Experienced cello teacher of 10 years! My lesson plan is simple : 1. we warm up with basic scales + finger exercises, 2. we focus on tone + proper technique, and 3. we play from a variety of solo, duets, and ensemble pieces (I prepare backing tracks to help w/ rhythm and timing... or play the parts myself). If the student is working on music for school orchestra, we can focus on that as well. You will learn what you want to learn at your own pace.

About Ryan
Experienced cello, drum, piano, and guitar player of 20 years. Has a MFA degree in music composition + a BFA in music performance. Recorded professionally for tv shows such as "Glee," "Entertainment Tonight," and "Extra." Also records for "Sonoton Recordings." Currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Teaches locally, in-studio, and online. Occasionally travels to Japan to perform + teach.

I could not ask for more in a teacher. Ryan is amazing in every way. He has been teaching my 4 year old son the drums for nearly a year. When my son started lessons, he was actually below the minimum age for students, but he shared a passion for music that Ryan was willing to cultivate and be patient with.

Ryan is versatile in his teaching methods, creative, open, patient. Teaching a young student, Ryan adjusted to teaching music reading fundamentals with colors and shapes. He also figured out ways to correct, critique and build all the while building a young child's confidence.

Ryan provides a written evaluation of our son annually and has him prepare for two public recitals a year. Ryan integrates modern technology into the lessons to quickly provide feedback and create customized beats and tempos to practice to.

Above all, Ryan smiles and laughs. He makes every lesson pleasant and we treasure him, truly.

I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston.
I'm currently accepting students in San Francisco and surrounding areas for cello, piano, guitar, beatboxing, and live looping.

I have a patient and relaxed attitude toward teaching with an emphasis on a balance between having fun while learning and developing the methodology of practice and discipline.
Lessons are taught in your home or at my studio in the Mission District.

About Joseph
Joey aka CelloJoe is an anomaly in the world of cellists.

By combining cello with beatboxing, he has created a unique genre: Classical Hip Hop.

CelloJoe records live on stage with a loop pedal and produces intricate tapestries of harmony, melody, and rhythm. His beatboxing (vocal percussion) and funky cello grooves form a rich soundscape for intelligent lyrics and his music spreads love, joy, laughter and conscious vibrations.

By beatboxing, throatsinging, singing, plucking and bowing the cello, CelloJoe can mimic many styles of music from dubstep to folk to rock to classical to hip hop.

CelloJoe is the world's first long distance musical bike touring cellist.
He has ridden his bike over 10,000 miles in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia.

Joey has been a great cello teacher. I like the fact that his experience covers a broad range of music. When I want to make an arrangement of a heavy metal song, or I need to learn the nuance of baroque performance, he's there.
He's a working musician so his schedule is somewhat variable, but he is good about communicating and always comes when he says he will. He's personable and enthusiastic.

Students can look forward to getting acquainted with the cello- from posture and properly handling the instrument, note-reading, and playing their first songs with the bow.

About Lisa C.
After playing the violin for over 20 years, Lisa was inspired to share the gift of music with others by her teacher, Susanna Sonnenberg. Lisa is a member of the American String Teacher’s Association, and has attended the 2017 ASTA National Conference. She currently performs with the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra. Lisa has played in recitals, the Chartiers Valley High School Orchestra, and was accepted to the 2006 PMEA District Orchestra. She has studied with Larry Weiss, Linda Andersen, and others. Lisa can’t remember a time before she learned how to play the violin; it has brought her great joy. Her favorite piece to play is the Bach Double Concerto in D Minor.

At 8 years old, Lisa fell in love with the violin. Throughout school, she studied with private teachers and played with the school orchestra. At home, her dogs were a great audie
nce.

Lisa went on to study history at the University of Pittsburgh, and later earned her law degree from Duquesne. She never forgot her violin, though, and continued to play in her spare time.

Music adds beauty to the world, and finally, after years of keeping the violin to herself, Lisa decided to share her playing with others. Lisa teaches traditional, classical method. The method books she uses include: Essential Elements for Strings, Samuel Applebaum, and All for Strings, among others. She supplements the technical exercises with repertoire from the Suzuki series. Lisa enjoys playing all types of music, in addition to classical, and teaches these songs, as well. Additional music includes pop artists like Taylor Swift, classic rock, electronic music like Lindsey Stirling, celtic, folk, and just about any other type of music you can think of. As a teacher, Lisa strives to be positive and encouraging. She believes that music should be fun, so her main goal is to make sure her students are having a good time!

I want to work closely with students to help them develop their own unique pace, methods, and goals that work for them. We’ll work together to not just master their craft, but also find their voice and enjoyment with their instrument.

My goal is to discover what a student wants to learn and their strengths and weaknesses and then cater lessons accordingly.

About Christopher
Flexible teacher combining technical knowledge of classical, jazz, and pop/rock theory, sense of humor, and passion for helping students not just master their craft, but also find their unique voice and enjoyment with their instrument.

