As an educator, my philosophy is to teach my students how to become the best versions of themselves by creating a safe, healthy learning environment. My mission is to cultivate musicians to be the best they can be by receiving a well-rounded music education, developing mastery, and becoming life-long music appreciators. Good habits and an excellent attitude make great cellists. It doesn't hurt to love music too. I love music and I love to share my passion with my students.
Having a teacher who is an experienced performer is an important quality in a teacher. I am a professional classical musician currently working as a freelance cellist in the Chicago area. I play with Chicago Philharmonic, the Northbrook Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, among others. Before coming to Chicago I played for 13 seasons with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
I have taught privately for over 10 years including 2 years in Paris. My teaching is a reflection of my teacher, Phillippe Muller. I studied with Msr. Muller while studying at the Paris Conservatory. Msr. Muller is currently a Professor of Cello at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

I thought the teacher wanted me to just memorize the one section (the tune); she wasn't clear the first time (the first lesson) on memorizing the tune for playing All of the exercises without looking at the music notes. So, yesterday's lesson wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be.

I couldn't ask for more in a teacher. I am a newbie to the cello and Lisa made me feel very comfortable and also, her teaching style is very clear, logical, starting with the basics and building step-by-step. She has a good sense of humor, too. All said, after only my first lesson, I think my learn a new trick: playing a song or two on the cello. Deb Bisacchi, MEd, MSW"
