeanor is great for kids. My daughter looks up to him and knows that he is cool, which helps her remember that learning the guitar is cool.
I appreciate that he isn't an over/under communicator and that he is always there and on time for the lesson. He is professional, but not overly strict or "all-business."
Thanks Brandon!"

"What can I say about Garrett. I have never met a better guitarist in my 20 years of playing. Taking lessons with him was one of the best decisions I ever made. I would pay him double. No matter the guitar style, Garrett seems to have played it for years and has real insight on any of the different styles from Blues, to Country, to Rock, to Classic Rock, to Metal. He helped me not just learn riffs or songs but scales and has bug in teaching me more advanced music theory as well. He truly is the perfect mix of good person and amazing guitarist. Don’t miss the chance to learn from one of the best no matter your skill level!"

"Eric is a really great teacher! He is very patient with my 13 year old daughter, a beginner, during her lessons and always seems very supportive and enthusiastic as she slowly progresses from week to week. He is an accomplished musician himself and plays along with her to show her how something should sound. Eric has a nice laid back attitude, is very on target with my daughter's musical tastes and he has a great personality! I am very happy with his teaching methods and we hope to continue her lessons with him for the next few years."

"I am a novice guitar player and took lessons from Matt for 10 weeks to try to take my playing up a notch. Matt's teaching style is excellent and was driven by what I wanted. He didn't try to force any particular curriculum but built the lessons around what I wanted to learn. He taught me techniques to learn songs I wanted to play and even mixed in some music theory. I had asked to learn a little theory and Matt made it really interesting. I highly recommend Matt as a guitar instructor!"

"What a great teacher

Raymond has taken his time with my daughter Paige who is 14 and is very patient with her. He will let her know where she is slacking and also what she is doing okay. For a beginer,Paige has come a long way on only 6 lessons. Raymond has nerves of steel because I know what its like dealing with teenagers. We thank you for all of your hard work and hospitality.

"I was fortunate enough to take lessons with Ahmad years ago and I can say he is the most committed and focused guitar teacher I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I've sorted through more than a few. When I returned to the area after a few years in a job out of state I very quickly looked Ahmad up and began working with him again. I believe he has a real skill at determining what his students need to focus on to arrive at their goals and he is equally adept at presenting the material in the right amount at the most beneficial time. His instruction bolstered my confidence as a musician and enabled me to achieve longstanding goals of playing with other musicians, in key and on time;) it is also very clear that teaching guitar is Ahmad's passion and I found that very important, it's what he does for a living sure, but his dedication is rooted in something deeper and it shows. There are many tips, licks, and tricks instructors out there and that can be fine, but a true teacher is rare indeed. If you follow his lead he'll make you better."

From Guitar to Mandolin and More: How Easy is it to Switch Instruments?

It's an awesome feeling when you start making music! And after you've mastered a few songs, you might even have the itch to start branching out. Here, Doswell, VA teacher Jesse S. answers the question: Once you learn guitar, how easy is it to switch to bass, mandolin, or other stringed instruments?   This is a question that I hear frequently in guitar lessons.  Most students who start playing guitar will eventually become interested in trying to learn another stringed instrument; but doe …
