I am an adult learner with substantial time commitments, so things do not come to me as easy as they do for younger people. Mr. Blackwell totally understands this and uses a teaching method, that while challenging, it is not overwhelming. He also covers all the bases like sight reading, theory and improvisation, as well as a broad array is different styles of music. I really enjoy my lessons and my playing has greatly improved.

I have two children in lessons with Mr. Luther, and I am actually able to hear his teaching from a different room. I am very impressed with what he's done for both children in such a short time. His personality is wonderful. The kids love him! He's gentle, kind, and so very talented. I look forward to great things happening for my kids. He's definitely found his calling, and it reflects in his teaching! So fortunate to have found him!

I believe it is extremely important to combine a solid technical foundation with a thoughtful approach to musicality. I constantly strive to help students understand the different roles of the cello in musical settings and the incredible versatility of the instrument. I am passionate about teaching and performing alike and am an active cellist throughout the New York City area, recently having completed my masters degree at Manhattan School of Music.

About Jacob
I recently completed my masters in cello performance at Manhattan School of Music. I teach privately throughout the tri-state area and I am also a teacher with the Harmony Program where I teach in larger classroom settings throughout the boroughs. This past February I was a guest artist and teacher at the VerArte String Academy in Arequipa, Peru. I have attended numerous music festivals such as Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA, the Banff Centre in Canada and most recently I was a fellow at the Alba Music Festival in Alba, Italy. I am also passionate about orchestral and chamber music.

As a teacher, I hope to give students a strong technical foundation on the cello while also helping them to understand and appreciate the musical versatility of the instrument. I believe it is extremely important to combine technical and mu
sical skills from the earliest musical studies. I am enthusiastic about teaching students of all ages and varying musical goals.

I am a classically trained musician with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Florida State University. With a total of 19 years of experience - 11 of those years as a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra - I am capable of teaching multiple styles of music to all ages and proficiency levels. Also a multi-instrumentalist, I have the ability to teach other stringed instruments such as the viola, cello, double bass, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele.

About Toni
I am a professional Double Bass player with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Florida State University. As a proficient multi-instrumentalist, I am able to teach all stringed instruments, such as the violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele. With experience coaching and mentoring students who have a passion for songwriting, it has helped them become effective, dynamic, and knowledgeable songwriters.

I teach strings to students of all different ages and proficiency levels. I am a classically trained musician with 19 years experience, with 11 of those years as a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. My competency and versatility as a musician has given me the opportunity to work with children in the public school systems, after school programs, recreational centers, local events, and statewide competitions a
nd conventions.

Every instrument has a unique timbre, so I teach students what their chosen instrument's role is and what it's specific sound is used for. I believe that "practice makes progress," so I encourage each student to practice consistently and efficiently. By applying foundational techniques during practice and performance, it will aid in their continual growth and progress as a musician.

Depending on the goals and preference of the student - no matter the instrument - I highly encourage each of my students to learn to read music/chord sheets, understand and maneuver their instruments fluidly, and challenge themselves to pursue music in any and every way they can.

I firmly believe that learning technique and theoretical knowledge is essential to learning any instrument and any style. Focused practice sessions and learning how to listen actively instead of passively will shape a well-rounded musician, and as the teacher, achieving this with every student is my goal and my passion.

I very much look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

Daniel is a patient and thorough teacher. He provides structured lessons with enough flexibility to address any specific difficulties a student is encountering; either with the lesson material, or material from any activities the student participates in. Personally he has helped with technical bits from music I've played at church as well as music from a youth orchestra I belong to.
