I specialize in teaching music and guitar to children ages 7 through 18 including college prep for auditions. I hold a music degree from Montclair State University and have over 12 years of teaching experience.

This is perfect for home schooled children or as a supplement to public or private school music programs.
I specialize in acoustic guitar - both classical and contemporary, steel string and nylon.

Cheryl is a great teacher. She loves music and that enthusiasm is inspiring.
I am looking forward to many lessons

After a lesson with the legendary Jimmy COBB in 1992 during a visit to the Unite

He was very flexible with adjusting to my varying schedule.

Renaud is an incredibly patient teacher and works very well with our son. They have a great rapport and Bruno has made huge progress over the last couple of years that he's been working with Renaud. His rates are very reasonable (almost too reasonable!) and he conducts himself always in the most professional manner.

Renaud is a Great Instructor!
My son, Liam, eally enjoys his drum lessons with Renaud. He comes home excited about what he has learned and goes straight to his drums to show us. Renaud is teaching him the fundamentals, as well as challenging him with new rhythms. Liam's ability to read and write music has improved, as well as his speed. We are very pleased.

Dan is really good and creative teacher! I had fun lesson with him!
February 26, 2019
On the first lesson with Dan as an intermediate/advance level student, I have certain expectations of the kind of guidance I need to improve my playing (even if I usually play for my own personal pleasure). Dan was able to pinpoint some areas that I could improve which were very helpful. Looking forward to having more lessons with him.

I am a professional musician with years of experience both teaching and performing. I frequently perform with freelance bands and orchestras throughout the New York metropolitan area. I hold a masters of music from NYU and a bachelors in music from Rowan University.
I will teach all styles from orchestral to broadway and folk to pop. I make learning drums easy and fun and focus on what you want to explore!
I perform regularly in the tristate area. I will teach techniques to prep for a performance to stage presence.
I am a Hofstra University graduate with over fifteen years of experience in music. I have played at many of the venues in the NYC area and have toured with the R&B singer Macy Gray. I am currently working with four different bands in the tri-state area in addition to the session work.
*** Lesson Details *** In my lessons I take a step by step approach on learn how to move and how to understand the instrument at hand. I require all of my students to learn how to read sheet music and how to translate onto their instrument. I'm a laid back teacher and will teach what is most appealing to the student but in an academic style. I teach the student not just to play but to understand what it is he or she is playing. I will cater to any level of playing and help give a path to further their knowledge of playing.
Carissa Austria, age 8, learned piano with Jeff. Her lessons were instrumental in giving her the incentive to practice on her own. Jeff created lessons that made my daughter curious on how to play on her own and experimented with certain keys and sounds. Thank you Jeff for giving my daughter the deep insight to playing the piano not only from her weekly lessons but encouraging her to practice on her own with minimum supervision.
Being an active and experienced musician gives me the necessary knowledge to know what is needed on order to become a better musician. Also having over 20 years of teaching experience allows me to tailor my knowledge to the need of every particular student. I really enjoy to transfer my knowledge and solve the unique musical problem that every student encounter during their musical path.
Bassist and composer Andrea performs extensively within the improvised music scene, across a broad spectrum of genres. His instrumental tone, sensitivity and imagination, and melodic approach to a supposedly clumsy instrument brought him to perform and record with many established musicians. Based in New York City, his work as an instrumentalist and composer can be regularly heard at the top jazz clubs in the city and around the globe.
As a current faculty member of the New York Jazz Workshop, Andrea is a dedicated educator. He has taught master classes at the National Institute of Music and the National University of Costa Rica, at the Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey and at the Olav Duun Videregående Skole in Namsos, Norway. He also served as an adjunct professor at New York University, where he graduated in 2011 with a Master
of Music Degree in Performance with a Concentration in Jazz as a Fulbright scholarship recipient.
I am truly happy to have chosen Andrea as my teacher. Not only he has an intelligent approach on how to introduce and teach the Italian language, he is also very polite, friendly and accommodating. It’s a real pleasure to learn from him!
September 9, 2019
I had my first English lesson with Andrea and it was very useful for me. I think that he pointed on my problem. He's a keen observer.
April 16, 2019
Andrea is the best. He's personable, prompt, flexible yet clear, a pleasure to work with. He has given weekly Italian lessons to me and my wife in our home. We can't recommend him highly enough.
"Jesus is an excellent teacher in every way. He is personable, patient, flexible and has great rapport with my daughter. I feel very lucky to have found su
ch a wonderdul teacher."
Jane Y. (Ridgefield, WA)
"I have had the pleasure of playing in very complex musical collaborations with Suzan G. a couple of times recently and am thrilled to find out that she is
a teacher with Takelessons. I am a TL music teacher, and having seen her live and in person and discussed the theory of the music we are performing, I can highly recommend her.
Suzan is thoroughly knowledgable about music theory and composition and movement. Her piano skills are excellent especially when seen in the arena of jazz improve composition on the fly with a group of professionals. She can sight read complicated charts and sing beautifully at the same time, for songs she has never done, and these are the challenges that true musicians thrive upon.
As a TL teacher of children also, I can see that Suzan is very family friendly and cheerful, kind and helpful. All good signs of an excellent teacher! Your Kids will love her.
Way to go, Suzan, and keep up the great work!"
"My 4 year old daughter has been taking piano lessons from Annie for around 2-3 months and she LOVES it! Mrs Annie is so kind and patient with her, she is
progressively getting better and more interested with each lesson. I would recommend Annie to anyone who is looking for music or voice lessons! We love her"
"Cheryl is both an amazing performer and teacher. Her voice just blows me away!! Learned a lot from her."
"I hired Danny early this year 2016 at my home studio in Austin,TX. I have been working on a recording studio project. With 6 songs I needed to record. I d
id three songs on my own. That took a week and a half and at least 5 to 6 hrs each. I looked around and hired a local coach who was very classical and just didn't get it. 3 hrs I will never get back. I found Danny online, hired him, and it was perfect...We warmed up with scales and light cardio. Very different I will say but effective. Anyways, we finished the 3 songs in just under 2 hrs. Wow! Straight to the point. So I sing Gospel music and had so many techniques wrong. A little bit of good habits goes a long way."
"I studied under Jordan when he was a TA at SDSU. He was laid back, easy to get along with, and always helpful when I had questions for him. Since then,
I've had the pleasure of performing in SDSU ensembles with Jordan. I mean it when I say it: Jordan is not only one of the best music teachers in San Diego, but he is also one of the best trombone players I've ever had the pleasure of knowing."
"My son is extremely happy with his first lesson with Olivier! Looking forward to many more! Thank you!"
"This was my daughter's first experience with any kind of singing lessons and Cara was patient and helped my daughter feel comfortable. She was able to get
on stage for her school talent show feeling good about herself, and that was priceless."
"Jessica is an amazing teacher! She not only understands all the technicalities behind singing but she works to your strengths and helps you cultivate both
your inner and outer voice! I felt very comfortable with her and even got emotional a few times as it was such a powerful experience to be able to be vulnerable and engage in something I love so much. Jessica is the perfect mix between professional and experiential where you'll learn skills but you will also have fun doing it. I highly recommend Jessica for your musical needs. I look forward to my future sessions!! It also helps she is incredibly talented! An all around win and positive experience :)!"
