My first lesson with Zach was great! 5 stars. He asked the right questions as to what aI am looking to do. And we quickly came up with a lesson plan that with the right amount of work in my part will get me headed in the right direction. Zach does a great job of making his students feel comfortable and good about their abilities.

Melodies in your head and a song in your heart, but your voice isn't so great, or maybe it is. I can teach your to connect the physicality and express yourself with a Violin or Viola. (soprano or Alto). The tough part is learning hold to hold the violin properly. It takes a couple months to train the muscles a new stance. With my help your posture and breathing will become as one with the music It's not a myth, the violin is the most complex instrument to learn.

Comprehensive program with ear training and reading music.

Raycurt is not only knowledgeable, he is extremely skilled. He is thorough and maximizes time by providing superb instruction. My son looks forward to attending his classes; and I am a parent who is beyond pleased with Raycurt’s level of expertise.
Ben E.
This was a really unfortunate and wasted experience. Raycurt was wildly unprepared to teach. He brought a broken metronome and almost no sheet music/lesson plan. I had spoken both to the sales rep and Raycurt himself prior to the lesson and he was still fully unprepared.

I also explained my level of experience and was assured Raycurt was qualified to teach at the level I needed, but he came off as less knowledgable than me, which was particularly disappointing.

Worst of all, after multiple hours of speaking on the phone, I couldn't get my money back for this lesson.

I'd strongly recommend not using takelessons at all, they've put a horrible taste in my mouth for their entire service.

Learning to play the violin doesn't have to be a task. I believe conquering a musical instrument is as much about love as it is dedication. I wouldn't be where I am today without the love and support of my teachers throughout the years. With my teaching, I intend to instill great technical facility as well as a love and respect for the instrument. (Students must provide their own violin)

I use the Suzuki Violin Method and the ABCs of Violin Method, but am willing to work with other method books as well. I have developed extensive supplemental resources that I'll use with any curriculum.

I also work with orchestra/band students to help them succeed, usually taking a break from the method books to focus on that season's music.

I can prepare you for contests and auditions, help you work in a small or large ensemble, grow you as a soloist, or help you learn a new style.

Beginning students will gain a solid grasp of all the "essentials": basic theory, sight reading skills, counting, and technique. As soon as you have these, you have a lot of freedom with what you want to work on!

I take kids, adults, and teens. I have experience teaching kids with disabilities including Down's syndrome, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and more.

Whether you are a complete beginner or a more advanced student looking to improve your skills and musicality, I can help you wherever you're at! I have been teaching violin since 2008 and have both my bachelor's and master's degrees in violin performance. I stress a strong technical foundation in all my students through correct posture and relaxation while playing. I grew up in the Suzuki method and have been trained to use it for my beginning and intermediate students. I am a classically trained violinist and teacher, but can teach other genres as well!

About DaNece

I started the violin when I was eight years old and taught my first student when I was 17. As a musician, I love the experience of making music in professional orchestras, chamber groups, and solo playing as much as I love teaching it to students of every age and level. Very clear explanations, and I left the first lesson with good goals and a handful of things to practice. Having the lesson online worked out very well and didn't take away from the experience or efficient use of time at all.

I am an adult beginner in my 30's and was a little nervous about starting my lessons. However, I have to say, great lesson! He really took the time to listen to what I wanted to work on and make recommendations. Then he was able to quickly spot areas for improvement and give corrections that were very relatable and easy to understand. I can't wait to keep working with Daniel.

She had a wonderful repoire with all the students and they respected her kindness. Susanna would be an asset to any company or job she was asked to do."

"Hi, Three of our children took violin lessons with Cara Arnold for 4-5 years. She was an amazing violin teacher. She understood how to tailor her lessons to each individual child and was adept at finding music pieces that were challenging but also fun for the kids to learn. She has an enthusiasm for violin that she shared with our children and was always encouraging to them- but was also able to toe the line or ask for more when needed. I highly recommend her as a violin teacher. She is thoroughly knowledgeable in her subject and has years of experience with all ages. She also completely enjoys her job and it shows."

Just For the Trill of It: 4 Cool Things to Try With the Violin

To the uneducated, the idea of playing the violin might not have the same mass appeal as, say, shredding on an electric guitar or rocking out on the drums. Some people might even think of classical orchestras as old-fashioned and stuffy.  But in reality, the violin is far from boring! With the emergence of styles like hip hop violin music, stringed instruments are getting their spotlight in mainstream music more than ever.  And as you continue your studies, you'll learn there are definitely …

Why Are There Different Violin Sizes, and Why Does it Matter?

One of the main concerns that violin students and their parents typically have is purchasing the right-sized violin. Obviously you can't give a five-year-old a full-size violin and expect him or her to be able to handle the instrument. And once kids are in their teenage years, trying to keep up with growth spurts can be extremely difficult, especially considering how much violins cost. Even adults can run into problems when selecting the right size. Fortunately, after a little research, selectin …
