About Farobag
Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.

Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

Mr. Cooper is an experienced teacher. He teaches piano, violin & vocal from basic to advance level. My son has been taking piano classes from him for the past 3+ years. He loves to go to Mr. Cooper's classes. The foremost quality in Mr. Cooper is that he seeks perfection and tries to imbibe the same in his students. He encourages all his students to perform their best and is extremely patient in dealing with his students. Mr. Cooper lets me sit in my son's lessons and I got my 101 on classical music with these sessons. I can appreciate what my son plays and also now able to appreciate classical music in general.
Mr. Cooper encourages all his students to participate in IMA annual contests and puts a lot of effort in preparing his students for the same.

Mr. Copper is one of the best teachers that I know. I am a slow learner and he would teach me things over and over again until I understand. Overall, he is a great teacher and I would recommend him if you need help on math.

I decided to start singing lessons with Mr. Cooper about a year ago and I'm very pleased with the Service. I believe Mr. Cooper is a very gifted musician and singer who has a real ability to understand music and teach that understanding in a relatable way. I'm just beginning to learn about different musical concepts that really help me understand how to learn more effectively. I appreciate everything he's helped me with and plan to continue learning as much as possible.

I live in Shakopee, MN and I've been teaching for five years now. I made a little music studio in my home, that's where I teach most of my students. I have a couple of music stands, and I have my own instruments (violin, viola). I will be able to teach in Shakopee, and in Victoria. Hi, my name is Anna. As an orphan, I grew up in Hungary in a foster home. At a very young age I was already exposed to music. It kind of blew me away. I didn't know how something could be so beautiful, and it was like a miracle for me. Then and there, I knew that something special was waiting for me ahead. When I was 3, I didn't talk for a long time, but I did do one thing: sing. At that point my life has totally changed. I began my long journey. My foster parents got me into a music school, called Janos Patzay Music School. I knew immediately what I wanted to be. I built my whole life on music. It always filled up a very special place in my heart, it still does, and it always will. I started to learn the violin when I was 5 years old. Being in a music environment always gave me strength, made me feel safe, and made me stronger as a perso
n. I decided to learn more, and to grow, I must never give up on my dreams. After elementary school, in 1998, I went to Bela Bartok Music High School, and graduated in 2002. I continued studying music at the University of Miskolc Bela Bartok Institute of Music trough 2004-2008. Those four years were some of the best years of my life. In college, I changed my major to viola instead of violin. I am never going to forget the day of my diploma concert (April 27,2008, Sunday). It was wonderful. All the hard work and studying got me here to this point. I had no family being there for me all these years, nothing really, only God and music. Knowing the fact what I wanted kept me going in the hard times. In 2003, I met with a pastor from the United States who were on a mission trip in Hungary, in the orphanage I lived. Nothing can describe it, not even words what we had. I felt like I always knew her. I used to say I was born in a wrong place in a wrong time. After my diploma concert she and her husband adopted me. Today I am able to say that I have a family, a real family with true love. So, I came here to study English (ESL) at the University of Minnesota for a year and a half. Not having time for me to practice and not have music around me for a little over than a year, it made me really sad. I was depressed, and I thought I am going to get crazy. Music was totally cut out from my life. In 2009, I finally had my music back. I was enrolled in Crown College for 2 years. I attended the school's chamber orchestra and quartet, and I also attended other classes as well ( English, drawing, painting, and piano). I have been in different chamber groups through all of my schools (duet, trio, quartet, symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra). I also studied how to teach violin ( teaching techniques) for four years in college. I observed teaching methods at the Beni Egressy Music School once every week. In my fourth year of college, I was also teaching little ones, and after my diploma concert I also had to do a diploma teaching.

