About Rich
Music has always been my biggest passion. I started playing guitar at the age of 10, and I haven't been able to put it down since. In grade school I started my first gigs playing in bands and spent all of my time outside of school playing guitar.

Coming from a family of eight where there wasn't much money for schooling, I put myself through high school and college gigging, and teaching.

I earned a music degree from Wayne State University in performance guitar, studying under the likes of Joe Fava and Charles Postlewate. At the same time playing extensive clubwork, shows, concerts, studio work and teaching.

My styles include virtually all elements of guitar. Rock, Blues, Metal, Country, Classical and Jazz.

In "2006", I opened up a guitar studio in South Lyon Mi, where I taught, along with lessons from my home.

*** Lesson D
etails ***
I take a very serious, professional approach to my music studies and my teaching, but with a very humorous, and free-flowing concept to keep my students interested. I am very patient, and truly care about the progress of each student.

Each student that I teach has a different lesson structure depending on what the student wishes to accomplish. I tailor each lesson to help them move closer at a rapid pace to whatever style of music they have the strongest interest in. But because guitar is such a diverse instrument with many different established forms of technique, I do advocate developing proficiency in multiple styles of playing.

While I completely approve of learning to play music from TAB which expedites the playing of actual songs, I highly recommend that beginning guitarists learn to read music as you never know what they might end up doing with their knowledge. (Studio work, shows, teaching, or other scenarios where reading music is essential).

Starting to learn any instrument can be a challenge. But with persistence, guidance, and actual progress, learning how to play an instrument can be of the most rewarding experiences, regardless of your age. With my help, you or your child will be able to enjoy the experience of discovering how fulfilling playing can be.

*** Studio Equipment ***
lessons in living room, music stands, acoustic & electric guitars, amps/cables

*** Travel Equipment ***
Will provide a loaner guitar for a lesson if necessary.

*** Specialties ***
All styles - Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Blues, Metal

Look Forward to seeing you!

My name is Ronald S. At the age of 9, I started playing the guitar for my Father's Gospel Group who is a great Gospel D.J. (Big Clyde). Through the years I have taken several guitar courses from several instructors. In the last seven months I have taken instructions from Mr. Christian, I have excelled further and have learned more than all my other adventures.

Micheal's business based environment in an open studio type classroom is a must. In Micheal's unique style of teaching you not only learn to play the guitar, but he also instructs you in song with a spirit of being well satisfied.

As shoppers pass through the store they enjoy the sounds of students playing their guitars following the guidance of Mr. Christian. This also gives his students a chance to perform in front of other people giving them a finer definitions for the art of music. If you are looking for a music instructor, one who focuses in on your difficult areas and searches for improvement to make you the best musician possible in all areas, or if you are just looking to learn and have lots of fun, then Mr. Christian is your contact. Please visit him at one of his jam sessions..

In April of this year, I retained Michael to instruct my 13 year old daughter, Jennifer, in guitar lessons. I was quite impressed with Mr. Michael right from the beginning.

Since I knew nothing about guitars, I had no idea what type of guitar to purchase for Jennifer. Mr. Christian offered on his own time to go with us to help in the purchase of the guitar. He kept in mind what we could afford and the quality of the guitars, it was very reassuring to know that he was looking out for our welfare and to be able trust him.

I am very impressed with the progress Jennifer has made in playing the guitar. She looked forward to her lessons with Mike. She looked forward to her lessons with Mike. He made the lessons interesting and "fun". Mike not only taught her to play the guitar but also how to read music and understand it.

Mike is a very kind, moral, talented young man and I recommend him highly. We are sorry to see him leave, however, our loss is your gain.

I took my first Music Theory course in high school and immediately fell in love with it. I never listened to music the same way again. Just as people who know the rules of a sport seem to have a deep connection when watching it, I feel people with an understanding of the rules of music enjoy it to a higher degree.
It all starts with an introduction to piano and learning how to read pitch and rhythm. Then a trip back in time to study early music and how it evolved into what we hear today.

About David
My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, taught dozens of students at all levels and played regular gigs every weekend. I have been teaching for over fifteen years, and I'm looking to get a few new students.
I teach guitar, piano, bass guitar and even upright bass. If it's a tutor you are looking for I can also teach music theory and appreciation. I have a knack for teaching young people, probably because I was young when I started my musical journey. I've been very successful at inspiring a student's love of music and instilling the patience required to take on the challenge of playing an instrument.
The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I l
ike to begin by letting the student lead.
In addition to learning from you, I intend to present you with new information, to try and broaden your musical tastes and teach you how to be an active listener.

