I first met Sam in Brazil a couple of years ago and recently contacted him for online lessons as I was looking to go further in exploring folk guitar techniques. Sam's lessons are the perfect balance for me between technical proficiency and learning new skills in a way that he makes intuitive to follow, and also conceptual approaches to the instrument which have made a big difference in the way I play. A combination of these two factors and Sam's down-to-earth and encouraging energy have made the lessons motivating for me. I always finish the lessons inspired and wanting to play and come up with new ideas! Organisation-wise and on the technical side of things, it's been very straightforward on Zoom. I thoroughly recommend Sam's lessons!

He's an innovative teacher who's very good at enhancing your strengths and going from there. Whether it's songwriting, guitar, or other things, he makes me feel confident about what I'm doing well and then helps improve where I need to improve. He's also very patient and egoless.

With every lesson, my goal is to create a space where students are allowed to be as creative as they want to be. I see the benefit of a student learning not just chords and scales, but also understanding how to put it all together to make music! Whether your ultimate goal is playing your favorite songs at home or performing live -- I can help get you there. In addition, I like to include in my lesson plan tips on performance, songwriting, and recording if the student is interested. Shoot me a message and let's get started! :)

About Kianna

Chicago-based guitarist and producer Kianna Cameron recounts spending every Sunday sitting in the back seat of her parent’s car on the way to church — headphones on — listening to classic rock songs, imagining that she could play every guitar solo that came on. We will go straight into learning chords & Rhythm and how to play those chords "clean" (sounding properly) and in "time" (the musical tempo of music). From there you will learn to play groups of chords one after another and how it will teach you to create your own music and also show you how certain groups of chords you learn to play are in the music you are already listen to. After that we will learn to develop your listening ear to hear a song and how to "play by ear" and read chord charts.

Intermediate: You will learn how to play one chord many different ways on the guitar. This is called "voicings." You will then learn the many voicing of all the guitar chords. You will learn different rhythms, and odd time. You will also learn extended chords and the theory behind them. Know the difference between A6/9 A9 Amaj9? That's what you'll learn. You will learn all the scales and how to solo. Plus Modes and how you can playing them when playing over a chord progression.

"Raymund has taught our 10 year old daughter guitar for the past year. He has been a fantastic teacher during that time.

He is patient with her, very accommodating to schedule changes, very responsive to questions, provides regular and candid feedback and has brought her from no knowledge of the guitar to being able to play full songs of her choosing.

Raymund is very knowledgeable and is able to get her motivated by allowing her to play at her pace and to play the music she enjoys.

I would highly recommend Raymund to anyone wishing to learn how to play the guitar."

"Attentive and great at teaching technique

Gio truly focuses on the student's needs. I've met too many self-absorbed musicians in the past, but Gio really pays attention to details in the student's playing. He is excellent at teaching technique and was the first guitar teacher to help me fix physical problems regarding posture and arm tension. His kind, easy-going manner makes a student comfortable. He has a wealth of musical knowledge to share."
