Music Theory is the Core of Understanding how ALL Music works anywhere in the world and applies to all Instruments. It's the insight into why we use certain Notes, Chords, & Scales and what makes them work. To have the knowledge is to be a Musician, which is to Understand that when writing a Song, or Improvising all thinks can work as long as you can make it work. It's the Musician who can figure out why it works so he or she will know where to go or what to play.

Jimmy is great, super down to earth. Went in with zero knowledge and am astonished at the difference in such a short time.

Jimmy does a great job teaching you physical elements of singing and really helped me understand what my body is doing when singing.

Awesome guy, can't say much else!

James does a great job of explaining what I need to do for my voice and how to get there with it. Breaking it down step by step. As someone who never had a voice lesson before hand, I can recommend him as a teacher.
Chris
Jimmy is fantastic. The foundations he helps to build in theory and technique are instrumental (heh) in becoming proficient with the guitar. He's also super accessible and responsive.

Pamela is great, very professional and welcoming. This was my daughter's first voice lesson ever and she was super excited when it was over. Looking forward to the next lesson. Highly recommended.
Kristian
I have had a vocal coach before meeting Pam, but she absolutely took it to another level. Pamela does a good job with teaching the mechanics of singing, as she pin points which muscles the body is using and how to use them properly when singing. She has a variety of warm ups and stretches to get your voice and body prepared to perform and is very good and pushing you to become your best. If you are a serious singer and would like to take the knowledge of your craft a step further, I would definitely recommend.

"David is awesome! I began lessons with him because i was not satisfied with the music theory classes at the school i am enrolled in, as well as the classes did not accommodate well to my learning differences. David not only has endless knowledge of music theory but also has shown me tools and helpful methods for studying music. I highly recommend taking lessons from David if you are either a beginner or you are at a higher level and would like to expand your knowledge of music theory."

"As Jim states on his bio, he teaches from age 8 and up. I'm one of his "up" students who's been playing guitar for a few years, but never took time to learn theory because I thought it was too confusing or difficult to learn. After being stuck in a rut for the past 30 years, I finally realized that I could be a guitar player, instead of just playing guitar, by understanding WHY I'm playing what I playing. I planned to take a few lessons to see how it would go. That was 4 months ago. Now when I pick up my guitar, I have a plan and am excited to learn more each week. Jim's approach to teaching theory makes it clear for anyone of any age or expertise. If you're young and want to learn the right way, Jim will teach you the right way. For us older folks, I found out you CAN teach an old dog new tricks... I highly recommend Jimmy!"

"AMAZING!

I met Dave in my music theory class at Ex'pression college. He's the reason why I'm making music today. I went from not knowing a thing about music theory or a piano to creating chord progressions, understanding modes, intervals, modal interchange, and how to read sheet music. He's extremely patient, professional, and easy to get along with. His passion for music and teaching is infectious, I highly recommend!!!"

"Ahmad is very energetic and passionate about guitar and teaching guitar to people. He is very organized and systematic in his teaching. His style of teaching enables students to learn and get to know a wide variety of guitar aspects very quickly. He breaks up lessons into short but consumable modules while at the same time giving something concrete to start playing and get going from the word go whether you are a beginner or not. I've been going to him for several months now and would highly recommend Ahmad for his guitar teaching skills!"

How to Change the Key of a Song With and Without a Computer

What Does it Mean to Change a Key? To change a song’s “key” means to shift the whole musical system to a higher or lower position. This process is called “transposition.” Performers often need transpose a song to better fit their voices. That way, a performer with a naturally lower singing voice (like myself) will be able to more comfortably sing a song that was originally written for someone with a naturally higher voice. Or vice versa.  For singers, transposition feels fairly …

Music Student Face-Off: Memorizers vs. Readers | Which is Better?

As you learn songs and work through your music books, do you memorize the notes? Or do you read along every time you play? In this post, music teacher Vanessa G. discusses the pros and cons to the approaches...   Imagine your teacher gives you a piece of music to study. What's your process? Do you listen to a recording, memorizing the melody and the stylistic aspects before you begin, and then as you play? Or would you sit down and sight read the notes, and perfect it from that star …

Why You Should Learn (At Least a Little) Music Theory

One of the most common weaknesses for amateur musicians is a lack of music theory knowledge. Many people assume that learning theory is difficult (it isn’t) that it has no practical purpose (it does), or even that it will actively make them worse at making music (quite the opposite). I’m here to convince you that learning a little about how music works is one of the most important skills you can develop and should absolutely be part of your daily practice routine. Here are five reasons w …