Through the foundation I've gained by the influences of Mel Bay, Hal Leonard, and Suzuki musical instruction methods, I compile my own teaching materials. Using personally constructed guitar lessons, I demonstrate, instruct, and guide the student based on my assessment of their individual needs, skill level, and progress. Lessons are formulated in Modules, and advancement through them is based on the student's personal aptitude, skill level, and practice commitment. Learning is accomplished by ear as well as through essential methods of musical notation (tablature, 5-line staff, rhythmic comprehension). Students are trained to perform written music as well as to write and express the music within themselves.
I'm an encouraging and motivating guitar teacher with a casual relaxed approach. Teaching new guitarists is very rewarding to me. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.

About Scott

Writing and recording my own music has been a hobby for over 30 years.

Music Theory is just like grammar - the grammar of music. Don't let that scare you! Studying at the Mannes School of Music (a conservatory notorious for its very intense Music Theory classes) I have learned great strategies for tackling its difficulty. I will break down complex chordal harmony or counterpoint and give simple steps in order for you to completely understand the material. Or maybe you have no background in Music Theory - that is great too! I can start simply with learning how to reading music. A good foundation is very necessary! :)

I am able to teach Music Theory at 4 locations:
- West 13th Street (Mannes School of Music)
- Your Home
- Online
- Linford Road (My Home) **Winter & Summer ONLY

About Rebecca
Hello! Thank you for coming to view my profile! I am a junior at the Mannes School of Music studying Flute Performance with Judith Mendenhall. I graduated from Great Neck South High School and Manhattan School of Music Precollege. I have had a wide age range of flute students whom I taught how to read music as well as the flute itself. These students then went on to participate in NYSSMA. I have always had a passion for learning and teaching and hope to instill my passion upon you! Don't hesitate to send me any questions you may have!

**The availability drop down is a bit confusing. During the winter and summer, I will be able to teach in/around Great Neck AND in NYC, whereas during the Fall and the Spring I will be living in NYC and ONLY able to teach there. If you have any questions, please send me a message and we can work out our a
vailability through the message system. In the photos section of the profile, I have posted my free hours from August 28th - December 20th. Hopefully this also helps!

When I first looked at a piece of sheet music, I was lost. It was like I was trying to read a foreign language. And in some ways, it is. Once I understood the rules, just like grammar, it became much more clear. I like to start slow and make sure that the fundamentals are there and build on top of that week after week. Having attended the Berklee College of Music, I’ve learned music theory from some of the finest musicians in the world and can share it with you too.

About Darrell
Hello! My name is Darrell. I’m currently a student online at Berklee College of Music where I am studying recording and producing. Additionally, I’ve been playing guitar since I was in second grade. Music to me is the air I breathe and am truly passionate about it. I always aim to make lessons as fun as possible. If we’re not having fun, what’s the point of putting in all the effort?

I can teach students how to play guitar, read sheet music, understand basic music theory, and even the basics of working in Pro Tools.

My primary playing style is rock based, but am willing to adjust based on you’re preferred playing style.

I hope to meet you so that we can get your musical journey started!

I work with my students on developing a musical ear, learning what to listen for, and how to read notes, rhythms and every detail on the page. I will also help with rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic dictation. We will begin with all the intervals, scales, and simple rhythms, and continue to add new information to the mix once the student demonstrates mastery throughout my courses.

About Michael
I am a professional saxophonist with a Master's Degree in saxophone performance and a bass player who has played with many groups of all different genres. I have also played guitar solo and in many group settings throughout the years. I have been teaching private music lessons for 10 years, and even a few workshops including saxophone sectionals for the Westridge Marching Band. Music is a big part of my life, and I love to help educate students of all ages and skill levels on their desired instrument. I offer services teaching saxophone, guitar, electric bass, clarinet, flute, and even music theory lessons.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree at California State University Northridge in 2013 and my Master's degree in the same university in 2015. I now play with a marvelous saxophone quartet, two Rock bands on bass guitar, and a latin/funk g
roup on bass as well. In addition to these live bands, I have been featured on many producer's tracks, and am a producer of original music myself.

I teach from my home in Sherman Oaks and also would be happy to teach online via Skype or FaceTime. I can travel to my students as long as they are within 7 miles away.

Styles I teach: Classical repertoire, jazz, rock, funk, reggae, metal, Latin (Cumbia/Salsa/Merengue/Banda), pop, and others.

Please feel free to write with any questions. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your path to music mastery
