About Jonathan

I have studied with Wanchi Huang at James Madison University for six years. At JMU, I earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music, in violin performance. I received my D.M.A. at Catholic University of America, studying with Jody Gatwood. When I was a student at JMU, I taught several studen

Johnathan is a teacher in the spirit of a Jedi master. I was looking for someone who could go deep into how to play an instrument properly without making it drudgery and that is exactly what I found. At the start, he asked what I wanted to get out of lessons and where I wanted to take playing the violin. Each lesson has been tailored to add another piece to that foundation.

He really keeps my 6 yr old daughter interested in playing and that is the master skill.

Jonathan is doing a great job training me to elevate my playing from intermediate to advanced. He pays very close attention to detail and has a lot of knowledge in music theory. I look forward to taking more lessons with Jonathan.

I work with a variety of people with many different goals. Currently my studio has young beginners, teens and young adults who are entering their professional career stage with new recordings, videos and many performance opportunities. We have upcoming shows at professional venues for our young artists as well as nursing homes and churches for less experienced performers. Shows include all genres and styles: voice, piano guitar and ensembles - and the studio has a lot of collaboration between people - doing back up vocals, co-writing songs, duets trios and more.

About Robert

Creativity, skill and love of music are the key elements that I work to encourage in every student. Over the years my teaching has evolved and I find it gratifying to take people far beyond their own expectations while helping them achieve their goals. I believe everyone is musical and just needs

Xi is VERY knowledgeable of the art of horn playing. I understand what she is saying without difficulty. She knows what she is doing and her skill in teaching is above average. I’m so thankful to have found a teacher who respects where I am at 54 and how to help me get back in the game. The work is up to me of course, but she been very real and encouraging along the way. Well done!

All my students have multiple opportunities to perform throughout the year. I generally put on a Christmas student recital and a student recital just before summer break. In addition to these 'concerts', I offer performance classes once every other month where students get together and do a variety of activities which may include playing for each other, jamming, performing as duos and trios, or taking a lesson in front of the group. We have fun and all learn a lot at the same time!

"What makes a great teacher is not only loving what you do, but also loving the people you're teaching. Jordan D. has a big passion for music, and a big heart for equipping people for the musical endeavors ahead of them. He is always encouraging and always positive. Even if I feel like I could have done better, he celebrates me where I am, which has taught me to have more confidence while singing, playing guitar or charango, and even glockenspiel. Thanks Jordan for being a great teacher! -Loren Lemon"

"I have worked with Ms. Christine for over six years, and she has been an invaluable member of our school. Christine is an excellent music teacher. She is aware of a variety of approaches to teaching music, and is constantly broadening her musical talents. She has worked to create interdisciplinary experiences as well, by integrating song, instrumentals, and dance with literature, through performances for the school.

She enjoys children and brings wonderful excitement to their music experience. She creates relevant lesson plans and incorporates movement and other modalities into her music lessons. If you walk into a music lesson, students are moving and making music! They are engaged!

I highly recommend Ms. Christine."
