I live in Shakopee, MN and I've been teaching for five years now. I made a little music studio in my home, that's where I teach most of my students. I have a couple of music stands, and I have my own instruments (violin, viola). I will be able to teach in Shakopee, and in Victoria. I would be teaching from published repertoire, and my own as well. I would be more than happy to answer any questions as it appears.

It was a long and hard journey, but I never gave up. I became what I wanted to be, what I always dreamed of. With God's love and with music, everything is possible.

I am a kind of teacher (person) who is more laid back, make sure everything and everybody is comfortable, yet challenging and expecting good work. I like to make a lesson be worth it: as for me and as for the child. I use a combination of fun and work together, because I think it's important for the student to feel relaxed and also have a good time.
I am really patient with my students, while helping them

About Anna
Hi, my name is Anna. As an orphan, I grew up in Hungary in a foster home. At a very young age I was already exposed to music. It kind of blew me away. I didn't know how something could be so beautiful, and it was like a miracle for me. Then and there, I knew that something special was waiting for me ahead. When I was 3, I didn't talk for a long time, but I did do one thing: sing. At that point my life has totally changed. I began my long journey. My foster parents got me into a music school, called Janos Patzay Music School. I knew immediately what I wanted to be. I built my whole life on music. It always filled up a very special place in my heart, it still does, and it always will. I started to learn the violin when I was 5 years old. Being in a music environment always gave me strength, made me feel safe, and made me stronger as a perso
n. I decided to learn more, and to grow, I must never give up on my dreams. After elementary school, in 1998, I went to Bela Bartok Music High School, and graduated in 2002. I continued studying music at the University of Miskolc Bela Bartok Institute of Music trough 2004-2008. Those four years were some of the best years of my life. In college, I changed my major to viola instead of violin. I am never going to forget the day of my diploma concert (April 27,2008, Sunday). It was wonderful. All the hard work and studying got me here to this point. I had no family being there for me all these years, nothing really, only God and music. Knowing the fact what I wanted kept me going in the hard times. In 2003, I met with a pastor from the United States who were on a mission trip in Hungary, in the orphanage I lived. Nothing can describe it, not even words what we had. I felt like I always knew her. I used to say I was born in a wrong place in a wrong time. After my diploma concert she and her husband adopted me. Today I am able to say that I have a family, a real family with true love. So, I came here to study English (ESL) at the University of Minnesota for a year and a half. Not having time for me to practice and not have music around me for a little over than a year, it made me really sad. I was depressed, and I thought I am going to get crazy. Music was totally cut out from my life. In 2009, I finally had my music back. I was enrolled in Crown College for 2 years. I attended the school's chamber orchestra and quartet, and I also attended other classes as well ( English, drawing, painting, and piano). I have been in different chamber groups through all of my schools (duet, trio, quartet, symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra). I also studied how to teach violin ( teaching techniques) for four years in college. I observed teaching methods at the Beni Egressy Music School once every week. In my fourth year of college, I was also teaching little ones, and after my diploma concert I also had to do a diploma teaching.

I live in Shakopee, and I've been married for six years now. I made a little music studio in my home, that's where I teach most of my students. I have a couple of music stands, and I have my own instruments (violin, viola). I will be able to teach in Shakopee, in Victoria, and on online. I would be teaching from published repertoire, and my own as well. I would be more than happy to answer any questions as it appears. I'll be always available at my email. (bubumaci.anna@gmail.com)

I am really patient with my students, while helping them master new songs and techniques. I understand that every student learns in a different way that is unique to them, and I will do my best to discover each student's learning style. I do not ask for perfection, but I do drive them to do their best. This is my motto: "Do the best you can", and "Be the best you can be".
I am a classically trained musician, and I believe that it's really important to have a strong foundation of learning the basics: reading notes, rhythms, a little bit of music theory etc. Everything else builds on this, for example, like learning and playing different styles or genres in music. You have to know the basics in order to be able to play them.
In each lesson, I will have assignments for the students to work on throughout the week: 1 song for 30 minute lesson, 1-2 songs for 45 minute lesson, 2-3 songs for an hour lesson, and I will always ask for a specific scale at the beginning of every lesson. How fast or slow we can move forward, and how much we can learn it's really depends on the students. These assignments will be showed first (I'll play it to the student), then we work on them together. I'll make sure they understand what I am showing and telling them before leaving. I will also have technique exercises, and music theory sheets for students.
I take practice very seriously. The amount of time I recommend is varies according to the student's age and skill level.
Students will have a recital once a year. They will show what they have learned through the year. I also encourage students to share their talent in community and school talent shows, at church, at family gatherings, and for friends.
Note: I do have cats in my home. If you or your child has a problem with cat allergies, I can teach in Victoria, give lessons in our church.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught in a finished basement which has been converted into a studio. Music stands and seating available.

