I have been teaching professionally for the past six years. As a student who struggled myself in nearly every aspect of education, I understand the importance of individualized learning. As a teacher and performer, I look to find relationships between the emotional and intellectual facets of music. By doing this, I try to uncover the mystery of violin playing, allowing my students to gain an understanding that will last with them forever.

Every single student posseses the potential to fulfill his or her violinistic dreams. I cater my teaching around the goals of each student, while still instilling a high artistic integrity.

Though I center each lesson around building a superior technical foundation, duet playing, the theory of harmony, and aural skills are integral parts of my teaching. I strive for my students to develope a beautiful, in-tune, pure sound that can directly connect to their own emotional palette.

I have a personal approach to each student. I believe that everyone is different so the job of the instructor is to figure out what works for a particular student and how to present it best for faster, better understanding. I also believe that a good teacher is one that not only teaches the violin but plays it actively, professionally.

Since 2011, I've had the joy of teaching students how to play the violin to the best of their ability. From six year olds just starting out to adults in their 80s who want to learn just for fun, I've successfully taught the skills and techniques to make music on this beautiful instrument.

With a gentle, patient approach, I custom-tailor each lesson to the student's goals, interests, and abilities. Within that framework, I place an emphasis on proper position, technique and intonation. To provide a thorough and well-rounded music education, I also teach note reading, music theory, and ear-training. I do everything I can to make learning fun and engaging -- often using games, flashcards, and interactive exercises to teach certain concepts, especially for younger players. In teaching lessons, it is my great pleasure to share with students of all ages and skill levels the knowledge that I've gained over 27 years of playing. I firmly believe that anyone can learn anything at any time, given the proper tools!

In our first lesson, we will determine your musical goals and create a realistic path to achieving them. It's my job to help you along this path while keeping things fun.

To maintain focus and week-to-week continuity, I always provide lesson notes to take home. I can also provide recordings of lessons and transcriptions of pieces, if desired.
