I enjoyed working with Adam on reducing my accent. He has an uncanny talent to pick up subtleties in my pronunciation to identify where my accent becomes apparent. He worked iteratively with me to find words, syllable, vowels or consonants that I mispronounce. What makes him a great teacher is that he approaches the pronunciation from many different angles. It's not easy to work on your own accent which is why his witty teachings helps a lot to make every session very enjoyable.

He pinpoints a lot of small things, that overall help tremendously. He has a great ear and picks up on little subtleties in your voice that you can improve, and this causes you to hold yourself accountable to the same standards as a result. Overall, after just one lesson, i have learned a lot and am eager to continue learning with Adam.

Adam was great to work with for my first lesson. He has a lot of experience and gives good tips and advice. I'm looking forward to more lessons with him.

Music Theory is the Core of Understanding how ALL Music works anywhere in the world and applies to all Instruments. It's the insight into why we use certain Notes, Chords, & Scales and what makes them work. To have the knowledge is to be a Musician, which is to Understand that when writing a Song, or Improvising all thinks can work as long as you can make it work. It's the Musician who can figure out why it works so he or she will know where to go or what to play.

Jean-Pierre is a phenomenal piano teacher who really has a true passion for music. He is endlessly patient and persistent - If you want to learn something, he’ll find a way to teach it to you. It's rare to find such a skilled music teacher who can adapt from teaching the smallest fundamental details to the highest philosophical aspects of music. With Jean-Pierre, you are no longer just learning and playing the pieces, you are fully experiencing the music. My lessons with him, and his great sense of humour, were always a highlight. I cannot recommend him enough.

the Impact that Dr C. has had on me as both a musician and a person has been immeasurable. His patience and kindness coupled with his incredible skill have made him an incredible teacher and wonderful person to play alongside whenever he has accompanied me. His drive and desire to always better my playing have made him incredible to learn from and his calming presence has meant that performances with him have always been a pleasure. His personal and caring nature has also made him a wonderful mentor as well as a teacher and he has instilled both confidence within me whenever I play and above all, a deep love for the music that I am playing. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be half the musician I am today if not for Dr C. incredible input!
Alex
Jean-Pierre is truly a unique teacher. His highly personal, practical approach to the teaching of music makes the process of learning both enjoyable and fascinating. His passion for music is evident in his teaching, prioritizing the talents and interests of his students rather than imposing a conventional, one-dimensional syllabus. His skills as a pianist are unparalleled, and my experience playing the cello together with Jean-Pierre (as my accompanist) have been beneficial to my own sound and personality as a musician. Furthermore, as I myself have learnt to play an instrument largely through the use of Skype lessons, I can say with utmost confidence that working with Jean-Pierre through an online medium will both be a worthwhile and enriching experience. Jean-Pierre is by no means a traditional music teacher; rather he is a dedicated and passionate embodiment of what modern music teaching should be!

"Mark is awesome. He has a uniquely designed and patented method to reach reading music quickly. My daughter learned to read all the violin notes with rapidity in two months. Today he had her play a new piece she never saw before by reading the music. The smile on her face when she realized what she had accomplished was priceless."

"I play in a rock band that wanted to add some Sinatra type jazz songs to our repertoire. I was tasked to play bass with which I had very little experience. I decided to take some lessons with Gary to learn a little jazz theory and technique. He was a wonderful teacher. He focused in on exactly what I needed quickly and pointed me toward resources that I could use to improve. Despite my limited abilities, Gary was always patient and displayed good humor. When I needed him to write a bass line for me quickly so that I could take it on vacation, he made the time to make sure that I had what I needed. I enjoyed our lessons and recommend him highly. Gary is a teacher who truly cares about his students."

"Emily has a strong commitment to making sure her students are learning about music while continuing to enjoy what music can bring to their lives. She not only taught me how to read, listen to, and study music, but she taught me why music is important and how I can live it. Emily teaches with grace and poise. She finds a way to relate to students of any ambition or experience. As a high school student looking to still be involved in music in college, Emily was able to find connections in several cities for me because of her numerous experiences of networking in the music world. She has a broad range of musical talents and has the ability to immediately connect with her students. Emily has not only been a great teacher for me, but a great friend."

Music Student Face-Off: Memorizers vs. Readers | Which is Better?

As you learn songs and work through your music books, do you memorize the notes? Or do you read along every time you play? In this post, music teacher Vanessa G. discusses the pros and cons to the approaches...   Imagine your teacher gives you a piece of music to study. What's your process? Do you listen to a recording, memorizing the melody and the stylistic aspects before you begin, and then as you play? Or would you sit down and sight read the notes, and perfect it from that star …