Fellowship Church: Lessons in sanctuary.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student should provide their own instrument, music and stand

*** Specialties ***
I primarily perform classical, so I would be most comfortable teaching the classical repertoire.

Anna has a wonderful rapport with our son. This, I'm certain, has greatly improved the quality of the lesson and his willingness to practice. In the very short time (year and a half) that he's been taking violin, he is playing better than many of the longer studied kids in his string orchestra at school, due to the tutelage of Anna.

We have been very impressed with Anna and have also received feedback from our son's orchestra instructor that she must be fantastic based on the progress our son has made over the last school year. Thank you, Anna, for all of the encouragement and instruction you've given to our son.

"Experienced violin teacher of 29 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical violin skills. I specialize in Suzuki , and fiddle Celtic music etc...,

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

I played violin for two years in Jr High school. That is to say, I was way past "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" but couldn't quite do vibrato without ripping the violin away from my face. That was 30 years ago. I hadn't touched a violin until about a month ago.

Jae-In listens patiently and adapts her approach to what works best for me. For example, I explained that I can barely read music, I learned by sound when the orchestra rehearsed and memorized the material. I'm older and have both the discipline and desire to learn to read music. So half my homework she played for me to memorize and the other half helps build my music reading. :)

I feel privileged to have somebody of Jae-In's caliber as a teacher. Her skill with the violin is absolutely superb. Even more importantly, she is super friendly and kind. She immediately made me feel welcome as she greeted me with a big smile. With her, I can go from beginner to advanced without needing to switch teachers. This, I feel, reduces the likelihood that I will form a habit early in my training that limits my progress further down the road.

I highly recommend Jae-In no matter your age or playing level.

I love teaching violin students of all levels and ages! I focus on having fun playing as well as tone production, intonation, musicality and how to develop a regular practice routine.

About Laura
Laura has taught throughout her musical career and loves nothing better than to introduce students of all ages to the magic of creating their own music! As a teacher, she focuses on balancing inspiration and explanation. Inspiration: because if you don’t love your music, what’s the point? And technique: because if it’s easy to play and sounds good, you’ll keep coming back for more!

Laura has a BA in Violin Performance and a minor in American Roots Music from Berklee School of Music, has taught privately for nine years, and plays in several bands. Laura has taken firsts in her age division at several fiddle contests, including the California and Nevada Oldtime Fiddle State Champions, Western Open Championships and top 5 in the National Oldtime Fiddle Championships.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide sheet music for new tunes, stick
ers, and a basic fix-it kit for common instrument issues. I also try to keep backup books and a shoulder rest around at my studios so if someone forgets their equipment we can still make good use of the lesson.

I expect the student to provide their instrument, shoulder rest/end pin stopper, notebook, device for recording music, folder/binder for loose papers, and books. I don't require lots of books - just ones you'll use!

*** Travel Equipment ***
See Studio Equipment, above.

*** Specialties ***
I love teaching oldtime, bluegrass, country and celtic fiddle - most of what I do as a performer fits in along those lines. I teach Suzuki method violin as well. My Suzuki teacher learned directly from Shinichi Suzuki!

I encourage all my students to improvise, to try different musical styles, and to experiment with composition. My goals are to share my own love for music, and enable students to discover their unique musical voice.

Katherine creates lessons designed with her student's interests and abilities in mind. Her lessons fuse technique with musicality, allowing her students to explore the vast world of music while learning to play well. She bases her teaching in the Suzuki method but adjusts her style according to her student's needs. When not teaching, Katherine plays for the Old Log Theater, Charanga Tropicale, and the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

About Katherine
Hello! My name is Katherine, and I'm a violinist in the Twin Cities. I look forward to making music together! I believe learning music should combine technique with musical exploration, and I try to incorporate both into my teaching. I base my teaching in the Suzuki method, which emphasizes ear training and the idea that all people have the ability to make music at a high level. However, I am adamant about recognizing each student's individuality and learning style, therefore I tailor my lessons to fit the student's own goals and needs.

After graduating from St. Olaf College, where I was a member of the St. Olaf Orchestra for four years, I moved to France to teach English for a year. Since relocating to the Twin Cities, I have been teaching violin and working in special education at High School for the Recording Arts. In addition to te
aching, I play for the Old Log Theater's production of GHOST, a Cuban band Charanga Tropicale, and in the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

The best thing about my teaching method is I love to make learning fun! My motto is “If it isn’t fun then it isn’t worth doing!”
My students can always expect their first lesson to start with an assessment of their abilities. After I determine my student's level, we establish a goal & I create a personalized lesson plan for each student. Each week I go over what we had previously learned and then start on something new. I send my students home with a detailed practice log and short videos to make sure they are practicing the correct way. Each month I give my students an assessment of both performance & music theory.

About Katie
