Whether you are a beginner inspired to break down the chord progression of your favorite song, or you've been writing music for years but just can't seem to make further progress on your own...I've got you covered!

I have taught music lessons for over 20 years to students of all ages. I care deeply about helping students reach their goals, and I never cease to be amazed at the beauty and creativity involved in making music.

My background in a nutshell: I have a degree in music with a focus on percussion and music composition from a major university, I've studied with some of the greatest musicians and composers in the world, and I lead and compose the music for a jazz quartet in New York City.

Are you ready? Let's get started!

About Jesse

I have a bachelor's degree in music (percussion & composition) from the University of Minnesota, where I studied percussion with Fernando Meza, jazz drums with Phil Hey, and music composition with Judith Zaimont. I also studied for several years with the renowned jazz drummer Dave King (The Bad Plu

As an intermediate drummer, Jesse's lessons were a perfect fit for me! I've been with him for about two years now. He's an experienced and skilled musician, but more importantly he's patient, motivating, and overall just a great teacher. I always feel like I'm getting my money's worth when going to his lessons. My skill level and enjoyment level of drumming have dramatically increased since beginning studying with him. I have no plans to quit taking lessons with Jesse anytime soon!

Jesse is a great drums instructor and musical mentor. He has a great set-up for teaching drums online, and a cozy home studio in Morningside Heights if you prefer in person instruction. His hourly rate is the best deal you'll find on Manhattan. I previously paid $150-200 per hour for college instruction, and Jesse's teaching is as good or better than any college instructors. He is clear, friendly, patient, and able to cater instruction to both the ability and aspirations of his students.
Peter
Jesse is a true professional, a technician, and an artist. And he yearns to see his students level up. I love his taste in music! I wish I could receive his tutelage more often.

Throughout my time at Berklee, NEC, and now Juilliard, I have studied with many great teachers and musicians from Wynton Marsalis, Eddie Henderson, Kenny Barron, Tiger Okoshi, John McNeil, and Laurie Frink to Jerry Bergonzi, and Miguel Zenon. The diverse subjects we went over in lessons and classes gives me a unique knowledge of certain styles and musical ideas. I try to be as personal and individual as I can when it comes to teaching students. That was the thing that stood out amongst my favorite teachers.

About David

A graduate of the Juilliard School, I have performed with some of the worlds most accomplished and well-known musicians, including Wayne Shorter, Dave Liebman, Arturo O’Farrill, Ellis Marsalis, Randy Weston, among many others. Along with performances at the Blue Note, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Small

"I had been wanting to learn how to play the guitar for years and for my B-day my girlfriend bought me some lessons. She couldn't have picked a better place to buy the lessons from.
Ahmad makes you feel comfortable and really understands the way that people learn and how to teach in the most effective way. The guitar is a tough instrument to learn and you want to learn from someone knowledgeable and patient and that's exactly what Ahmad is."

I'm taking music theory and composition lessons from Daniel to supplement what I already know from composing by ear.