I have over 4 years of experience teaching lessons, including teaching seminars on songwriting and music business at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts and Jamestown Community College.

Between 2006 and 2015, I played over 1,000 shows, both solo and as an auxiliary musician for other touring acts. I performed on over 30 albums and have composed for radio, television, and internet video series. I've been featured in The New York Times, on the CBS Evening News, and on NPR.

Chris's style of teaching and breadth of musical styles and genre was a breath of fresh air. After 4 years of strictly classical Suzuki method, it was time to try something new to keep my 12 year old daughter interested. She and Chris are currently transposing a Queen song so my daughter can play it on cello. Chris's teaching style is laid back and the lessons are largely directed by the student's interests, which is just what was needed in our case.

This instructor was uninterested in what I wanted. He would often say whatever you want and then not do it. When I first brought it to his attention that I was unhappy with the lesson is when I should have canceled them. 8 lessons 4 months and only halfway through Suzuki book one is unacceptable. Just a waste of time and money.

Lansing area cellist and teacher with 15 years of teaching experience. Teaches all ages from grade school children through adults. Has received training from internationally recognized cellists and pedagogues. My goal is for students to develop confidence and a love of music through learning to play the cello! I tailor my teaching to the student's needs and have developed a variety of techniques to teach the many aspects of cello playing.

About Daniel
Daniel Tressel, cellist and composer, received a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in cello performance from University of Nevada and University of Illinois, respectively. Daniel went on to receive his Doctor of Musical Arts in music composition from Michigan State University where he studied under Dr. Ricardo Lorenz.

As a cellist, Daniel has performed as a soloist with the Livingston Symphony, University of Nevada Symphony and Glenbrook Symphony Orchestra. On numerous occasions he has been invited to present recitals and masterclasses in China at Universities such as Xi’an Conservatory of Music, Shandong University, and Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. Daniel Tressel is an exceptional musician and teacher who has been providing cello lessons to my son for the past five years. Under his direction, my son has reached a level of play that is far beyond what he would have attained through his school orchestra program alone. Daniel is professional yet very personable and tailors his instruction to the needs of the student. His critiques are effective and nonjudgmental, guiding the student to improve with each lesson. He is always punctual and is timely with communication. I am delighted with how much my son has progressed as a musician under Daniel's direction. I highly recommend him as an instructor.

Daniel is a patient and thorough teacher. He provides structured lessons with enough flexibility to address any specific difficulties a student is encountering; either with the lesson material, or material from any activities the student participates in. Personally he has helped with technical bits from music I've played at church as well as music from a youth orchestra I belong to.

Many years of experience teaching privately, along with experience teaching in an elementary school for several years! I've taught many levels of experience, mostly beginners, helping them start out and develop over the years, but I've also taught intermediate and advanced students. I incorporate theory, ear and rhythmic training into my lessons, as there is only so much to improve without the basics of these skills.

About Rachel
I am a professional cellist and am currently finishing off my last year of my Bachelor's degree at Juilliard. I started with the cello when I was 4 years old, and spent most of my time focused on classical, however over the past two years, I've explored a lot with pop, rock, and fiddle music, recording with singers and bands at times when I'm not busy with classical performances and obligations.

I mostly teach classical, but if you're interested in other genres of music too, i'd love to help!

For the past 25 years, I have been teaching cello, guitar, music theory, and I worked as a performer, arranger, studio music producer, and soundtrack composer. I was a cellist in the Brazilian National Symphony Orchestra for 18 years, and in other projects I have played a wide range of styles, spanning Brazilian music, Brazilian jazz, electronic music, classical music, opera, and accompaniment for classical ballet and contemporary dance.
I believe that students from diverse backgrounds can equally learn the traditional subjects of music study, like music theory, music history, composition, and instrument performance. My aim is expanding the musical universe of the students, by presenting them to styles and genres outside their usual experience. Also, I want to introduce them to the creative process in various forms of art and technology. Additionally to instrument performance, I also can teach them to record and produce their music using computers, tablets or cell phones.

About Luciano
I have a Masters in Music Composition from Louisiana State University School of Music, as well as a Post-Baccalaureate in Music Composition for Cinema and TV, and a Bachelor in Cello Performance from the Conservatorio Brasileiro de Musica. Furthermore, I have been a music teacher and a soundtrack composer for movies and plays in my hometown of Rio de Janeiro. Performing and teaching music has been my dream since I was young. In 1995 I started my Bachelor degree at the University of Rio de Janeiro, my major was Cello and my minor was Classic and Brazilian Guitar. In 1998 I left school to join the National Symphonic Orchestra, and I played as a cellist in this institution until 2016. Studying at the university and working as a cellist with the Orchestra has provided me with a solid knowledge of music, but I have always kept an open mind for
new sounds, no matter the genre, and have played as a cellist in works of many different styles. Additionally, I began focusing on music performance by manipulating different styles and genres. To further expand my knowledge of technology in music, I have studied recording and production processes. Another important concept that influenced me was the experience of performing in free jazz sessions and improvising accompanying silent films in Europe.
