About Asuka
I started my musical training as a pianist at YAMAHA institute at age 4 in Japan. I was selected to enter perfect pitch class. It was designated for students who have perfect pitch and potentials to be professional musicians.

I enjoyed playing piano and electric piano and won the 1st prize at Kitakantou Electric Piano Competition hosted by YAMAHA institute. Because of the intensive training, I have been accompanying my students' recitals and performance exams.

As much as I enjoyed playing piano, I discovered that I also love singing, so I started to take singing lessons and majored in vocal performance during my college days.

My international credits include performances under the direction of Conductor Laurent Pillot at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England;the Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, France; the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Chianti,Italy; the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel where I was selected to sing for the Japanese Ambassador.

I made appearances as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Town Hall, and MOMA museum in New York City and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

As a versatile singer, I was presented as an aspiring opera singer on the website of Maybelline New York. Her voice was featured in short films for the Japanese technology company NEC. I appeared as a soprano soloist for the opera, Jazz and theater collaboration of "TAKE ABITE" by David Antonio Cruz. I also sings Broadway songs and continues her musical theater studies. She is an active recitalist and also performs Oratorio works.

I was also a finalist at the Opera Idol Competition at Lincoln Center in New York City, The Hariclea Darclée Voice Competition in Romania and the Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competition in New York City. Ms. Uchida was selected as a vocal scholarship recipient at Savannah music festival.

My upcoming engagement includes singing the role of Gilda in Rigoletto and Oscar in Un ballo in maschera in 2018 in New York City.

Besides being an opera singer, I have been teaching piano and voice for 11 years. I would like to share my skills and experience with you. Since I perform often, I can coach you how to perform on stage in addition to building solid technique and languages. Also, I have taught various kinds of music, such as Rock, Broadway musicals, Pop music, so we can work on all kind of music.

I believe that learning music is fun and enjoyable. However you also need to be serious and focused.
I can demonstrate various and specific techniques, phrasing, and interpretation and will always coach on how to develop your skills. However, I feel it is important for students to think critically on their own and take the first try at solving a problem themselves. I cannot emphasize enough that primarily it is you who find the ways to improve. Leaning music is a collaboration between teachers and students. I really love taking voice lessons with Asuka-sensei! It's a lot of fun, and I can tell that she listens very well because she immediately helps me with the areas I struggle with - whenever I come across them in the music. I really appreciate the way she coaches voice exercises, and I think they have immensely helped me get a better tone and sound. Even from the first lesson, I instantly heard a clear difference in my voice! She is seriously talented!!

The private lesson experience is unique in that it allows for more “customized” instruction that group lessons or rehearsals alone are not able to give. The instructor and student work one on one as a “team” toward the ultimate goal: a better understanding of their instrument, and a higher level of musical development.

In every lesson, we will work to improve technique, tone production, and listening/music reading skills, among other things. I will assign exercises and/or pieces each week that are meant to challenge, not overwhelm! Sometimes I will assign an exercise that is expressly meant for a particular area in which the student may not be the strongest, in an effort to develop that area. Learning an instrument is a skill that takes time to develop, and it is within the journey where most valuable learning takes place!

About Amanda
Amanda is a professional Pittsburgh-area flutist and private teacher. She has served as principal flutist with the Pittsburgh Philharmonic as well as second flute/piccolo with the Undercroft Opera. She has also served as a substitute flutist for the Edgewood, Westmoreland and Johnstown Symphonies. Amanda also performs with the Dolce Appassionato Trio, a chamber ensemble comprised of flute, cello, and piano. She is active as a soloist, performing in a variety of venues throughout the Pittsburgh region.

An ardent advocate of early music and historical performance, Amanda also plays the baroque flute. She has performed in masterclasses for internationally known baroque flutists Kim Pineda, Janet See, and Barthold Kuijken.

