About Paul
Paul M is an American born, New York-based Piano teacher, Vocal coach, Pianist, Composer and Artist. As an educator, Paul is part of The Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum, College Music Society and Music Teachers National. He has been an Adjunct-instructor at New York University (NYU). Paul also conducts master classes and seminars in The United states and South America. For the past few years, he has implemented classes in composition and music history in the coastal area of Ecuador and New York. His music studio in New York City is in high demand. He works with piano, composition and vocal performance students of all levels and styles, which include classical, jazz, blues, Tango, and Broadway. Paul also works with all different types of students such as those who want to learn for personal enjoyment or for professional reasons. He prepares h

As a Pianist, In 2006 Paul was a prizewinner at the Music Club of Douglaston Piano Competition. For two consecutive years, Paul was awarded The Suffolk County Piano Forum Prize. XLNT Music recently wrote, “Paul is a fine pianist that performs with superb pianism and great sensitivity.”
 His recent public performances include Ecuador South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters NYC and The Staller Center. Paul has performed with The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and The New York University Symphony Orchestra. He has studied with well-known piano teachers including: Martin Canin, Morey Ritt, Tina Dahl, and Anita Gelber. In 2011 he released a record consisting of his performance of original compositions for solo piano that is available in bookstores and on iTunes.
As a composer Paul has composed music for the feature film Documentary Between the Shades, directed by Jill Salvino and premiered at the Soho International Film Festival in 2017. In 2014, Paul was the composer for the radio show Ackerman Associates Meets Dracula written and directed by Peter Stass. In 2014 he wrote the score for, Lies People Tell, a short film that premiered at the san pedro film festival. In 2011, he released his first solo record Succession of images, a song cycle for solo piano. In 2017, he released his second record Hope, a chamber music work recorded with clarinetist Thomas Piercy and Violinist Patrisa Tomassini. Recent public piano performances of his music include Ecuador in South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Spectrum NYC, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters in NYC and The Staller Center in Stony Brook NY.

As an artist, Paul is known for creating large instillations, paintings and live performing art pieces. From 2014-2016, he was the artist in residence at Spectrum Gallery in NYC. In 2014, he completed the Elevator Time Machine, a large instillation made of elevator parts that responds to sound. He also wrote and produced a 20 minute live art piece called Static in Movement for piano and video. His acrylic on canvas works have also been presented at Spectrum NYC, The Art Bar, The Gallery at Logos and Ward-Nasse gallery.

I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.
Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

About Marc
Percussionist and composer Marc W. was born in Switzerland, where he studied classical percussion at the Geneva Conservatory. He has lived in the United States since the 1980's, where he studied composition and mallet technique on the vibraphone at the Berklee School in Boston, then moved to New York City to further his jazz performance and percussion skills. Since that time, Marc has toured the U.S., Europe, Japan and Brazil, and can be heard on over 20 recordings, including 4 solo albums.
Marc's interest in electronics led him to push the boundaries of live performance with the "electronic vibraphone", where he is recognized as a pioneer on this instrument.
Beside a performer and a composer, Marc teaches workshops here and in Europe, and is very involved in making computers accessible to visually impaired musicians.
Marc has just p
ublished an iBook, titled "Drum Talk - An Introduction to Percussion Ensemble", available now on iTunes. This book demonstrates the techniques he developed during his many years teaching ensembles of all ages at the Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School, it features 56 video clips and over 80 musical examples.

Every student needs a different approach depending on their temperament and goals. After assessing the student, I will tailor my teaching to achieve the most out of each lesson.
If a student is willing to commit to practicing outside of the lesson, after six months he or she will have the ability to play with others, and decide for him or herself if this is something he or she will pursue further.
The achievement level is in the hands of the student, depending on their level of commitment and abilities.

Marc is a great teacher. Classes are always very friendly and productive. In my case, each class begins with a review of progress/practice, and ends with a meaningful and personalized homework. He is also very flexible, sometimes I had to move my classes around and he's always super responsive and understanding. I knew nothing about drums, and I am happy I decided to begin my journey to learn how to play them, with Marc as a mentor!