I am really patient with my students, while helping them master new songs and techniques. I understand that every student learns in a different way that is unique to them, and I will do my best to discover each student's learning style. I do not ask for perfection, but I do drive them to do their best.This is my motto: "Do the best you can", and "Be the best you can be".
I am a classically trained musician, and I believe that it's really important to have a strong foundation of learning the basics: reading notes, rhythms, a little bit of music theory etc. Everything else builds on this, for example, like learning and playing different styles or genres in music. You have to know the basics in order to be able to play them.
In each lesson, I will have assignments for the students to work on throughout the week: 1 song for 30 minute lesson, 1-2 songs for 45 minute lesson, 2-3 songs for an hour lesson, and I will always ask for a specific scale at the beginning of every lesson. How fast or slow we can move forward, and how much we can learn it's really depends on the students. These assignments will be showed first (I'll play it to the student), then we work on them together. I'll make sure they understand what I am showing and telling them before leaving. I will also have technique exercises, and music theory sheets for students.
I take practice very seriously. The amount of time I recommend is varies according to the student's age and skill level.
Students will have a recital once a year. They will show what they have learned through the year. I also encourage students to share their talent in community and school talent shows, at church, at family gatherings, and for friends.
Note: I do have cats in my home. If you or your child has a problem with cat allergies, I can teach in Victoria, give lessons in our church.

Anna has a wonderful rapport with our son. This, I'm certain, has greatly improved the quality of the lesson and his willingness to practice. In the very short time (year and a half) that he's been taking violin, he is playing better than many of the longer studied kids in his string orchestra at school, due to the tutelage of Anna.

For my tutoring sessions I use skills that include goal-directedness, I teach how to organize learning in small steps and how to set them up; I always strive to motivate and engage my students to make the learning interesting and fun; I also use self-control skills to teach how to avoid distractions and I use different focusing strategies. I use positive mind set skills to teach how to use failures as a learning opportunities.

I have a Master's Degree (2012) in teaching English to speakers of other languages, and Bachelors in Music Education (2010), both from Florida Atlantic University, as well as degree in violin performance from Poland.
I studied piano in Poland for 10 years & taught both piano & violin for over 20 years. I also teach flute & cello for the past 5 years, as I studied them during my Music Education program.

I
teach music for over 24 years using the traditional and Suzuki methods. I am a fan of the Essential Elements 2000 for string instruments, and the Alfred's Piano Library for piano. Alfred's piano library can be used for any age as they also have books especially made for adult learners. I also like their music flash cards.
For teaching music theory I mostly used Master Theory.

I personalize every lesson, and always set goals for my students. Most of my violin students are members of the Florida Youth Orchestra as well as Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and my piano students participate in Pompano Beach competition and the annual Piano Guild auditions.
I teach any age and any level, and always stress that learning a new instrument is very similar to learning a new language, it needs a lot of patience, persistence and repetitions. My lessons are customized to my students needs, and are work in progress as they needs may change over time. I always remind my students that music can give them instant gratification when they learn to play favorite songs.
I always encourage my students to tell me about their music preferences, so I can incorporate them in their music lessons.

All my tutoring sessions include reviews of previously learned material and if possible the use of technology. I use students books but often bring extra study materials if necessary.
All my lessons include: technique: I like to use the Finger Power for piano students and Essential Elements for my string students, and scales for both.
music theory: I use Master Theory or other books such as Hal Leonard's Piano Note spellers & Piano Music Theory books for younger ages, music flash cards to support learning notes and musical terminology, and of course the fun part performance.

Besides Essential Elements 2000 for strings I also use String Tunes and Fiddle Runners to add more fun to the lessons. For piano students I use Holiday Treats book, which comes in 2 different levels: Beginner & Intermediate, so my students have a new songs for a specific holiday.

The students needs to have their books and assigned material ready for tutoring. Instrumental students needs to have their music books & instrument available as well as a pencil. I always stress with my students to be organized and prepared for their lesson, this way they will be able to focus better during the lesson. I bring my violin with me. I also ask that the room where the lesson takes place to be free of any distractions, such other siblings or any other noise. The quiet environment helps in faster learning.

My name is Erin. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music, with a concentration in Violin. I began studying violin at the age of six. I have performed with small chamber ensembles, orchestras, quartets, and trios. I enjoy playing for churches and weddings, and love teaching.

I began teaching beginner to advanced Violin and Viola in April of 2001 in NC. I moved to California in the fall of 2008. Since moving to California I have extended my teaching to beginner Piano and Cello also. I have taught students ages 3 to 87 how to play and enjoy music on a personal level. My experience includes leading sectionals for middle school orchestra, organizing and instructing small ensembles, and organizing student recitals. Student recitals I arranged once or twice a year to showcase the
students' growth and abilities, and to provide an opportunity to give back to family and friends whose sacrifices and support enable the students to succeed.

