Private Cello Teacher

I have been teaching cello privately for over ten years. Along with that I teach the theory behind it as well.
I use the books Strictly Strings for Cello Book 1, and String Builder for Cello Book I. I also use some outside music that I have on hand when the student is ready for it.
I love teaching anyone who wants to learn any instrument. I also teach the theory along with it so the student will become a good cello player.

About Kathy

I am a patient, enthusiastic teacher in the following areas: piano, violin, cello, drums, music history, and music theory. I have taught vocal and instrumental music in both Catholic and Public schools, and in after-school programs, for 20 years, and have been giving private lessons for 9 years. I e

A great passionate violin instructor.
Loquacious, but each moment of verbal conversation has a message that leads to the musical lessons of the day. I really appreciate her knowledge and skill. I am often reminiscent of my violin instructor as a child. Each session leaves me with the zeal to practice hard in eager preparation
for the next.

Kathy is a kind, patient and methodical teacher. She develops your piano skills with a structured program of theory and exercises geared toward constant improvement. She has helped me improve my piano technique throughout our time together. I have been able to play increasingly challenging pieces on a regular basis with her. I look forward to steadily improving my piano skills.

I have recently returned from a week long stay at the Sonatina Piano Camp in Bennington VT and would like to notify all those piano students who may read this review as to the wonderful experience attending this camp can be. The camp takes adult piano students at all piano skill levels from beginner to well accomplished. Students stay in shared rooms (2-4 persons) which includes a piano in every room. Attendance is usually 18- 27 persons. The mansion itself is home to approx. 30 pianos. All meals are provided (and are outstanding) as well as piano classes and 4 lessons with concert pianists or university piano professors. Ample time is provided to practice a performance piece for the end of week performance night. Master classes are given on several evenings for those wishing to perform a work in progress piece for the attendees and the camp owner providing a public lesson.
I have found that the attending student group to be extremely supportive to all other students especially to those experiencing performance anxiety. Repeating attendees (from all over the country) have formed lasting friendships among themselves which have endured for years. Eight week long sessions are given throughout the year. In addition there are summer sessions for school aged youth
and also 4 short week sessions for those wishing to try a sampling of the camp. This past January was my 3rd year attending the camp and I will be returning again next year. My experiences at the camp have been truly unforgettable. More information can be obtained at Sonatina.com

My high school daughter has received trumpet lessons from Jonathan for over a year. He is an excellent instructor, very knowledgeable and patient. As a school teacher, he knows how to work with kids in a way that gives him an advantage over a non-teacher performing artist. We've done lessons both in person and online. I'd highly recommend Jonathan to any parent looking to have their middle school/high school student take private lessons.

My goal as a teacher is to help you reach your musical goals! My lessons consist of scales, duets, and solo repertoire. Each lesson is different depending on the student I am working with, but the core of my teach is based around these 3 areas.

About Victor

My name is Victor and I have been actively teaching cello for the past 7 years. In Ames, IA I had a studio of 8 students, all ranging from different age groups and abilities. I also have experience teaching online lessons, which require a slightly different approach than in person lessons. I recentl

Victor is a wonderful teacher. He’s very patient and focuses a lot on the important fundamentals. I’m an adult student and he was very encouraging and helpful.

As a 40 year old beginner I was a little nervous about the whole online experience as well as starting a new instrument. Victor makes the online teaching experience seamless. Victor is calm, thoughtful and patient. He always finds a way to explain something in a way that relates to me specifically. To do this someone must be able to listen as well as teach. This is quality I have not found in all of my teachers/instructors/coaches throught the years. Victor is also easily the most flexible of any teacher I have had. He always finds a way to accommodate my schedule and works around any issues that arise. I have really enjoyed my learning experience thus far and look forward to each lesson. I would not hesitate to recommend Victor to anyone looking to learn the cello.

"My daughter was looking for a cello teacher but we could not find anyone local that would fit her schedule. After reading several reviews we decided to try Jessica Greenly, even though I wasn't entirely sure if the online lesson model would work for someone who had never played the cello before. I was happily surprised after the first couple of lessons to see how Jessica was patient and engaging. My daughter has made great progress with Jessica and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great cello teacher. I should also mention that Jessica has been also very accommodating and willing to work with us to manage eventual changes in schedule when we needed it. Thank you so much Jessica."

"Currently taking cello lessons with Johnny and his teaching style is great, learning a lot with him + becoming inspired/getting excited about progress. He's able to pick apart stuff at a very detailed level and help me work through it. Aside from all the technique aspects of cello playing he's good at explaining via online lesson with the details and what not, his motivational talks are helpful if you're having a session where for whatever reason you can't focus and you're kind of flying off the rails.....he'll also remind you that this is music and to do stuff like visualize things like colors or imagine things or recall memories, think of emotions, etc while you are playing."

Is There Such Thing as a Left-Handed Cello? How to Play as a Leftie

Handedness is the sense that one hand is more dexterous or coordinated compared to the other. Researchers usually determine an individual’s handedness by observing which hand is used to write or eat. Although the causes of handedness are not fully understood, about 10% of the population is left handed or ambidextrous according to Dr. M.K. Holder, a researcher and specialist on handedness. Many left handed students wonder if they will need a specialized instrument in order to learn to play …

There are also internal posts and sound bars which allow the body to function as an acoustic amplifier across the cello’s wide range. Cello Thumb Position: Where to Place Your Fingers & Hands

Cello thumb position is one of the big leaps of technique for advancing cellists and is one of the skills that sets more advanced students from the intermediate.
