Baritone David C. completed both his B.M. and M.M. degrees in Voice Performance at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. David went on to complete a Graduate Performance Diploma in Voice at The Boston Conservatory in 2014. This was my first time getting voice lessons and it was a great investment. David is ver patient with you and is very flexible when it comes to the times. A native of Charlotte, NC, Zachary began his musical career as a tuba player and jazz bass guitarist. While attending The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Zachary began singing in various vocal groups on campus and developed his love for the singing voice. With encouragement from the music faculty, Zachary began training as an operatic baritone while at UNC. While attending UNC, Zachary was awarded both the Fischer Scholarship in Voice and the Tony McDowell Voice Scholarship. His singing brought him to Boston in the summer of 2010 to begin study at The Boston Conservatory. While performing various opera roles and attending summer programs, Zachary also opened his private studio and taught at a local music academy.

Baritone Zachary B. is quickly establishing himself as an active operatic performer. Equally at home on the recital stage, his versatile lyric baritone voice fits a wide range of repertoire and styles. A graduate of The Boston Conservatory, Zachary has performed roles like the titular role in Don Giovanni, Ramiro in L'Heure Espagnole, L'horloge comtoise in L'Enfant et les sortileges, Pooh-Bah in The Mikado, and Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief.

Starting in February 2013, Zachary will also be available through TakeLessons for online instruction. Lessons will still focus on energy, breath, and solid technique, so please contact him if you think this venue of instruction will be a good fit!

Regardless of your background, I believe in making lessons fun, encouraging, and accessible. This means that my work with you will, by nature, be incredibly personal and always formulated for your specific musical goals. I will constantly strive to make sure you are comfortable in our work together as we explore singing, speaking, and music theory.

I believe every singing or speaking voice can benefit from a foundation in classical vocal technique. Whether you prefer to learn through singing songs or through various exercises, I can customize our lesson plan to fit your needs. Therefore, I provide a fun and engaging lesson atmosphere, but you need to bring your best as well! We will both be happier with the process if we are equally invested in your growth. We will start with something you already know (an aria, vocal exercise, or excerpt from a song) and work toward singing in your preferred vocal style. For example, classical singers will build their knowledge of English, German, Italian, and French diction and song styles. Additionally, I will always respect and include my student's musical interests.

Along the way, I am happy to address basic music theory ideas. If you prefer, we can also spend additional time reviewing and learning those principles to enrich your musical experience. I will always provide different exercises and ideas to keep your brain active in the singing process.

I believe in whole body, whole spirit singing. As a performer, I employ a variety of holistic exercises and theories to develop my own voice, such as basic Alexander Technique principles, voice therapy techniques, a variety of pedagogical palates, and energy work. If these sorts of things interest you, I am more than happy to incorporate them into our lessons. My personal results with those practices have been incredible, so I am always eager to share.

My personality is outgoing and energetic, so I bring that sort of atmosphere to a lesson. I expect preparedness and readiness on your part to maximize our work together. My greatest desire in teaching is to see you grow! So, if a challenging, yet comforting, work environment sounds like something you would like to try, consider scheduling a trial lesson with me. I prefer for my students to have a keyboard or piano, and if possible, a music stand. We can always make a situation work if the student does not have access to these tools. I provide music, pencils, etc.

My Wife helps me teach in the program and is an adviser for the Female program.

My name is Ronald S. At the age of 9, I started playing the guitar for my Father's Gospel Group who is a great Gospel D.J. (Big Clyde). Through the years I have taken several guitar courses from several instructors. In the last seven months I have taken instructions from Mr. Christian, I have excelled further and have learned more than all my other adventures.

Micheal's business based environment in an open studio type classroom is a must. In Micheal's unique style of teaching you not only learn to play the guitar, but he also instructs you in song with a spirit of being well satisfied.

As shoppers pass through the store they enjoy the sounds of students playing their guitars following the guidance of Mr. Christian. This also gives his students a chance to perform in front of other people giving them a finer definitions for the art of music. In April of this year, I retained Michael to instruct my 13 year old daughter, Jennifer, in guitar lessons. I was quite impressed with Mr. Michael right from the beginning.

Since I knew nothing about guitars, I had no idea what type of guitar to purchase for Jennifer. Mr. Christian offered on his own time to go with us to help in the purchase of the guitar. He kept in mind what we could afford and the quality of the guitars, it was very reassuring to know that he was looking out for our welfare and to be able trust him.

I am very impressed with the progress Jennifer has made in playing the guitar. She looked forward to her lessons with Mike. She looked forward to her lessons with Mike. He made the lessons interesting and "fun". Mike not only taught her to play the guitar but also how to read music and understand it.

Mike is a very kind, moral, talented young man and I recommend him highly. We are sorry to see him leave, however, our loss is your gain.