Amanda received a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Seton Hill University, and a Master of Music de
gree in flute performance from Duquesne University, where she studied under Damian Bursill-Hall of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

About Kimberly
I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam and began formal violin lessons at the age of 9. I studied all genres including, fiddle, classical, musical theater and 20th century. I have continued to study violin since then and have performed in many orchestras and small groups, such as Honor Orchestra, the Paradise Symphony, the Yuba College Orchestra, Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society Orchestra and more. I have been concert master and first stand in many of these. I have also soloed in many and have been the first violinist in quartets for countless weddings and other events. I have also played
in numerous pit orchestras for musicals.
I have been in choirs and soloing since I can remember. I have performed and soloed in choirs such as the Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society, CSUS Chamber Choir, the CSUS Women's Choir and more. I have toured to Victoria, Montreal, Ottowa, Oregon and Washington. I have also been in opera productions such as The Magic Flute, Peleas and Melisande and Die Fledermaus (The Bat) with CSUS Opera. I am a recent recipient of the Saturday Club Scholarship, a prestigious award, and have won many competitions (some repeatedly) both vocally and with violin, such as the Tri-County Competition, Young Artist Competitions, and the California Soloist and Ensemble Competitions. Additionally, I have performed musical theater repertoire and have performed as lead in musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and Into the Woods. I have also soloed repeatedly with the Yuba College jazz band and at churches all around.
I have earned my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from CSU Sacramento. I have my Associates Degrees in both Music and Early Childhood Education from Yuba College. Additionally, I have obtained my certificate of completion of training from Music Together, an organization which trains teachers to teach Basic Music Competence (both in tonality and meter), and am currently teaching this curriculum.
I have been teaching music privately for over ten years to all ages, genders and abilities. Additionally, I have taught ages 0-5 years in a preschool setting for 7 years and am extremely familiar with developmentally appropriate practices for both preschool and school age, as I am a site supervisor at a child development center with a preschool and after school program. I have had many adult students as well and encourage adults to enrich their lives with music at any age! I have been teaching since 2002 and have loved every minute of it! I teach all ages. I tailor my style of teaching to each student's goals and to what works for you. If you want to learn Taylor Swift music, I won't be giving you arias. On the other hand, if you wish to study classically, I have repertoire appropriate for you. I teach fiddle, classical, orchestral, 20th century and more for violin students and have experience with jazz, classical, musical theater, pop, religious, spiritual, choral, 20th century and more vocally.
For violin students, I use the Suzuki method as a pushing off point, a tried and true method used in many countries across the world, though I have other repertoire including fiddle, orchestra, small ensemble, solo, concertos, Christmas, and more. For vocalist, I start with the book, Adventures in Singing. I also have warm ups and exercises to keep you vocally healthy. I will teach you anything you want to learn! I also teach how to read music, theory and harmony, depending on your interest and tailored to your current skill level.
I am encouraging and knowledgeable. I will meet you at your current level, be that beginner, intermediate, or advanced. My students can look forward to being encouraged and growing through their time with me. I don't have preset ideas about where you should be in 3-6 months, nor do I have a one size fits all teaching style. Instead, I will work with you individually so that you will become the best musician you can be, meet your goals, and increase your enjoyment and appreciation for music.

Kim can teach you or your child, no matter where you are!

I was 30 when I decided to rekindle my love for the violin. I hadn’t played since before YouTube was invented, and I was skeptical about learning violin online. By the first lesson, Kim had already corrected poor habits I didn’t know I had, just after hearing me play a few scales. She adjusted her teaching style to my personality so seamlessly that I felt I was just getting pointers from a dear violinist friend whose advice is always spot-on. Weekly practice never felt like work, because Kim tailored my assignments to my goals. Before I knew it, I was playing complex concertos I could never do in high school. I started out being able to play just one major scale. Within 10 months, I was in Suzuki Book 4!
I can’t say enough about Kim’s expert teaching skills. During a sight-reading of a very difficult piece, I became so frustrated that I wanted to stop the lesson and try again later. Kim encouraged me until I had gotten all the way through, and pointed out what I could learn from my performance. When I had time to calm down, I realized that Kim can do this for any student; adults, children, and adults whose inner child throws a tantrum when they’re frustrated by a musical challenge. :-)

Teachers like Kim are rare, and worth their weight in gold. I learned so much more than violin fundamentals through my lessons with her. I’m convinced Kim can teach anyone, of any age—even through an online platform.

