I have a degree in music, and have taught at three summer camps three music stores and two universities.
I have been teaching guitar since 1990. I teach ages 9 and up, and I aim to tailor lessons to work with your natural strengths and learning style.
I offer note-reading but it is optional. We can study guitar using tablature and chord diagrams. The important thing is to make great music, enjoy the process, play songs you like, make steady progress and become independent.
If I teach you well, eventually you won't need me very much- you'll be able to figure things out on your own,
I started playing guitar when I was 4. I've played classical, rock, a bit of jazz, folk, a little bluegrass, and fingerstyle. I love the guitar and I love teaching!

Playing for my own enjoyment is now enjoyable once again.
My lessons were online and very effective - when I got stuck, Carla would send me a sample audio clip of her playing the difficult part which was a godsend for me in how I learn new musical things.
I highly recommend Carla and her Carlalology method of guitar teaching. You won't be disappointed.

Whether you are new to music and have chosen Guitar as your first instrument or you are a seasoned vet with hundreds of gigs under your belt, simplicity is key!
While I have spend over two decades learning the rules of music and twisting my brain around Jazz Harmony and complex rhythmic patterns, I have come to realize one truth: MUSIC IS SIMPLE! There are seven notes in a key; keep the notes far enough apart so they don't fight with each other; learn to count to four. Oh, and own an instrument that stays in tune.
While that may seem like an over-simplification, it is not! I have a very methodical process that I have been honing since I started teaching Full-time at The School of Rock in Downingtown, Pennsylvania (now a nationwide franchise) in 2005.
Students are asked to pick a few of their favorite songs to learn. Using their material and few other musical examples chosen by me, students are taught the basics of Standartd Notation, Tablature, chord and scale diagrams, ...