LESSON DETAILS

Whether you are a parent looking for instruction for your child, or for yourself, Rachel can customize the right program that best suits your needs. Her students come from all walks of life and have different goals, but they all have one thing in common. They love performing and have the desire to be the best at their chosen craft (singing/acting).

Some students want to sing/act for themselves, others want to sing/act for a hobby, and others want to be professional performers. That's where Rachel comes in. No matter what your goals are, she can help. Rachel teaches her students how to become true artists without tearing them down and without taking away the part of them that makes them unique. She teaches healthy technique that is based off of the human anatomy; the science of how the body/mind works and how the body/mind can work as efficiently as possible while singing or acting.

Learning how to sing/act is a process and doesn't happen overnight. Rachel's ultimate goal as a teacher is to not only make her students the best performers and singers they can be, but also give them all of the proper tools they need to have a more productive mind frame and become self-sufficient. Of course this can take years to master. It takes time and dedication.

OTHER LESSON INFORMATION

SINGING: Bel Canto singing technique for the modern singer is taught in private and group classes. No one sounds like old opera singers, even if the student wants to sing opera. Students are allowed to choose most of the material they learn in the lesson. There will be times when Rachel will suggest a song to a student but if the student doesn't enjoy the song, they will work as a team to find a song that does work for the student. Gain a better tone quality, complete control of your voice, bigger range, more flexibility, and confidence. Learn healthy voice technique, how to fully take care of your own voice so you can sing for the rest of your life (even after lessons), and become a self sufficient performer for life.

ACTING: Stella Adler, Stanislavsky, Chekhov, and Meisner Acting Technique for Theatre/Camera is taught in private and group classes. All students are exposed to each technique and Rachel sees which technique each student responds to the most. Once the student and Rachel are able to identify the technique, Rachel continues to use the terminology of that technique for the remainder of the time the student is in lessons. Students eventually are able to play roles truthfully and realistically, even if the roles are opposite of the student's own personality.

BY THE TIME STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM LESSONS:

1. Gain a lifelong, solid, consistent, and healthy technique that they can always count on in practice and performance.

2. Gain specific technical and personal notes in a notebook and/or computer file that is organized and always accessible for review.

3. Gain artistry, performance skills, and a strong voice that will look/sound authentic; Singers will sound appropriate to whatever style of music they are singing. (No fake sound or look.) Actors will just be in the moment and truthful whether they are on stage or in front of the camera.

4. Gain the confidence to always put on a great performance.

5. Gain focus and a more productive mind frame.

6. Become self-sufficient by knowing how to assess a problem and then fix it without creating a new issue.

STUDIO POLICIES-

CANCELLATION:
24 hour lesson cancellation

MISSED LESSONS/MAKE UPS:
If the student needs to miss a lesson for sickness, they or their parent/ guardian, if the student is under 18, must let Rachel know at least 24 hours before their missed lesson. If they need to miss due to an other activity or vacation, they must contact Rachel at least a week from their next scheduled lesson in advance to prevent from forfeiting the lesson. All make ups will be scheduled within 4 weeks from the missed lesson. If rescheduled lesson or make up lesson is missed, no new make up will be given unless Rachel is not able to teach for some rare reason.

LATENESS:
If a student is going to be late they need to contact Rachel as soon as possible, to let her know they will be late. Lessons will end on time unless she is able to extend the lesson due to a late student or her schedule allows for it though please understand, Rachel would be extending a courtesy and would not be obligated to do so. If on the rare occasion Rachel is running late, she will always make up the time.

SITTING IN: Parents/Guardians are ONLY permitted to stay for the first lesson and are NOT permitted to sit in for any other lesson/class unless invited. This is to promote good/strong teacher-student relationship quickly and easily. Also, many times students feel more comfortable when their parents/guardians leave.

Overall, very impressed. She is direct and doesn't tell you something you want to hear. Her evaluation process is well rounded and planned. She puts together a great curriculum to know what to expect in the coming lessons. Very easy going person and makes you feel completely comfortable at the initial lessons.

I have had many masterclasses with professors at UNCC and UNCP on music performance, and have performed for members of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. About Joseph
Joseph Rincón has been honing his abilities on the guitar for over eighteen years and has performed extensively throughout the United States and in Spain. He earned his B.M. in Performance degree from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as receiving a formal recognition as “Outstanding Performer” by the faculty of the department of music. He also received two additional recognition and scholarships from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke for his exceptional skill in music performance.

In 2017, he completed the Máster en Interpretación de Guitarra Clásica program at the Universitat d'Alacant, in Alicante, Spain. During his time in Spain, he studied closely with world-renowned guitarists such as Manuel Barrueco, Xavier Díaz-Latorre, Pepe Romero, Fabio Zanon, and Grammy-Award winning guitarist David Russell.


