The violin is easily recognizable and very popular. Violin lessons include theory, technique, repertoire, and more. We'll work together to design a lesson plan that works for you and your learning style.

About Gail
I began my musical journey with a recorder at the age of 3, and grew from there. I tried out several instruments, including French horn and piano, before finding the violin, and later the viola.

In 2018, I moved with my family from California to Texas, and found even more of what I love: music! Fort Worth is a music-loving area, and I'm happy to be here.

I began teaching began by accident when my twins entered a TK program. Their teacher asked for help with music - how could I turn down that request? I successfully wrote and taught the music program that I used for K-2 grade students at that school, and now teach violin and viola to beginner through intermediate students, advanced for viola.

I specialize in working with younger children, but love teaching kids of all ages (even adults!).

As a teacher, I am flexible and fun-lo
ving. I believe that music should always be fun, even when it's hard. I help foster a lifetime love of music, and work with him/her to design a custom program just for them.

I'm classically trained, but love all music, especially baroque, renaissance and Celtic styles. Medieval and renaissance music has a special place in my heart because I spent several years playing it as part of a string quartet.

I am available for online lessons all over the world, and I'm happy to record them so you can review them all week long.

*** Lesson Details ***
A typical lesson consists of checking student's progress, addressing any immediate issues, and developing technique/knowledge.

In 3-6 months, your child should be:
* Reading music consistently at a level appropriate to their progress.
* Developing an understanding of rhythm and meter.
* Placing their fingers properly for the most part.
* Developing correct posture and holding their instrument and bow in a relaxed manner that suits their body type and facilitates the freedom of movement required for making great music.

I specialize in working with kids of all ages - from 5 to 95!

Whether you're a beginner looking to explore a new instrument, or a young professional preparing for an orchestral or college audition, I'm eager to share my passion of music and teaching experience with you. Throughout my teaching and performing career, I have been highly successful at helping students bring out the very best they can offer. Many of my students got accepted to study at major universities and music conservatories, and/or earned positions at orchestras or teaching institutions.

I'm strict and have very high expectations, but I was also praised for being encouraging and supportive. I strongly believe in the power of music, and the many benefits of learning a musical instrument.

About Ferenc
Music has been my greatest passion all my life. Originally from the former Yugoslavia (of Hungarian descent), I earned all my degrees in violin performance: a Conservatory Diploma (5 yrs.) from the Franz Liszt Academy (conservatory) of Music in Budapest, Hungary, a Master's Degree from SIU-Carbondale, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison). I've been teaching for 22 years, of which 18 years also as a full-time university professor (formerly Associate Professor of Violin/Viola at the University of Idaho, and Artist-in-Residence at the Universidad Juan N. Corpas in Bogotá, Colombia). Currently I teach at several institutions in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV.

Besides teaching, I've been active as a soloist and chamber musician (mainly piano trio and string quartet) as well as in orchestral playing
(with more than a dozen professional orchestras, including the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Spokane Symphony, Wichita Grand Opera, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra).

My daughter loves Mr Ferenc, he is so kind, patient and thorough, and works with our limited schedule. As a former violin player myself, (albeit 22 years ago) I really appreciate how exacting his standards are for form and posture and I wish my early instructors had been of his caliber.

This teacher has tons of experience teaching youth, and we recommend him highly. My kids just love their lessons, even during the summer months. It is difficult to find a truly caring mentor who doesn't cancel lessons due to other commitments, but this teacher really cares about getting things "done" in his music studio. Very friendly and encouraging.

Much of my methods are derived from my doctoral dissertation studies in the field of Sports Psychology. I apply my teaching methods to develop and increase control of muscular and mental functions, accuracy, precision, discipline, mental awareness and overall coordination in violin performance. I am eager to share my knowledge and experience in sports psychology and to emphasize the general psychological benefits and contribution to human enrichment.

My students earn numerous accolades, such as Concertmaster and title positions in the: Colburn Chamber and Los Angeles Youth Orchestras, Santa Monica High School Chamber Orchestra, Idyllwild Music Festival Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, Interlochen Music Festival, Honor Orchestra of America, and Santa Monica High School Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, Palisades High School Symphony; Grand Prize in the Fifth International Colibri Music Competition, Westside Committee of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Student Scholarships and ...

About Dimitry
My teaching principles are based on outlining the advantageous mental and physical practice techniques revealed through research in Sports Psychology. These methods help my students strategically overcome the numerous psychological obstacles in order to develop a consistently high level of performance.

I share with students my Sports Psychology research that focuses on common triggers for performance anxiety and stage fright. By assessing the students’ performances, I design an applicable daily practice plan which gears to establish better control over the physical and psychological symptoms known to negatively impact performance. Applying these principles also helps in the development of increased control of muscular and mental functions, accuracy, precision, discipline, mental awareness and overall coordination. By incorporating kn
owledge of Sports Psychology in my lessons, I hope to educate about the existing relationship between mental process and physical execution and the impact one has on the other.

For professional athletes and musicians, performing under pressure is an inescapable element of their careers. Given the current levels of performance excellence and the consequent fierceness of competition, consistency in performance quality is indispensible in attaining the degree of professionalism. This implied link between musical and athletic disciplines is a logical one. Similarly to athletes, musicians must achieve high levels of technical skill, efficient movement patterns, acute focus, composure and extreme concentration, all while maintaining a consistently high level of performance.

Musicians ‘play’ music as athletes ‘play’ sports. Therefore, like sports, a musical performance is a physical activity with extreme demands on technical facility, training ethics, discipline, deliberate practice, structure, dedication, determination, motivation and inspiration. Like sports, it is a form of self-expression, performed in front of an audience and demanding astounding mastery of the human mind and body. Both performance practices provide the performer with opportunities for excellence, though the journey may bring forth intense pressures, challenges, anxieties, fears and psychological phobias. Adapting the methods and principles developed by research in sports psychology, affords tremendous advantage in a musician’s constant desire to elevate, not only the quality, but also the consistency of quality in their performance.

