Despite what TakeLessons says about my location, I can come to you even if you don't live on the East side.
I have an associates degree in music and I have been teaching lessons for 10 years now. I also have experience as a substitute teacher. As a substitute, I have taught all grades, all subjects, and I have helped out many kinds of students each with their own way of learning.
Besides teaching, I love learning too. Anytime I have a question I immediately start seeking out the answer. Learning never stops!
*** Lesson Details *** Ever wondered how musicians write music? Why do they make the choices they make? Why do those choices work? Why does music work the way that it does? I can answer all these questions and much more.
With me as your guide, I will unlock your musical superpowers and make you capable of things you didn't know were possible. I have many different methods for teaching not only technique, but how to listen, and ho
w to think creatively so that you can unlock your full potential.
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide my guitar, picks, and tuner and that's really all you will need as well.
I'll occasionally bring my laptop with me to use some music software to assist in my lessons.
I'll always have pens and paper so I can make notes or diagrams if needed. I highly recommend that my students have a spiral notebook so I can more easily cater to them.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in many musical genres including rock, ska, punk, progressive, jazz, folk, and more. Music theory is a big part of what I do as it's the universal language of music. If you learn enough theory, you can learn ANY instrument.
John is incredibly smart about theory and understanding the guitar having worked out his own individual way of learning that he is happy to share his trade secrets.
May 18, 2016
My son was new guitar player, he has now had several lessons with John. We have seen his skills grown exponentially. John really connects with him and keeps him engaged. He has taught him soo much in such a short span of time. John is a fantastic teacher!
I am a PhD candidate in Music Theory. I am specialized in XX century music analysis.
I have an extensive training in "training" musicians: it doesn't matter if you are young or old, beginner or advanced, I will bring you to the next level. I am a pianist and a music theorist, I am a dedicated and successful teacher. I hold degrees from Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Italy, Accademia Puccininana, I have a Master in piano performance and am working through my PhD in Music Theory. As you can see, I love to learn. My lessons will take you where you are and bring you a step further. I'll explain you in detail how to reach your goals faster. Sometimes you'll need to work on your own way to learn, on yourself. I'll be always there to help you! Why you should have lesson with me? Simply because I am among the best teachers in the world and I love the idea to reach more students through this medium. And you'll have fun for su
My daughter has been training with Antonella for years and she does wonderful with kids. She loves music and has a passion that will help her students learn music and have fun while doing it
November 30, 2017
Antonella is an AMAZING teacher. I am an older adult student, with no music theory or background. She is very patient, accommodating, and uses very useful analogies that help me visualize what to do in a way that helps me learn and remember. My own weakness is in making time to diligently practice. I look forward to each lesson, and give her my highest recommendation.
August 13, 2017
Our experience with Antonella has been wonderful. She has high standards but is also extremely patient with young students. My daughter has learned beautiful technique but more importantly, she has expanded her mind, improved her sense of discipline and commitment and learned to play piano with a feel for the music. Working with Antonella is fantastic for the student and their parent/guardian. It's a joint effort. I highly recommend Antonella
I can teach you the basics of chord and scale structure, function, and how to incorporate these into composition and soloing.
I have been playing the drum set in various bands since 2001. I have also been playing with the OKC Community Orchestra since 2009. I have played in symphonic and jazz bands and a percussion ensemble. I have taught a percussion class, private lessons, and I have been a full time music teacher in the OKC district. I have recorded in the studio also, and I enjoy doing a bit of my own production. Rocking on stage is my favorite activity! I can teach you how to be an integral part of a band and play along to your favorites. I enjoy bringing out the best in a student and teaching to his/her strengths. Let's run!
*** Lesson Details *** I am a very easygoing and patient teacher. I fully understand that the drum set requires a high level of coordination, and I am mindful of this while working with students. I will begin with proper gr
ip and stroke technique as well as the use of a metronome. I will teach the student to read rhythms and drum set notation. I know how to isolate difficult patterns, break them down into understandable parts, and reintegrate them into a piece. I like to use the music that a student enjoys to relate to the written music. I have found YouTube to be an indispensable tool for this, and my students have responded very well. I will work on snare drum technique as well, because it is the primary voice on the set, and the touch and nuance required to play it well relate to the set as well. I will tailor my instruction to suit the student's learning style and preferences. I want to make the learning fun, so I will help the student quickly gain the basic skills to play along with their favorite bands. This promotes musicality as well as solid time. It will also aid in transcription, which will come with development and is a valuable tool. I will use this in tandem with technique-building exercises to form a well rounded musician. I believe that a student should have a familiarity with his/her instrument, so we will also go over the anatomy and tuning of the set. Above all, music should be fun!
*** Studio Equipment *** Music room w/ drum set, hand drums, and seating for parents
*** Travel Equipment *** I have a practice pad, snare drum, and sticks. If a student wishes to have drum set lessons in his/her home, that instrument should be there. **Please note** I do have a drum set in my home.
*** Specialties *** For the drum set, I am the most experienced in rock, country, and bluegrass styles. I am comfortable with both Stevens and Burton grips for mallet instruments.