Alex provides helpful and thorough instruction in a great teaching environment

My son Steve had started playing the drums in 5th grade as part of the school music program, but at age 11 he wanted to start taking them more seriously, so my wife and I bought him a shiny new drumset for Christmas. Lo and behold, it sat in our basement for a year without being touched. Finally, we insisted he take a few lessons and start practicing on his set; after much arm-twisting, we got him to agree to take lessons from Alex for three weeks before giving up on music entirely. After the first lesson, Steve came home, set up his drumset, and practiced for 3-4 hours every night that week. Alex provided him with ample practice materials to get started, and also exposed him to lots of different music to inspire him. Last week Steve was talking about Roy Haynes and Art Blakey, names I hadn't heard someone say since my father passed away (he was a HUGE jazz fan). In several months, my son has progressed to the point where he has to choose which friends to jam with on Saturdays--he simply doesn't have time for all of them! I've seen it affect his studies too--through elementary and middle school, Steve was an average student that did what he had to to get by, but this year he has really turned it around, finishing all his assignments the day they're assigned and going out of his way to complete extra credit opportunities in his classes. I am sure this motivation will seriously help him as he enters high school, as long as he keeps playing the drums and getting lessons from Alex. Although most of our lessons are in Alex's well-equipped studio, a couple times we needed him to come to our house and it wasn't a problem at all; he was on time and brought necessary materials with him. Alex's lessons have had a major impact on not only my son's musical development but his life, and I would strongly recommend him to any parent looking for a drum instructor.

About Andrew
I've been studying music for 10 years now. Having come to music later in life than most, I find that I am more empathetic to the perspective of the beginning student than many teachers. I spent the Summer of 2009 teaching music fundamentals to groups of severely physically and mentally disabled children of all ages. Since then I've completed my Bachelors degree in Music, taught privately and with several established music schools.

To me, music is above all about transformation. Beautiful sound transforms our experience of the environment, and learning an instrument can help students approach life as one big instrument they need to practice to master.
Learning to play an instrument is also an experience of training one’s nervous system to gradually act and respond in new ways, and that kind of persistent, focused
, training is applicable to any new skill.
Last and definitely not least, playing music is fun.

I plan my lessons around getting students to enjoy playing music as soon as possible, whether that means learning how to strum a chord rhythmically, playing their favorite song, or how to take a blues solo.
There are steps that have to be climbed to do more complex things and I encourage students to practice a little every day rather than for a long time once or twice a week. Developing a love of music and steady practice habits are more beneficial over the long term than practicing until your limit.

Time flies; another year has almost gone by since I started my lessons with Cândida. Thought it would be a good time to leave an update here.
Anything I write down doesn’t feel quite enough, really. She has become so much more than a music teacher (or maybe that’s how the best teachers should be?). A friend, a wise guide in the world of music that’s so easy to get lost in and burn out. With a day job and family, I could have stayed a noodler on various instruments forever, but thanks to her I now can call myself a musician - while keeping that tricky life-music balance. I have been taking lessons with Candida for a few months. She is the most amazing instructor I have had the privilege of knowing. Her patience and understanding to helping me learn to sing and play the piano is exemplified by the fact that English is not my first language, yet she had never given up on me, even when I felt I could not do it. Her positive attitude and supportive nature made me never want to give up. Learning something new is something everyone should strive to achieve no matter what age you are and Candida is the best instructor if singing is your passion. His music has been broadcast on stations across the Unites States, including WWFM, MPR, WPRB, and KWIT/KOJI, among others.

Born in Georgia and raised in California, Saad holds degrees in composition from the Juilliard School and the University of Southern California, where his principal teachers included John Corigliano, Mari Kimura, Bruce Broughton, Frank Ticheli, Stephen Hartke, and Donald Crockett. I started with Saad at a music camp upstate I was attending and of which he was composition faculty. Having taken plenty of music theory in the past but no formal composition, I didn’t know what to expect. First off, Saad’s manner couldn’t have been more calming or inviting from the very beginning, and that really built a great rapport between us and allowed me to do my best work. Secondly, based on my accounts of my past training, it took little time for Saad to identify what were my strengths and what we needed to study in order to ensure my best compositional outputs. We studied invertible counterpoint, a complex subject fundamental to nearly all forms of advanced classical counterpoint. Saad made the subject really approachable through intricate but understandable explanations of different concepts and provided really illustrative examples of each concept. Even a year after those several weeks of study, in which I have hardly written nearly the number of contrapuntal exercises as I did in the weeks during and after Saad’s tutelage, I still find canon and fugue writing to be doable and even fun, testament to how I was able to hold on to Saad’s teachings even long after working with him. I couldn’t recommend Saad’s abilities and qualities higher to anyone wishing to take composition lessons, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that he is an accomplished, experienced, fascinating, and highly-sought-after composer in his own right. Even after working with dozens of different teachers in different musical disciplines, I have found my studies with Saad to be among the absolute most rewarding.

Saad was able to guide me into directions in my compositions I wouldn’t have thought would be possible otherwise. I recommend him highly as he pushed me to work as hard as I could on my pieces, while at the same time highlighting pertinent contemporary repertoire in our lessons.