I started learning violin from Dr. Dimitry 1 month ago because, unlike other teachers, I found Dr. Dimitry very honest in specifying the subtleties and nuances, especially the snaggy ones which make the violin one of the most challenging instruments to learn. Although his classes were very expensive, I chose him as he was a straightforward and experienced violinist and I never compromise on the quality of teaching. Also, being a doctoral student myself, I know what it means to earn a Ph.D. and that too in music.

Now, it has been one month, and I enjoy his classes. His analogies and examples are an apt way of understanding the techniques of playing the violin. Though Dr. Dimitry is an advanced violinist, he is very patient with absolute beginners. To sum up, I would highly recommend him to people who are very serious and determined to learn and practice the violin.

A true professional and a great teacher! I have been taking violin lessons now for 6 months with Dr. Dimitri Olevsky, having switched to Dimitri after having had a mediocre experience with my previous teacher. Wow…what a difference. Dimitri ably blends his extensive knowledge, talent, and seriousness about his craft with a witty sense of humor. He is able to simplify the complexities of violin technique so that it is truly feels accessible. Highly recommended.

Dr. Olevsky was immediately able to improve my playing with direct, practical advice. He is concerned with efficient practice and in making the maximum amount of progress in the time that one has. He is highly knowledgable about the audition process and the real day to day of being a professional performing violinist. I have been playing for 15+ years and find Dimitry's lessons very challenging and stimulating.

Hands Down the best violin teacher in the Sacramento area! From the flexibility she has with time to the amazing way she teaches. I am a beginner who couldn’t even read music. I told her that was what I was most concerned about. I was able to learn not only to read music but also the background to the music I was learning. To me that was key to learning. About Keri

Wherever you are at in your musical ambitions, Keri will meet you there and help you come up with a realistic game plan that is FUN, exciting, and achievable.

More about Keri...
Keri has loved music for as long as she can remember. She started piano lessons at age 4, and eventually switched to violin at age 8. At 10 years of age, she was accepted as a 1st violinist into the Napa Valley Youth Symphony. She spent the next
eight years honing her craft, learning as much as she could, and had the incredible experience of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the Napa Valley Youth Symphony her Junior year of High School.

While Keri always nerded out listening to Bluegrass and Celtic tunes and learning them by ear (entire albums!) for fun, she practiced multiple hours every day studying classical technique and started composing and arranging her own pieces of music in high school.

Keri received her B.M. in Jazz Studies from Sonoma State University in 2015, and graduated with Distinction. Her musical goals have been centered around being diverse, open-minded, and adaptable, which has helped her cross many genres, play as a guest in several local bands, and adapting her style to whatever was necessary in the moment.

Keri received a Telly Award in 2015 for playing violin and singing the music on a Toyota Commercial, spent six years in the band "Anadel" as the violinist, background vocalist, and writer/arranger (releasing three albums), and eventually started composing music alongside a team of five other composers for TellTale Games: The Walking Dead. She also composed music for a few TellTale Games trailers, including one for "The Wolf Among Us". Keri has been featured on numerous albums (as player, producer, and arranger), and is currently spending her time writing and producing her first solo album, set to release in January 2020.

My name is Michael Nebeker, and I love the violin. I started playing nearly twenty years ago, and have been lucky enough to teach for the last ten. Here, I hope to let prospective and current students know more about me, ensembles I work with, and all things teaching.

Selecting a private teacher is a big decision, so take your time, explore my page, and see if I am a good fit. Here I am, at a glance:

-Everyone is welcome in my studio, regardless of age or ability. I teach both child and adult students.

-I studied at the University of Utah With Leonard Braus, John England, and Kasia Sokhol-Borup.

-I play with a number of ensembles in the Salt Lake valley from large scale symphony orchestras to small chamber ensembles and rock groups.

-Mindfulness is a core principal in my studio.

-Students play music THEY want to play, and are not required to subscribe to any methodology.

-Lessons with me are both comprehensive and tailored to the specific needs and goals of each student.

About Michael
Thank you for visiting my profile! My name is Michael Nebeker, and I have been playing for nearly twenty years, with ten years private teaching experience. I love playing and teaching violin more than anything, and am so grateful to have the chance to share my passion with you.

The violin is a true exploration of the connection between heart, mind, and body. The heart feels something that it wants to express musically. The brain then gives complex instructions for the body to execute actions for the goal of satisfying the heart. With mindfulness, or awareness, we deepen this exploration of the heart, mind, body connection, and are able to feel the interdependence of each. We begin to see that each minute detail while playing the violin counts, and begin to train our minds to approach the violin slowly, critically, and with compassion.
My lessons incorporate elements of mindfulness to help students feel where tension occurs while playing, and to teach them the compassion to invite that tension to relax.

Once we have cultivated this awareness, and have implemented it in our technique, we are free to explore the music that makes us come to life. I ensure that students are playing what THEY want to play. I offer suggestions, but do not require students to play music that doesn't inspire them.

Violin Notes: How to Read & Play Sheet Music for Beginners
The most valuable skill you can develop as a musician is learning to read music. While it’s possible to learn to play “by ear,” reading music opens up the world to you as an artist! There are many different ways to write music. Guitarists often read off of charts outlining the chord progressions for the song. Drummers have a rhythm chart showing them what to play. As a violinist, however, you'll most likely be reading off of violin sheet music. Standard sheet music is filled with direc