Many may know the saying that music is the universal language of mankind, but most people probably don't know just how much music can function similar to a language. Knowing music theory gives you the opportunity to "translate" between musical "dialects." Perhaps you know guitar, but have trouble communicating to your bass player the progressions you play with a capo. Or a keyboardist that has hit a wall in trying to make sense of the timing your drummer is trying to get you to hit. Music theory gives you the foundational building blocks to speak the same musical language, regardless of your instrument. I like to take a simplistic approach to music theory that helps even brand new musicians quickly gain a solid understanding of the subject.
A short history of my experience with music and education:
The first instrument I learned to play was the guitar in 2001.
I played the guitar on the worship team at FBC of Midway in Plant City, FL from 2001 to 2005.
I began teaching private music lessons in 2003.
I played bass guitar in a Christian rock band called of Anastasis from 2003 to 2005.
I played acoustic, electric, and bass guitar on the worship team at Family Worship Center in Lakeland, FL from 2006 to 2012.
I worked as a freelance audio engineer with my in-home recording studio throughout college (and now I just do it for fun).
I played bass and sang background vocals in a worship band called Skyline from 2007 to 2009.
I taught music and trained a student led worship team at Hope Christian Academy from 2009-2010.
I began performing independently from
2009 to present.
I played guitar and sang lead vocals in a Christian Rock Band called A Story Familiar from 2010 to 2012.
From 2010 to 2012, I taught in the Polk County public school system of Florida from 2010 to 2012, where I also worked heavily with students with special needs.
In July of 2012 I moved to Aurora, CO as a volunteer musician to help plant Streams Church.
In January of 2013 I married my beautiful wife.
Upon arriving home from our honeymoon, I was hired as Worship Director for Streams church, and I have worked there since. Some of my responsibilities include developing and executing weekly music set lists, creating charts and sheet music for new songs, and training the worship team in new music.
As for me personally, I love Jesus, my wife, and music. As I'm sure you can tell by my brief history, I do a lot of church service and ministry, if for this for any reason makes you wary, let me assure you: I play a lot more than just church music. As a lover of music, there is not much that I don't enjoy in the world of music, and I've taught most of it. I've taught the young and the not-so-young, and whether you're just beginning to read music, or you're just eager to learn your favorite song, I work closely with you to ensure you achieve the results you desire!
*** Lesson Details *** Four things I focus on: 1. Creating individualized lesson plans for you 2. Teaching you new techniques and polishing old ones 3. Building your confidence 4. Both of us having a fun, rockin' time!
When taking lessons from me, students can expect an environment that is a balance between being strict and laid back.Music is something that must be learned, and as such, it must also be practiced week-to-week in between lessons. I consider myself strict because I'll hold you accountable to doing your best to learn the best. Despite holding you accountable, I think the overall mood of the learning environment is laid back; we'll have a lot of fun learning music. I make sure that we'll be learning at your pace, but keep in mind, this doesn't mean I won't push you to be your best! My teaching experience has taught me one thing: everyone is different. That being the case, I create lesson plans that are unique to you. Where you will be in a month, six months, a year, largely depends on your commitment to learn, but I'll promise you this: all of my efforts will be utilized to maximize your potentiality.
*** Attendance Policy *** I am very flexible with attendance, but I do require a one hour notice that you will not be at the lesson. If a one hour notice is not given, the lesson will be marked as "missed" resulting in payment from your TakeLessons account for the missed lesson.
If you are simply running late, please be sure to let me know-I try to be as flexible as possible, but if the student is over 15 minutes late, I typically mark this lesson as "missed" as well.
*** Studio Equipment *** I provide the following equipment for in-studio lessons: Guitar amplifier Bass amplifier Drum Set Computer iPad Recording equipment Music stand Seating area for parents/guardians to sit/listen in on the lesson
*** Travel Equipment *** When offering in-home lessons, I provide the following when traveling for in-home lessons: iPad For in-home lessons, I expect students to have whatever equipment is necessary for learning their instrument of interest (This typically includes at least the student's instrument and a music stand, but may also include a metronome, tuner, etc.).
*** Specialties *** Rock, Jazz, Blues, Folk, Praise/Worship, Indie

