I have really appreciated Noah's expertise and knowledge to help me make progress. More importantly, however, he is very patient and encouraging which is needed when one is lacking confidence and finding it challenging to learn new skills.
Ryan
Noah is a fantastic instructor. I really appreciated that he balanced an understanding of music/music theory, and getting right into playing to keep you motivated. He’s very respectful, patient, and clearly an expert at what he does. Highly, highly recommend him.

Music Theory is the Core of Understanding how ALL Music works anywhere in the world and applies to all Instruments. It's the insight into why we use certain Notes, Chords, & Scales and what makes them work. To have the knowledge is to be a Musician, which is to Understand that when writing a Song, or Improvising all thinks can work as long as you can make it work. It's the Musician who can figure out why it works so he or she will know where to go or what to play.

As someone who came in with little to no experience playing an instrument, Jimmy was the perfect start for my musical journey. He taught me not only the fundamentals of the bass guitar, but also the fundamentals of music in general, which I can carry with me as I develop as a musician. Highly reccomended.
Rob
Jimmy is a phenomenal teacher. He truly understands what its like to learn guitar, and he builds a foundation to make things come together. He knows what concepts are necessary to master early on, and he has a great way of explaining and simplifying. I learn much better when I understand the "why" of something, and Jimmy can give me the "why's" of all the drills that he has me do. He seems to know why I ask the questions that I ask, which tells me that he has worked through the same questions himself at some point. I highly recommend lessons with him!

20 years I've been including music theory in my lessons and many times giving private lessons just on the subject to Singers, Percussionists and instrumentalists outside of guitar. I have some fantastic sight singing books but I start with your memory, the melodies that have touched you. We explore your personal contact with music to find that you actually know the intervals, the building blocks of music. My understanding of chord function and harmonic colour gets clearly categorized and explained for the student so she/he can use for her/his self to develop a better ear and the right tools to analyze how any song works.

I was a beginner wanting to learn some Brazilian guitar: samba, bossa nova, etc. Billy was great for that as a very accomplished guitarist of that genre. He is very engaging and enthusiastic. He was patient with me in working on the difficult chords and strumming that this type of music requires. Having literally, "written the book", he had an organized approach. I also enjoyed his humor and occasional stories about guitarist he has know. Acho que ele tem Jeito para ensinar violao.

"I studied music theory with Adam because I needed extra help for college classes, and he was a huge help! There were so many concepts that I knew a little about, but Adam helped fill in the gaps of knowledge and familiarized me with the concepts so well, that I could teach them myself! He is patient, humorous, and a complete joy to take lessons from."

Every lesson is packed full of information and he makes sure you totally get and understand the lesson before moving onto the next chapter. I really appreciate that he corrects me whenever I make mistakes especially when it comes to staying on beat while playing the piano with the metronome. Lessons are also never boring with him. His style of teaching enables students to learn and get to know a wide variety of guitar aspects very quickly. He breaks up lessons into short but consumable modules while at the same time giving something concrete to start playing and get going from the word go whether you are a beginner or not. I've been going to him for several months now and would highly recommend Ahmad for his guitar teaching skills!"

"I've been taking lessons with David for more than 2 years, he's amazing... he's very knowledgeable, patient, knows how to explain difficult concepts and can adapt to a broad range of topics, covering different areas that I'm interested on, including music theory, songwriting, guitar and bass, and music production.

David is both a professional musician and an experienced instructor, and you can tell the difference that makes in every class.

We started with at-home classes, but switched to online during the pandemic and that's working pretty good for me to.

I'd recommend David to anyone looking to learn a new instrument, get better at it or expand their music knowledge in general."

How to Change the Key of a Song With and Without a Computer

What Does it Mean to Change a Key? To change a song’s “key” means to shift the whole musical system to a higher or lower position. That way, a performer with a naturally lower singing voice (like myself) will be able to more comfortably sing a song that was originally written for someone with a naturally higher voice. Or vice versa.  For singers, transposition feels fairly …