I teach because I love music and I believe God has given me a gift. Playing and teaching help me to use my talent for His glory. I love working with people and I love how music enables people of all ages to open up and express themselves in a positive way, no matter what life throws their way. I believe music teaches discipline, builds self esteem; helps set and achieve goals; and positively affects and enhances other curricular endeavors.

My teaching philosophy is to always have fun while learning, to set attainable goals for the student, to learn through encouragement and discipline, and to help students come to love music on a personal level. I focus on the character of each student and their goals and desires to see that the student and/or parents are satisfied. Teaching is a privilege for me that I do not take for granted.

I offer half hour, forty-five minute, sixty minute lessons, or longer on a weekly basis, but I do Not offer bi-weekly lessons. My lessons begin with the fundamentals of music. I believe a firm foundation in rhythm and reading is important because a student may switch musical instruments one day and the basics are universal and necessary. I have a deep love and appreciation for music which I hope to instill in my students as well. I am strict in the sense that I like students to polish their pieces before moving on. I like to keep them focused on playing well, not just playing.

A typical lesson will begin with scales to warm up, a review of the previous week's material, and a new assignment. Students will memorize pieces, be proficient in scales and rhythms, and all the while laughing and having a great time. I am known with my students for my creative analogies and flexibility to try new things in order to adapt to the students strengths and weaknesses. My students look forward to coming to their lesson, and that is very rewarding as a teacher.

I primarily use the Suzuki method for Violin and Viola, because it offers progressive steps to mastering technique, style, and musicality. My curriculum includes the use of Winning Rhythms, Wohlfahrt studies, All for Strings Theory, Essentials for Strings, and many more beginner and advanced studies; including shifting and double stops.

I have been studying violin for 17 years. I received two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music and Psychology in 2013 from the University of Denver. In 2016 I added to my education with Graduate Certificates in the Suzuki Technique and the Alexander Technique. During my education I was fortunate enough to study violin with Jerilyn Jorgensen, Brad Watson, Carlo Feige, Roberto Andreoni, and Simone Fontenelli. From 2009-2016 I had the honor of performing in the Lamont Symphony Orchestra.

My daughter has been taking violin lessons from Nicole for almost 2 years. I appreciate Nicole's patience, the variety of techniques she uses to ensure proper posture, bow grip, etc; and the fact that the lessons are tailored to each individual student and their musical interests and habits. We will miss her when she moves out of the Denver area!

I started playing Violin at age five which lead me to study a bachelor of performing arts at WAAPA, Australia.

From there my music has taken me all around the world, playing in Orchestras in Australia, Europe and now America. The US government granted me an extraordinary ability visa in music, recognizing me as one of the best performers from my home country which allows me to teach and perform music in America.

I love passing on my knowledge to new students to help them grow as musicians, nothing is more satisfying to see someone learn how to play an instrument and watch them really enjoy the process.

I started my musical career at the age of 2, on the piano, shortly afterwards moving to the violin, and the viola. Earning the music scholarship at school for best classical musician, and later on the scholarship for best orchestral instrumentalist at the world renowned music conservatoire WAAPA (West Australia Academy of Performing Arts). Earning my first diploma (A.Mus.A) at age 14, my music has taken me all around the world. I've played such places as the Australian High Commission, Rheingoldhalle in Mannhein, Dvorak hall in Prague, Australian embassy in London, Disneyland in Paris, and the opening the Australian embassy in Berlin, all before the age of 18.

Most recently through my many musical endeavors, I have been granted a visa of extraordinary ability as musician to enter the United States.

Since then I have lead the LADSO
viola section, played with the West LA Symphony Orchestra, played alongside Laryn Hill, a show presented by Quincy Jones, played in movie orchestras, recorded for studio sessions, performed electronic violin for private parties and nightclubs across the US.

I have been teaching music since age 11. My mother is a concert pianist and I started off by teaching her students the violin. I have taught ever since and I love it. I have studied in Australia, Europe and the US.

Vivian Wang has been teaching violin and viola privately since 2001. Since coming to America in 2008, she has built up studios in San Gabriel and Diamond Bar/Chino Hills. My very first official music instruction was the violin. I began violin in third grade and loved my music teacher (we're still friends!). I played violin in elementary school through 8th grade and switched to cello in high school, although I tried my best to keep in touch with it as I grew. In college I observed violin master classes in both performance and Alexander Technique, and I after I graduated, I started practicing and taking lessons again, using what I learned from my friends and faculty at the conservatory. I can teach up to Suzuki level 4.