I see each lesson with a student as another opportunity to help facilitate realization within them. Now in my fourth year as a professional freelance performing and teaching artist living in New York City, I currently hold a private studio of over 20 pupils, ages 6 to 65, professing a wide range of topics rooted in the subject matters of music, the arts, and spirituality.

Most of the subjects I teach are music related, in which I have over 6 years of Conservatory training, a Bachelor's and Master's degree, as well as over 15 years experience performing, recording, and competing on an international level. I have also been practicing various forms of meditation practices and Yoga practices for the past 3 years. My influences span from Astral Projection to Reiki, to Vipassana Meditation, to Visualization Techniques, and much more. I believe and live by the idea that creativity is an energy that flows through us, and one's creative abilities can be improved and expanded, through the emotional body, which is influenced by one's perceptions. Throughout my training in music and the arts, I have realized that creative flow and love for what one is and does can be applied to anything in life.

I teach out of a my home apartment studio on the upper east side, complete with weighted 88-key digital piano, Bose high quality speakers, recording equipment, as well as musical media, and tablature spanning many musical genres, cultures and time periods. I also am equipped with a spacious floor space for Yoga, Pilates, Weight Lifting, Meditation, and more. Additionally, I am able to travel to any location within the five boroughs for an additional travel fee (TBD based on location).

I would highly recommend Jonathan as a music teacher. Jonathan is absolutely passionate about music, which is evident by his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. He is very patient with my five year old and encourages her to get her very best effort. Jonathan customizes the music and lessons for my daughter’s skill level while at the same time provides challenges to keep the learning process interesting. In a short period of time, my daughter's keyboard playing abilities have dramatically increased. I have extensively studied vocal performance for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master of Vocal Performance Degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I currently work for a recording studio (Sound Summit Studios in Naperville IL) where I teach voice and help singers record their music in the studio. I have previously taught at The School of Rock in Indianapolis Indiana. I have administered vocal lessons to every voice type at all different levels. I have a bachelors degree in biology with a minor in art. After graduating college, I was a full-time high school biology teacher, volleyball coach, and director of the school musical. As a high school teacher, I learned first hand the kind of pressure and expectat

I took several upper level science courses including: biochemistry, calculus, organic chemistry, calculus based physics, cell biology, anatomy, and physiology. Voice lessons with me are fun and effective. You can expect to hear improved technique from day one, eventually reaching your long term goals. I begin every lesson aligning the students voice through various vocal warm ups and exercises. We then work together to pick repertoire that will suit the singer'€™s voice and they will enjoy singing. During a lesson we will also cover performance presentation, acting, diction, rhythm, musicality, style, and interpretation.

During tutoring you can expect a personalized plan based on your goals and aspirations. Since every student is different you can be assured we will come up with a plan that is designed just for you. Hello, a little about myself, I have a bachelors degree in Music Education from Florida A&M University and Specialist Certificate in Jazz Composition and Arranging from Berklee College of Music. I have been teaching for the last 17 yrs as either a elementary or middle school band director. I have lead many of my students to All City Honors, superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble and alike. I am a woodwind specialist who can teach brass performance. I would like to extend an invitation to all students who are interested in jazz studies as it relates to scales, interpreting chord symbols, establishing tunes for your repertoire and overall performance.

About Zeynep
Hello! My name is Zeynep Alpan and I am a Turkish-American violinist living in New York City. I completed my Bachelor's degree at The Juilliard School and now I am currently pursing my Master's Degree at Juilliard.

I have worked with education programs at the Juilliard School for three years. I am a mentor for the Music Advancement Program at The Juilliard School and I am also a New York Philharmonic Teaching Artist Apprentice.
I am a Teaching Artist at the Thurgood Marshall Academy Lower School, an and have also privately taught at the Aspen Music festival and School (P.A.L.S program). I have worked with the Education Programs at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. while being a National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellow.