Over the years, he has been recognized for his outstanding musicality and his passionate performances. His guitar playing and musicianship has been described as “a combination of deep and moving musical ideas with beautiful sound and refined technique”. His performances are energetic and highly expressive, whether he is performing for a large audience or a small and intimate gathering.

In addition to frequently performing in the Charlotte, Lake Norman, and surrounding areas, he is also an inspired music teacher. Chicago based freelance saxophonist Corbin A. is a dynamic youthful voice amongst the Second City music scene.  Originally from Decatur, IL, Corbin moved to Chicago in 2007 to attend DePaul University.  There he studied improvisation privately with Mark Colby, Bob Palmieri, Ron Perrillo, and Kelly Sill, as well as composition with Tom Matta.  These led to performances with Jeff Hamilton, Phil Woods, Tim Ries, Ira Sullivan, Jimmy Heath, John Fedchock, and Randy Brecker. After achieving his bachelor of music in 2011, Corbin was accepted to pursue a Master’s degree in Jazz Composition from DePaul.
As a bandleader, Corbin just recorded his debut album “Accidently On Purpose” which released on January 1st 2013.  This group performs throughout the Chicago area in venues such as Andy’s Jazz Club, Martyr’s, the Drake Hotel, and Lilly’s.  As a si
deman, he performs with a slew of different ensembles including Bumpus, Greg Duncan’s Latin Ensemble, M13, Joe Clark Big Band, Ryan Adamsons’ Medium Ensemble, Ian Torres Big Band, Nootka Sound, Rich Daniels “City Lights Orchestra”, Billy Wolfe, and The Tommy Dorsey Big Band.
In addition to jazz, Corbin is also active among the funk and rock scene in Chicago.  He travels throughout the U.S. with Chicago funk/soul legend James Johnston and Bumpus.  Through James, Corbin has performed with Syl Johnson, J.C. Brooks and the Uptown Sound, Clip-Art, Terrible Spaceship, Brother Joscephus & the Love Revolution, The Right Now, J-Livi & the Party, Afro-Zep as well as many other studio projects.
Mr. A. is also a very capable doubler on clarinet and flute.  He teaches woodwinds privately from his home studio, as well as at Kagan & Gaines Music.
You can hear him on Corbin A.’s “Accidently On Purpose”, Joe Clark Big Band feat. Jeff Hamilton “LUSH”, Greg Duncan’s “Chicago, Barcelona Connections”, and Ian Torres “January.”  Otherwise, Corbin leads one of the busiest jam sessions in Chicago at Lilly’s every Wednesday night and was recently nominated for the Chicago Music Awards “Jazz Entertainer of the Year.

Hello, and welcome to my page! My philosophy for singing is that a truly great singer is versatile, and that the ideal voice is a flexible instrument that can handle a variety of genres and styles.

My personal training is primarily in classical, and I have a Master's degree in classical voice/opera from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. However, I also actively sing pop, musical theater, and even heavy metal!

Singing can be challenging, and while I work with the student intensely to diagnose and fix vocal issues, it is very important to me that the student feels happy and confident. I encourage students to express their creativity by singing in styles that they feel comfortable with, choosing their own songs, and even adding their own riffs/runs/ornamentations.

I like to place a heavy focus on music theory and sight-singing (I
offer private lessons in these subjects separately as well); It is extremely important for young singers to be able to read the notes on the staff, to understand rhythm and key, and to find pitches on the piano.

I accept beginning-intermediate singers of all ages. I additionally offer music theory, sight-singing, and diction lessons as well as beginner/introductory piano.

My daughter is learning a lot from Sara and so am I. We look forward to the classes as Sara is patient, encouraging, explains everything very well to my daughter and very knowledgeable about vocal training. We feel fortunate to have found her. My daughter who is shy is opening up to her, I can't wait to see where Sara could take her.

Joey has been a great cello teacher. I like the fact that his experience covers a broad range of music. When I want to make an arrangement of a heavy metal song, or I need to learn the nuance of baroque performance, he's there.
He's a working musician so his schedule is somewhat variable, but he is good about communicating and always comes when he says he will. He's personable and enthusiastic.

Gary had his first lesson and got over the jitters of being "the first time" as well as the app which made us nervous "Yes dad especially!" being I was used to old fashion face to face lessons back in the dinasour era.

Jonathan is an excellent instructor. My lessons were scheduled in the evenings and he accommodated my busy work schedule. He presented the lessons clearly; he adapted my lesson to my learning style and never forced me into just 1 style of learning. He also gave me a lesson manual and discussed alternative ways of practicing at home. Joanathan is extremely knowledgeable, I would recommend him to anyone looking to learn violin.

In addition, she taught drumline and front ensemble for three years at Athens Drive High School, Bunker Hill High School, and Eastern Alamance High School.
