I have studied music theory extensively at New York University and have had the honor to have studied with some famous professors there.

About Roseann

I have been teaching piano for almost 40 years. I have a NY state music teachers license, a masters in music therapy from NYU, and a bachelors in Music Education and AFFA certification. I try to keep the student self-motivated by using music that the student likes, as well as covering the basics.

Skillful and professional instructor.

Roseann has a very pleasant personality and makes learning the guitar enjoyable and exciting for my six year old daughter. She gives clear and concise instructions that my daughter can understand and follow on her own while practicing at home. I would highly recommend Roesann to anyone interested in learning the guitar.

Hi, everyone! I'm a graduate from Gnesin Academy of Music, with Master's degree. I acquired my background in Belarus and Russia, countries with rich musical history, traditions and well established musical education. As a concert performer (accordion and piano) I have quite a big experience which I'm trying to incorporate into my teaching practice. It is always a great pleasure to share my passion for music and art in general with anybody interested!

It's been quite a journey in trying to find an accordion teacher and a place that rents accordions. Anyway, I found both. I found Ivan through this website and I have to say that he is great! He always gets back to me via email and he is very supportive and informative in our lessons. I think he has the positive attitude and knowledge that is crucial to being a good music teacher. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

I have studied music theory at the college level and have been writing and composing for over a decade, both alone and in a number of successful bands. I believe in theory as a creative tool rather than simply as an intellectual exercise, and I put strong emphasis on putting knowledge to use.

About Ben

Hi, I'm a lifelong musician and educator with 20+ years of experience writing, recording, performing and improvising across multiple instruments and genres. After years of teaching music on the side, I left my day job as a college history professor in 2018 to devote myself full time to building a c

How to apply theory in all instruments. Song writing and through better technique in each instrument.

About Samantha

Samantha started taking piano lessons at age 3 from her mother, who was also a music teacher. She played piano continuously through school, and also learned to play clarinet, guitar, flute, trumpet and sax, often playing different instruments in her school's band. She also learned the violin and ce

Wonderful!

Samantha D. is wonderful. My kids play so well for only 1 year'sworth of lessons. I would highly recommend her to anyone! I am blownaway by the music that comes out of the Piano from a 7 and 11 year old.My 11 year old signed up for her first music competition at school. Ifyou told me one year ago I would have girls playing a piano, I would notbelieve you. I truly thought they would quit after a couple of months. Not the case. They are musically talented and still love it. Thanks toSamantha D! They are now thriving in the in-school music program.Thank you, TakeLessons, for filtering out the best teachers. When achild has a small window of interest, you have to grab it the rightway...the wrong teacher would not have given me these results.

My granddaughter, Katelynn, enjoys her trumpet lessons with Samantha. Samantha is caring, seems to enjoy teaching & has patience; which is needed since Katelynn needs a little extra attention learning things

Highly Recommend her!

My daughters (10, & 6) have only had three lessons with Samantha! They love it. Her nature is kind and welcoming. She can tell how much they can handle so doesn't overwhelm them with too much theory or pieces to play. She strikes a nice balance. My 10 year old started composing her own song when she became bord with the beginner book! Samantha has added to this excitement and changed her teaching style to match my daughters learning style. My daughter was beaming! Samantha has taught her how to take the next pieces of theory and add it to her song. She also ordered music my daughter enjoys like Selena Gomez. My 6 year old is excited every week and doesn't want to be late. My husband and I thought this would be just another thing to start and quit. So far they are going strong!

I have been learning/ working with Bil for several and have LOVED every minute of it. He encourages you to become the musician YOU want to be and pushes you to find YOUR own unique style. He has taught to believe in myself as a musician and to be the best I can be.

Bil is knowledgeable and encouraging. I’m a beginner piano student, with aspirations of playing jazz. And while I’m not yet playing any jazz standards, Bil has taught me the beauty of extended chords, how to quickly build certain voicing of 7th and 9th chords, and encouraging me not only to play with them, but also to start modifying other songs I’ve already learned with said chords. His love for music theory and composition are evident, and he is eager to share his knowledge with his students at their own pace and level of understanding. For anyone considering Bil, I would encourage you to take a lesson with him and experience his easygoing yet focused teaching style.

From basic diatonic harmony to jazz chord scales, modal interchange, three tonic systems etc.

My approach to lessons revolves around the students musical preferences. I like to show how theory applies to the things you listen to everyday, and show you how music is a language.

Miles was an amazing teacher for me and my son. We both took Piano and Guitar lessons with Miles for close to 2 years and enjoyed every lesson. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to music, can help you focus on the music you want to play and he is just as good with adults as he is with kids! I would highly recommend taking lessons with him and I think he is an amazing teacher

How to Change the Key of a Song With and Without a Computer

What Does it Mean to Change a Key? To change a song’s “key” means to shift the whole musical system to a higher or lower position. This process is called “transposition.” Performers often need transpose a song to better fit their voices. That way, a performer with a naturally lower singing voice (like myself) will be able to more comfortably sing a song that was originally written for someone with a naturally higher voice. Or vice versa.  For singers, transposition feels fairly …

Why You Should Learn (At Least a Little) Music Theory

One of the most common weaknesses for amateur musicians is a lack of music theory knowledge. Many people assume that learning theory is difficult (it isn’t) that it has no practical purpose (it does), or even that it will actively make them worse at making music (quite the opposite). I’m here to convince you that learning a little about how music works is one of the most important skills you can develop and should absolutely be part of your daily practice routine. Here are five reasons w …