I absolutely love teaching and helping students find their own unique musical voice and musicianship. Ever
y student learns in their own way, has their own needs and their own goals. As a dedicated teacher, I make sure to tailor each lesson to meet all the student's specific needs in order to help and guide them in becoming the best musician that they can be!

Turkish American violinist, Zeynep A, started studying the violin at the age of 5 as part of her music therapy treatment for her diagnosis of speech delay and Auditory Processing Disorder. Almost immediately after being introduced to the violin, Zeynep began to speak and following a year and a half of violin studies, she had her first solo appearance with Vivaldi’s A minor Violin Concerto, after winning the Peabody Concerto Competition.

As a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, Zeynep has appeared in a myriad of venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Kennedy Center Concert Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Moscow Conservatory Great Hall, Mariinsky II Theatre, and Strathmore Hall. Future engagements include performing as a soloist with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey during their 2019 USA Tour and recording a CD with the Turkish recording label, Lila Muzik.

Zeynep is the first prize winner in many competitions, some of which include the Juilliard Concerto Competition, the Dorothy DeLay Fellowship Competition at the Aspen Music Festival and School, the National Philharmonic Concerto Competition, and the Goldie and Feder Memorial String Competition. Additionally, in 2015, Zeynep was awarded the Ataturk Youth Achievement Award by the Ataturk Society of America in Washington DC.

Zeynep is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the Juilliard School as a recipient of the Ahmet Ertegun Scholarship, the C.V. Starr Scholarship, and the Molly Frank and Aliki Perroti Scholarship under the tutelage of Naoko Tanaka. Former teachers have included Oleg Rylatko, Aaron Rosand and Shirley Givens.

Community outreach and service has played an important part in Zeynep’s musical life. In 2013, Zeynep co-founded the group Sonatas Stopping Starvation. The project uses musical excellence to help develop citizens and leaders within the arts and the greater community. Their mission is to be of service as artists and citizens to organizations that work to fight hunger. Along with a school-wide food drive, they gave their first benefit concert in November 2013 at the Juilliard School. Zeynep is also a Morse Teaching Artist Fellow, a Gluck Community Service Fellow, and a Music Advancement Program Fellow.

As a Turkish American, Zeynep receives frequent invitations to perform in major music halls in Turkey. She was featured at age 9 on Turkish National Television while performing works of Kreisler and Massanet and she has worked with the violinist Cihat Askin in Cihat Askin and Friends project (CAKA) with performances including the opening gala of Istanbul Toy Museum.

Aside from music, Zeynep enjoys taking business classes at Columbia University through the Barnard-Columbia-Juilliard Exchange program, drinking tea, biking, and being an avid dog lover.

My daughter had the pleasure of taking lessons with Zeynep this past summer in the PALS program in Aspen. She loved each week when it was lesson time. This is what Addison had to say, "She always would say the area I needed to work on nicely. I loved that she gave me knew things to learn at each lesson. If I didn't understand, she would keep encouraging me until I did." This was an excellent experience!

A unique and special experience! My daughter always looked forward to her sessions with Zeynep. She has been her mentor for the past two summers at the PALS program. Once after a lesson my daughter told me that she was surprised how much better she played the song after her session with Zeynep. I love the way Zeynep engages with my daughter and brings out the best in her.

Zeynep was my teacher for the PALS summer program in Aspen. Her positive attitude made my weekly lesson enjoyable. My playing improved greatly during my summer with her. She helped me become a stronger player. Watching her perform in the orchestra was inspiring.

I also teach songwriting skills, good practice habits, and stage presence/performance tips, the necessary skills required to be an original performing artist that I developed with my own experience pursuing a music career

Edward has really brought me over the hump musically and made me into the musician I am today enough so where now I'm comfortable enough to play solo gigs. A very thorough teacher with a laid back agreeable personality, works well in many genres and techniques.