Hello, students and parents!!!

My name is Michelle, and I'm an "older student" at the internationally renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. For years I was a professional, full-time cellist and music teacher in Southern California.

I have had the opportunity to do so many cool things with music over the years! I get to travel to other states, play in beautiful places like Carnegie Hall, give lectures at music schools, play in music videos with famous rock bands, even record for video games like League of Legends, and cues in prime time television! Wow, how lucky am I? It all seems surreal. How did I get to do all of those cool things?

It's because I had so many awesome, loving, caring mentors who were there for me all of those times I got down on myself and felt like giving up. Those moments on the road to fulfillment ar
e huge stepping stones, moments I will never forget and always have to lean on when I am filled with doubt. The power of an encouraging word of a mentor is priceless, and I believe the blessings I have are a testament to the presence of compassionate mentors in my life.

I've been teaching music for almost ten years, reaching hundreds of brilliant kids since I started teaching. I've always tried to be for my students like those mentors who were there for me.

My teaching philosophy is centered around fostering a connection between music and happiness. The necessarily includes loads of encouragement, fun, the occasional happy dance, discovering musical intuition (basic improvisation and listening), a holistic knowledge of music (basic theory and history), anxiety management, and life-long lessons about the value of concentration and hard work. I believe in getting to know my students personally, and usually take some time out of every lesson to catch up on my students' lives. This may seem like a waste of time, but in fact is extremely important for the student to feel as though they belong in my studio and, in a broader sense, the world of music.

My 9-year-old son has been taking cello lessons from Michelle for the past 1.5 months or so. I find her to be an excellent teacher. Michelle shows a genuine interest in my son, asking him about how he's doing and has the excellent ability to break down complex musical concepts into small, teachable increments. Not all teachers can do this and Michelle does it very well! She is encouraging and never demeaning, but is careful to point out weaknesses and models how to improve. She keeps the lesson going and packs much into 30 minutes. Her rewards program for younger students is highly motivating for my son! I have a BA in Music myself, and would highly recommend Michelle!

Michelle is a great teacher. I just feel I can make progress and really can learn from her class. Even though it is just my second class with her, but i love to have her classes. I can feel that every class she has some plan and know what kind of information should be covered by the class. Even though I am adult beginner, she treats me seriously to really teach me something. And every small thing, she will explain to me and make sure i can understand. It is very important because even though i am an adult, i am still the beginner and know nothing about cello. i love her class a lot and think i can really keep learning with her. BTW, her class is also very interesting and i can feel that she is a very experienced cello teacher.

My experience with this teacher is that he is fun and helps me a lot. He helps on working how to sight read and play different types of music. He also helps any type of music your having trouble with whether it's an orchestra music or other music you want to learn. He also is a fun teacher to play with and to talk.

Having many years of experience in performance and having reached a very high level of playing for myself, I am confident in my ability to teach students a beginning to an advanced level.
For younger students, I would insist that the parents are present and active in the learning process. This is paramount for realizing your child's potential. Playing instruments, stringed instruments in particular, is a very meticulous affair.
If possible, I prefer to teach for an hour at a time. I will likely be spending a lot of time on technique. This is an area in which most are deficient, and will greatly limit the player's expressive capabilities.
I am demanding and very thorough, but also seek to temper this with encouragement on whatever the student is doing well. There are always things we are improving on as well as lacking in. We must hold ourselves to a very high standard while also realizing that we have come a long way from where we started.

I have been teaching since I was in my Master's program. Mostly, I taught with an inner city outreach in Kansas City. I had three students who were doing quite well. I gave supplementary lessons to a couple of other local high school students, both of whom were playing at a very advanced level. I guided them with their preparation and practicing process, as well as helped them when they were making audition recordings for music schools in university. One of them is at the Jacobs School at Indiana University, and the other is studying at my alma mater, the Cleveland Institute of Music.
I also had a private student who I would teach for two hours a week who drove up from Arkansas. She was half-way through high school. I worked with her on Mozart's Violin Concerto no. 5, and she won second place in her youth orchestra's concerto competition.