Chris is very knowledgeable, patient, and very thorough! I have had an amazing experience and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn guitar or improve their skills.
January 31, 2016
We've only had 2 lessons so far and he is great! He is encouraging, polite, flexible, kind and takes the extra time if needed. He definitely knows how to teach and knows the natural developmental progression to build the foundation for a beginner and explains what the next goals she'll be working towards. He even learned a Justin Bieber song just to make my kid happy. Lol!

I have worked with almost every age possible and find it exciting to see people find out how great they are.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons with me will be positive and you will be pushed to be your best. I work with each student to f
ind out their goals and then show them the fastest and best way to reach those goals. As long as you follow instructions and practice, you can expect amazing results! Most of my students are in the top bands, make All-State auditioned groups, get highest ratings at Solo & Ensemble contests and know how to play!Even when time is a concern, I can still help you move forward. I had my first lesson with Kevin this evening and thought he was excellent. He was clear, personable, knowledgeable and understood well what I was looking for.
December 11, 2018
Respectful, knowledgeable, on task. I recommend to anyone.
Music Theory can appear to be a daunting foreign language. These lessons will bring the concepts easily and understandably into the light. I will personally lead you to practical and logical solutions that make Music Theory more naturally applicable to music, making it both easier and more practical.

Music theory is an important component of musical education - whether you want to learn how to transcribe music, are preparing for an audition or exam, or trying to get college credit through AP classes, I can help!
I have been teaching privately for over 10 years, and also teach at a local university; I have taught students of all ages, all levels and from all backgrounds.
I can help prepare for auditions, pass Certificate of Merit exams (with MTAC), enroll in SYMF, and much more.
Hello! Welcome to my profile - I can't wait to start working with you!
I have been teaching piano and general music topics for over 10 years; I have taught private lessons, college lectures, and high school classes - needless to say, I've seen students from all ages, all backgrounds and all levels. Lucky for me, they all one thing in common: a strong desire to learn music, and an open mind!
Some of my younger students have gone on to audition for arts high school in the greater LA area, and I've also helped a few prepare for college auditions. I've also been working with several students to prepare Certificate of Merit exams (in California) and I have been affiliated with the Southwestern Youth Music Festival as well. Other little ones were quite content learning how to play their favorite Christmas song or impress their friends
at their school's talent show.
I have also taught adults, who used to play and decided to pick it up again - or newbies wanting to discover the wonders of jazz standards.
In short, whatever your personal goal is, I can help you achieve it and hopefully inspire you to set a new goal to achieve right after that!
I can also help with music theory entrance exams, tutor for AP music classes or college classes, etc.
*Quick note on online lessons: Many prospective students are wary of online lessons and not sure if it's the right way to go for them - I always tell them that you'll never know until you try it for sure! I have taken online lessons myself in the past and loved the experience. I can also attest that several students get a much deeper musical understanding this way, because teachers can't just play an example and have the student copy it - the teacher actually needs to explain how to perform the passage, which leads to the student understanding clearly what is expected and how to achieve it, rather than just copy someone's hand movements without understanding why they are doing it in this particular way. I'm sure you'll also be more relaxed in the comfort of your own environment, at your own scheduled time!
