I'm a musician in Nashville, TN which means I'm exposed to many different playing styles. I play mainly Rock, Blues, and Contemporary Christian Worship/Gospel style guitar. I grew up without a guitar teacher, mainly learning from the internet, but have since gotten formal guitar training in college. I have taught in person in the past and am eager to have students again. I can help with everything from technique, to theory, and can even help students who come "just wanting to learn how to play _______". I've been there in all of those situations and love to help inspire students to play guitar. I can teach from either the electric guitar or acoustic guitar, depending on what the student would like to learn on.
About Isaiah
I'm a Worship Leader and session guitarist in Nashville, TN. I have been on many singles and albums and would love to share my knowledge of the guitar with you. I offer lessons in both classical and fingerstyle guitar (especially for open tunings like DADGAD, for which I have published two books with Mel Bay). I tailor my lessons to the individual, but I like to concentrate on both technique and overall musical expression. When called for, I offer assistance in basic theory, including rhythm, chord structure, and melodic playing--and can teach both standard notation and tablature. One of my classical guitar students has commented, Julie "has patiently brought me through increasingly more difficult technique by choosing a wide variety of challenging but enjoyable pieces to practice. I am gradually working my way up the fret towards the 5th position. She has helped me with theory, including rhythm, the major and minor scales and chord building. Her empathy is a particular blessing for me because of my poor eyesight and the arthritis in my wrists, hands and fingers.”
About Julie
Note: If you do not find the availability you are looking for on my calendar, I may still be able to accommodate you; don't hesitate to suggest a time that works better for you. I am a professional musician, specializing in traditional American and Irish music and song; I can, however, also tea

Barbara has taught me to further my guitar skills and given me confidence to play in a group. Not only is she a great teacher but she is a great and warm person. Thanks for everything!!"

Tim is a phenomenal instructor! I have tried expensive videos by Marty Schwartz, subscription services like JamPlay.com, and have spent hundreds of dollars on Skype lessons with popular YouTube instructors like Mike Gross. In the year that I have been playing, one month of lessons with Tim did more for my playing than 11 months with the other methods I've tried. You owe it to yourself to give Tim a month of your time. He transformed my understanding of the guitar, has taught me to be self-sufficient with learning songs I hear, and has made playing exciting. Without being able to articulate exactly what I wanted to accomplish, Tim's uncanny intuition for balancing what I think I needed with what I really need took my playing to the next level very quickly. Nothing can substitute the depth of his musical knowledge, but more importantly, his keen sense of feeding me just what I need from everything he knows. Tim carefully plans out a lesson for me based off of my progress, has me take notes, and gives me ideas on how to improve before my next lesson. The most exciting day of my week is the hour I spend learning from a great instructor and a great human being. I couldn't be happier with my decision to learn how to play from Tim."

I am a beginner guitar player, Dave has been patient and kind at every lesson. This has been an inspiration and a great help for me to continue learning the guitar. I wanted to find a guitar teacher and not just a guitar player; his approach to teaching is outstanding. He has a love for music and a gift of being an excellent teacher. I always leave my lesson feeling good about my progress and inspired to continue learning to play the guitar. I recommend him for any player at any level; he he teaches good practice habits and is very knowledgeable of music theory and how to teach each person individually. It is rare to find someone knowledgeable in music and apply their knowledge to teaching. I was fortunate to find him!"

Buying your first guitar and strumming your very first note can be an exciting feeling - and that's only the beginning! Pretty soon, you'll be mastering major and minor chords, impressing your friends and family with full songs and spouting off music theory. And of course, next comes venturing on stage, sold-out shows and hearing the roar of the crowd, right? Before you get too far ahead of yourself, it's important to evaluate your playing style and make sure you have good practice habits …
