Raycurt is not only knowledgeable, he is extremely skilled. He is thorough and maximizes time by providing superb instruction. My son looks forward to attending his classes; and I am a parent who is beyond pleased with Raycurt’s level of expertise.

This was a really unfortunate and wasted experience. Raycurt was wildly unprepared to teach. He brought a broken metronome and almost no sheet music/lesson plan. I had spoken both to the sales rep and Raycurt himself prior to the lesson and he was still fully unprepared.

I also explained my level of experience and was assured Raycurt was qualified to teach at the level I needed, but he came off as less knowledgable than me, which was particularly disappointing.

Worst of all, after multiple hours of speaking on the phone, I couldn't get my money back for this lesson.

I'd strongly recommend not using takelessons at all, they've put a horrible taste in my mouth for their entire service.

My first lesson with Zach was great! 5 stars. He asked the right questions as to what aI am looking to do. And we quickly came up with a lesson plan that with the right amount of work in my part will get me headed in the right direction. Zach does a great job of making his students feel comfortable and good about their abilities.

My son is learning piano and chess with josh. We live in Brooklyn and he’s coming from nj. He’s always on time (even in a thunderstorm)!!! He’s patient but firm with my 5 year old son who’s extremely fidgety and at times absent minded! He’s a very by the book kind of guy and ensures that my son understands the foundation before moving ahead!

Very natural in working with my two kids (with two very different personalities, I might add). They’re at different experience levels and Ms. W. was able to adapt easily and determine what each needed to grow in their individual musical ability. She sets high expectations in the most authentically positive way that makes my kids want to do their best. Very pleased that we found her. My oldest is already talking about going to music school “just like Ms. W!” She knows her stuff and is a breath of fresh air—very affordable and flexible with her schedule, too.

"Victor has been an amazing teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable not only about violin, but about practically every other stringed instrument there is. He also has an amazing grasp of musical theory, and has really helped me learn about my instrument. He has also helped me grow as a student. He keeps me interested in the music, and still challenges me to keep improving. I have had other music teachers, but he is definitely the best I've had."

What Are the Best Violin Brands for Beginners?

When you’re first starting to look for a violin brand, it's important to find a compromise between affordability and good quality. It’s not always smart to buy the cheapest model available, as not only is this likely to produce a poor sound and hamper any incentive to practice or progress, but it's likely to lose a lot of value on the resale market - it's worth bearing in mind that student models will be resold at some later date, whether you're moving onto something better, or to another in …

Age or Aptitude: When to Start Violin Lessons

Some start optimistically young, others driven by passion start much later in life, but when is the right time to start violin lessons? Like any other form of art, there’s simply no black or white when it comes to exploring music. The right time to start can’t be measured exclusively by age. Some ambitious parents start their kids at the age of two, and while many go off to become YouTube sensations, a whole lot more tend to give up by the age of five. So what should you consider before div …