Through her four albums and extensive performance schedule across North America, Canadian pianist and doctoral candidate Andree-Ann Deschenes is recognized as one of the world’s foremost advocates of the Latin American piano repertoire. For her efforts, The Whole Note celebrates her as a “very gifted pianist” with “a tremendous amount of energy, humour and astonishing talent”, while her career has gained the attention of outlets such as The Villa-Lobos Magazine, Classical Post, MainlyPiano, and Voyage LA.
Characterized by its catchy melodicism and evocative chromaticism, the music of Latin America has held a special reverence in Deschenes’ heart, beginning with her pursuit of a master’s degree in Afro-Latin music. “Some of history’s most brilliant composers,” Deschenes says, “come from Latin America, but the average audience has never heard of them or their work. My mission is to create a resurgence for this music, which deserves to hold equal weight with more familiar European composers in the canon.”
At the age of 30, Deschenes’ recording career is formidable, with an output as decorated as it is prolific. All of her first three albums–Cervantes, Lecuona & Nazareth (2014), Milhaud & Ginastera (2016), and Villa Lobos & Castro (2017)–were each awarded a Silver Medal for Outstanding Achievement by the Global Music Awards. Praise in the media comes from the blog Music for Several Instruments, who remarked that Deschenes “puts across the regional Brazilian folkloric flavour with cool clarity,” as well as The Whole Note, who celebrated her third album, Villa Lobos / Castro, as “a rich program revealing… skill and artistic mastery.”
Further recognition has come for her most recent album, The Ovalle Project (2018), a comprehensive two-disc record that revives the work of late Brazilian composer Jayme Ovalle—as of now the only commercially available recording of his piano works. In reviewing the album, Classical Post called Deschenes “the perfect person to take on [Ovalle’s music] and bring life back into his works,” while Mainly Piano remarked that “the variety in the moods, intensity and tonal colors is vast [in The Ovalle Project], and Ms. Deschenes has taken the time and attention as well as research to get inside of the music.”
Based in Los Angeles, Deschenes maintains an active lecture and performance schedule. A three-time semi-finalist for The American Prize, she currently serves on faculty for the California School of the Arts, Los Angeles.
Her education includes a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University, a Master of Music degree in Afro-Latin music from California State University Los Angeles, and an Advanced Diploma in Jazz from Toronto’s Humber College. She is grateful to her pedagogues, Dr. Jenny Soonjin Kim, Dr. Paul De Castro, Dave Restivo, David Virelles, Linda Brady, Yvan Leduc, and Elisa Chaput. Deschenes’ albums can be found on all major retail and streaming platforms.
Absolutely amazing instructor. Great with kids. Goes extra mile with selecting right music and guiding through.

Andree-Ann is coaching my children for an upcoming performance. She is able to quickly assess their level of preparation, identify problem areas and suggest practice solutions. My children showed immediate improvement in their practicing after one lesson. Andree-Ann encourages rigorous attention to detail when practicing technical assignments. She brings a high level of professionalism and confidence to teaching classical repertoire.

I have been attending online classes of arranging with Daniel for several months now and all I can say is that he has helped me greatly in progressing towards achieving my musical goals. Not only is he very clever and knowledgeable, but he can also adjust his teaching pace with the student's needs. The material he provided was excellent both from a quality point of view and from an organizational aspect. Overall, Daniel has been a great teacher for me and I am very happy I have found him. Thank you very much Daniel!

Daniel is very knowledgeable and my young one has learned a lot from him. Thanks Daniel!

"Great teacher. Much better than my theory teachers at Kennesaw State. If it wasn't for Maria I would have never gotten an A or even passed Music Theory or
Aural Skills. I plan to start working with her in the fall to help me test out of Group Piano."
"Justine is quite knowledgeable and patient, as she tailors the lessons to the student's ability and interest."
"Tomoko is a fantastic tutor. I had a lot of trouble understanding music theory because it had been a topic I hadn't seen before. She was able to explain t

Also, if you happen to get piano lessons from her, I'm sure you'll get more than your money's worth. She's an amazing jazz, classical, and overall pianist."
